74 guests' feedbackI loved my mid-week escape at this idyllic little cottage at nature's edge. I walked on the farm during the day, and the evenings were cosy. I felt safe and able to connect to nature.
Place was neat, had everything you need, so eco-friendly. Love this place.
It was very relaxing.
Mountain Cottage truly lives up to its name, offering a tranquil, secluded haven nestled in the mountains. The peaceful sound of water running from the mountain into the pond soothes your soul, eliminating the need for any other music. The interior of the cottage is warm and inviting, with a fireplace that enhances the comforting ambience on colder nights. The winning highlight of the cottage is definitely the hot tub, a luxurious treat that rounds off the mountain experience. All aspects considered, it's a warmly suggested retreat.
We celebrated my thirtieth birthday at Porcupine Peak and used the barn for one of the nights. Porcupine Peak offers lots of activities and space!
Nice quiet place. Friendly people. There are some springboks on the farm and hiking trails up to the top of the mountain. Saw nice snow.
Everything was absolute perfection! The hosts were amazing and helpful. The mountain cottage is beautiful and peaceful and has everything you need. I would definitely suggest the wood-fired hot tub for the evening; the stars are incredible. Just note that winter there is very cold, so pack warm! I will definitely be making this a regular trip!
Magnificent place to recharge your mind and soul! Beautiful views from the Mountain Cottage, and the hot tub is a must for the cold evenings. The hosts are amazing and very accommodating.
Thank you for a wonderful weekend. Really had to get away and needed this beautiful scenery. We did not get a chance to walk around, but were shown a whole lot of different routes. Love the sound of the water and the fireplace in the room which made it crazy cozy in the very cold weather.
Fantastic very nice and beautiful. Enjoy it so much.
Porcupine Peak Farm was a perfect getaway for my wife and I. Small and rustic but comfortable and well positioned to just relax and take in the view and tranquility. We spent time mountain biking, hiking and even a spot of fishing, and then relaxed under the stars on the Kolkol provided.
We really enjoyed the privacy and the peace and quiet, which made for a lovely weekend getaway. The hosts are friendly, and I will definitely go back.
Clean, fully equipped cottage in a gorgeous location. The hosts were lovely!
Excellent location, accommodation and welcome.
We loved it. It was very peaceful and being in nature was very refreshing. Definitely going back.
It was super awesome. The hosts are amazing.
It was cold, as we expected, but slept wonderfully warm! The wood was enough and the visit was cozy.
Break away in the truest sense of the word. Only the gas geyser needs some attention, the rest is perfect.
See stars.
Our first time here, we stayed in the Mountain Cottage. It is a cosy, charming rustic cottage in a beautiful, secluded location rich in bird life, with mountain walks on your doorstep. For a couple, the size is good for 2 days. Check-in was thorough, and the host was responsive and easily reachable. We could mountain bike on gravel roads and dip in the natural pool outside. Check with the host before booking this cottage that the noisy solar inverter by the bed has been moved outside, as this unfortunately led us to sleep badly our first night. The host moved us to a second available cottage for our second night, where we slept well. I would stay here again (once the inverter is moved ).
We had a very nice stay. The mountain cottage is nicely furnished with a beautiful view.
I would highly recommend Porcupine Peak Farm. Amazing views and we loved the peace and quiet. We stayed in the Watercolour cottage and it had everything we needed. The host was also very friendly and accommodating to any requests we had.
Lillian was lovely and so was the atmosphere of the mountain cottage.
Unbelievably beautiful place. We stayed in the Mountain Cottage! From the fresh water splash pool to the unique outdoor barbecue, our souls have created breath of city life. an incredibly helpful lady went out of her way to spoil our stay even more!
Romantic, peaceful, refreshing for body and soul in beautiful surroundings. Stars are almost touchable. Wonderful hosts and very clean and tidy cottage.
Very neat. Wide space for walking around. Thank you for visiting.
Lovely holiday home. Had a great time. House is very comfortable.
Exactly what we needed as a family. We made use of the hot tub. It is a must and we were in it every night. We wanted a weekend just to be on our own as a family and rest and that's exactly what we got. We were welcomed with open arms and immediately felt at home. We ordered delicious farm bread, honey and the most delicious barbecue sausage and milk tart that we got upon our arrival. The milk tart did not last long. We will definitely go again and again.
Wonderful stay for a group of people. Lots of fun and lovely surroundings. Great for a group of adults with kids. Nice braai facilities.
We had a great stay, nice place and friendly people. Extra effort has been made to ensure that we are comfortable. The wifi only worked sometimes, with the bad wind and rain it was understandable. We were able to spend quality time together. Will visit there again.
House is well equipped with most necessities. Solar/gas. No power point for cell phones. Beds for children are short, my 13-year-old was too long. Roof at braai is also very low but everything works and it's beautiful.
We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary there. Als was so nice neat and clean. The hospitality was amazing. We will definitely be going back for a few more weekends. It's one of our favorite places now.
Had a great time in the unit.
We ordered the wood-fired hot tub and even though it was 1 degree Celsius, we were toasty in the tub. Loved the fireplace in the bedroom too. Perfect for a winter break. Absolutely love what they're doing with the farm. Very well set up. Lovely labyrinth walk by the campsite. Would definitely recommend it!
The home is beautifully newly painted, everything works and the location is perfect. The ponds offer so many swimming opportunities and it was a pleasure to stay there.
Good service and beautiful location.
Beautiful scenery and friendly reception. A great experience as a couple.
Die bergkothuis bied die perfekte wegbreek, 100% privaat, stil, ongelooflike uitsig, bergstaproete wat by jou voordeur begin, en 'n privaat bergwaterplonspoel. Sal vir seker binnekort weer besoek.
Porcupine Peak exceeded all our expectations. The accommodation is comfortable and tidy and Robin and Tatiana immediately made us feel at home. We had a wonderful bike ride and then just rested in the beautiful scenery. Would definitely recommend it.
Many thanks Porcupine Peak Farm for an excellent weekend in a wood-fired hot tub under the stars. We enjoyed every second and your hospitality is top notch. Will definitely come back again!
We will most definitely holiday at Porcupine Peak Farm again.
The houses are beautiful and Tatiana was a very friendly hostess. The fireplace in The Sandstone Cottage was the best.
Houses are far apart, beautiful surroundings, lots to do. Will go again, had a great time. Friendly owners, who made us feel very welcome.
Very nice stay in the beautiful houses. Although it was a very cold weekend, the fireplace and down duvets in Sandsteen cottage kept us warm.
We always have a great time at Porcupine Peak. It is a wonderful getaway spot for those who want to escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The units are always very tidy and the owners are warm and welcoming. We'll see you again soon!
The Windmill accommodation was a really fun experience as it had a retro trailer/caravan type feel to it. My 13 year old and 9 year old enjoyed the uniqueness of the bunks and compact bathroom. The dirt track just outside was awesome for cycling with its uphills and downhills which kept the kids entertained for hours, the dam was close by and the hot tub was perfect for star gazing. We would recommend an extra blanket or two as it got incredibly cold at night! Also mention of the little shop 5kms down the road would have been very helpful as we had forgotten to pack a few things and thought the closest store was 30kms away so went without until the following day. Overall we had a lovely stay, thank you Tatiana and co!
Environment is definitely an asset for the jogger, walker or cyclist.
Cottage is ideal for 4 people. Beautiful view and barbecue with Jacuzzi on your porch. In the middle of peace and quiet. Robin is very hospitable and everything was perfect. Unforgettable weekend and would love to visit again.
Unbelievably nice atmosphere, most beautiful view and friendly service.
Tatiana and Robin are excellent hosts and will go out of their way to make your stay welcoming and memorable. We stayed at the Watercolour Cottage with the most spacious verandah, beautiful views and a braai. It had everything we needed, was tastefully yet simply decorated, including plush linens and towels. These cottages are semi detached, but quiet. If you prefer privacy, we suggest the Mountain Cottage boasting its own spring water pool. The hot tub is an absolute must. The kids loved it. We also tried it.
See stars.
The cottage offers much more than expected with two bedrooms and the most beautiful view of the mountains. The hot tub is a must!
It is very peaceful and quiet there. Nice place. People are very friendly and helpful. The Jacuzzi is definitely a winner. We will definitely go again and I would recommend Porcupine Peak Farm to anyone.
What a fantastic stay! We stayed in the mountain cottage. It's private, has a fantastic view, the unit is neat and simple but is really luxuriously furnished! We made use of the mobile hot tub and spent a lovely windless evening under the stars!
With all places we have visited we were really brutally disillusioned with the look of the facility. Clean and tidy is an "under-statement". Tatiana stayed in contact with us until we arrived to make sure we were safe. Will visit Porcupine Peak again and again.
We had a lovely stay, the location is stunning and the cottage is fully equipped. Tatiana was a wonderful host. We will certainly be back again.
Great location, very friendly reception, beautiful, clean and very peaceful accommodation.
Neat, well-equipped cottage in a peaceful farm atmosphere.
If you're looking for a weekend of rest in the mountains, that's exactly what you'll get. We were there to spend alone time, eat, sleep and talk. There are activities on the farm for those interested, but for us the River Cottage was ideal for the weekend. It helped that the weather cooperated, rainy and cold.
Lovely cottage between the mountains. It's perfect for a quiet weekend away from all the noise.
Very friendly reception. Peaceful and joyous getaway weekend. Lovely people at the recommended shop that has been around for 150 years.
Many thanks for an incredible weekend! We got engaged this weekend on their beautiful farm and the owners put so much effort into making everything as special as possible for us. Thank you very much for being willing to go the extra mile for your guests. We will visit again soon!
It was relaxing. If you want to break away from the city life this is the place to be. Very nice. View is perfect.
Robin and Tatiana are wonderful and focused on guests' convenience. The pizza and evening around the fire was delicious. Thank you very much, we will do it again. Just remember Doom for the ants.
Professional and friendly service. We were given the choice of another unit at no extra charge. Makes you feel welcome. Can explore farm on your own time. Nice firewood and natural clean spring water.
Porcupine Peak offers a quiet and peaceful getaway from the busy city life. If you just want to relax and appreciate a fire and the beautiful Karoo view and mountains, this is the place for you. If I could, I would award 10 stars. The drivers are extremely hospitable. The accommodation was extremely clean and beautiful. The personal nature of the welcome letter and the chocolates on the children's beds was a special treat. These little gestures make a big difference. There was delicious biscuits and cookies to enjoy with the coffee. Lemons on the table. Very fast internet. Enough dry wood. There are hiking trails, a tree house that the children enjoy, turtles that walk right in front of you across the nice lawn on which the children can play. The rocket was a good lafenis in the warm karoo heat. Rob opened the bar between 22:00 and 00:00 and we were able to experience and celebrate the Springboks' long-lasting victory over the French. There is a zip-line that we will try next time and 4x4 routes. The cottages are opposite each other and ideal if you are a family or group of 12. It was really a quiet and special place for decent and quality family time. We could also spend a day on our way back to Montagu's hot springs. If you're looking for a place where it's quiet and peaceful and break away like a week's holiday, this is the place for you!
Great for peace and quiet. Very clean and secure. Good quad biking.
See stars.
Unfortunately we only stayed one night. Were the only guests for the weekend. It was definitely worth it. The environment is breathtaking. We highly valued the tranquility. The hospitality is something you have to experience yourself. Will definitely go there again. For longer!
Offer all-round excellence.
Beautiful views and lovely peaceful atmosphere as well as activities for lovely family time and opportunities for wonderful memories. Our two tomboys enjoyed being children in the safe environment. From rolling down grassy hills and running after the farm dogs to quad biking and playing in the tree house, it was a feast. After the breathtaking sunset and some star counting, the children could continue playing inside and the adults could sit around the fire and chat. Big smiles to all! Porcupine Peak Farm's people are people of heart, who will do everything in their power to make you happy and comfortable. From struggling to teach a beginner to ride a quad bike to recovering forgotten wallets in the Cape, Tatiana and her team know how to look after people! We can't wait to go back to picnic by the pond, go for long walks and bike rides and of course get in a swim in the warmer weather.
This accommodation is located in a very nice and quiet area on a beautiful farm. The hostess was extremely friendly and her assistant on the farm, Faizel, is great to go quad bike riding with! Thank you for a nice long weekend.
It was a nice getaway. We were just surprised that three cottages are attached and not separate units. The caretaker was very helpful. Will go there again, but then book all the units.
Pictures show better than the actual experience. Limited privacy - was disappointing that units are part of a single building. Unit is not properly equipped - basic kitchen necessities absent. Unit very clean and tidy. Caretaker helpful and friendly. No signage shows entrance to Porcupine Peak.
