75 guests' feedbackIt is a cute place and I had a very nice stay. The decor is such that it almost feels like you are staying in a museum, but everything you need is there. The view from the stoep on the marsh and surrounding mountains is breathtakingly beautiful. If I go again I will stay longer.
Very very nice stay.
We had a lovely stay and everything was of excellent quality and value for money.
You will not find a place more peaceful and welcoming in Wakkerstroom. The hosts made me feel very welcome, and I am looking forward to returning sometime soon to do more things in and around the town. So many fine details were taken care of, which were not expected but highly appreciated (rusks, biscuits, chocolate on my bed, brought me hot water during load shedding, etc.). You won't go wrong if you book here.
When you arrive at Pot & Gieter, the building's appearance may make you doubt your choice. Once inside, you experience the peace and the peaceful atmosphere. Very clean and tidy with everything you need. The owners are very friendly and genuine. All you need is a roof for your vehicle. We would recommend Pot & Gieter as a neat, affordable accommodation.
We enjoyed our overnight stay (en route home from Kruger) at Pot & Gieter guesthouse. The open-plan space is rustic but charming. Beds are comfy, and the electric blankets in winter are a win! The kitchen is small and basic, so bear that in mind if self-catering. Bring an apple or two if you want to befriend the resident horse, Calypso. On-site host is friendly, communicative, and on hand to help with area information, restaurant recommendations, etc.
Wonderfully peaceful and a very creative use of an old building.
The bathroom lacks a door if we booked as 4 adults. I like the white bedding.
This is a special place and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique stay.
Izet and Kobus are wonderful hosts. Izet contacted me in the week beforehand and that way I knew exactly which path was the best, what there was to do etc. Our place was equipped with what you would need. We will definitely stay there again!
It was the perfect stopover after a long day's drive. Very comfortable, spacious and peaceful. Had everything we needed. If you don't feel like cooking, there are restaurants just up the road. A perfect place too for staying a few nights to explore the area.
Centrally located, has huge and comfortable space, and super friendly and helpful hosts. Really enjoyed my stay there.
We arrived there only after 19:30 in the evening and were still warmly welcomed.
Very cute place it is very cute and neat. The owners very friendly and will go back again.
Most beautiful view of the mountains and the cosmos in bloom. Lizet is friendly and helpful. Stylishly furnished. I will definitely stay there again. Nice for kids to run and play outside.
What more can I say?
Rest for the soul. With the kindest people.
We enjoyed every moment at Pot en Gieter. Owners are very friendly and helpful. You will see us again soon.
Lovely peaceful visit. Friendly owners who made us feel so at home.
The place is on the edge of the town with a view of a wetland and one can have a nice walk in the area/field. The accommodation itself is cutely furnished with all the necessary facilities and the beautiful decor elements give a cozy atmosphere. The owners are very helpful and give personal attention.
Caring, hospitable and made a lot of effort to make us feel warm and welcome! Thank you very much! Can definitely recommend Pot and Gieter!
Despite the load shedding and the cold winter, Pot and Gieter made the visit very nice and cosy, a lot of effort was made to make the stay easier for us. Walking distance to fantastic eateries.
Lovely accommodation, comfortable and convenient. The surroundings are picturesque and one can just sit there and admire for hours.
Lizet's hospitality, her sensitivity to her guests is first class. The location is fantastic with a panoramic view of the marsh and mountains, the environment is quiet and peaceful which contributes to an unforgettable experience.
Clean and has everything needed. Good view and friendly people.
Accommodation very comfortable and clean, reasonably priced and hosted by a friendly, caring couple who saw to our every need. Already planning to return.

The room was decorated so beautiful and the owners are really friendly, and the cutest horse comes to greet you.
Our two friends rode our motorbikes from Hoedspruit. Back roads. Due to the heavy rain the previous days, we only arrived late in Wakkerstroom. When we drove into town, the people were already waiting for us along the road. They already started looking for us. We really appreciated it.
Enjoyed the stay - had a great dinner at one of the restaurants. Good night's rest with wonderful views.
Wakkerstroom was the last overnight stop on an 11 day long tour, and the only guest house where we stayed, the rest were resorts, hotels and lodges because we like the anonymity of large institutions. However, the Lizet family received us kindly, and then left us to enjoy the time in Pot & Gieter and on Wakkerstroom. The converted barn is spacious and spotless. The kitchenette and bathroom are admittedly small, but this did not detract from the pleasant experience.
A neat, clean and stylishly furnished cottage exceeded our expectations. The location ensures that one has a beautiful view of the surroundings, yet is within walking distance of all the places to eat. Lizet and Kobus' warm and hospitable reception makes Pot & Gieter guest house a winner. Wish we could have stayed longer! Here we come back.
I just think it's important that guests know it's an open plan setup.
Our hostess was extremely friendly. The accommodation was novel, rustic but extremely comfortable and the electric blankets on the bed a real treat on a cold night. The location on the outskirts of town is delightful and the horse and guinea fowl a bonus! Highly recommended. We will be back!
Lizet and Kobus were excellent and did a good job. Everything was clean, tidy and adequate. For sure not the last visit with them!
Lizet was the epitome of rural hospitality and we felt like we just belonged. Everything was ideal, we lacked nothing and for 2 days we could just switch off and enjoy the silence and beauty.
Lizzie is a wonderful hostess and a pleasure to deal with. Will definitely visit again.
Pot & Waterer was of excellent quality!
What a great atmosphere and amazing location. The mat by the door should actually read "Welcome back", because you can't visit here just once.
Great stay. Tidy. Will definitely go again.
The only negative was that the geyser was turned off and we had ice-cold water the next morning and couldn't shower as it was -1 outside, we were informed that they turn it off - but forgot to check, not something a guest should worry about.
A wonderful old place with the horse that was so cute, the house looks old and built of zinc and when you walk in you can't believe what awaits you - the most beautiful beds with equally beautiful and delicious bedding. The living room and kitchen and bathroom are so nicely decorated, it was really lovely to stay there and will definitely go again.
Next time we'll stay longer to explore Wakkerstroom historical and birding wetlands.
Comfortable beds and sitting area. Hostess Lizet was so welcoming and friendly. Kitchen is very cramped and no place to prepare food. Washing up dishes is very difficult as basin is very high, as is stove. Shower is up a high step and door opening very narrow into shower. Not easy for an elderly person to get out of shower. No door to bathroom for privacy. Again the basin is very high and not user friendly.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere around the little place. There were a few horses in the premises. We were greeted by the family like old friends! We enjoyed our stay very much!
The accommodation is beautiful and neat. The host is very kind. The town is cute en there's a lot do to if you love nature. It's a wetland area. We just stayed over on our road trip, but would go back again.

Our getaway weekend was one of the highlights of the year! Lizet was an excellent hostess and her attention to small details was special. A nice treat was the biscuit she had for the guests! The moment we pulled up at the farm gate and saw that the cottage looked out onto the marsh (and a special sunset) we knew it was going to be a lovely rest and recharge weekend! Lizet's attention to detail and her passion for Wakkerstroom and her guests was wonderful to experience. Much of the weekend was cloudy and cool, so we were able to snuggle up under the blankets she put out. From Pot and Gieter, it was lovely afternoon walks to visit the old cemetery and explore the village. If you are very agile you can simply walk to the bird watching points, but with threatening rain the car was an easy way out. The yard has a few benches where you can sit under the trees and listen to nature and birds. The silence and fresh air was the very best part of the weekend! Thanks for your nice-chat-as-if-we-have-been-friends-for-a-long-time, Lizet! We would love to visit you again!
Owner is a great hostess! Accommodation is beautiful, quiet, neat and clean!
Our stay was perfect. Outstanding hospitality from Lizet in a very comfortable, quiet and tastefully decorated cottage that comes with a lovely view and a short walk into town. Thank you.
We stayed one night and really enjoyed it. The facilities are excellent and the surroundings beautiful. Lizet is an excellent hostess. You will definitely see us again.
We were warmly welcomed by Lizet. We like the place's decor. Would recommend anyone to stay here.
The owners have paid great attention to detail with the decor, which makes this an unusual and interesting place to stay. The bed is very comfortable with good quality bedding. There are doors opening from the lounge to a small patio and garden that has great views of the surrounding hills. The property is at the edge of town which means that it is quiet and peaceful, but it is a short walk to the local restaurants as well as the bird watching hides.
No TV and WiFi - absolutely fantastic! Very quiet, clean and tidy. You can pick the stars from the sky and once again realize how great God's Kingdom is. Thank you Lizet, for your hospitality.
I enjoyed the location - it was very peaceful and in a lovely setting. Calypso, the horse, was a treat.
A delightful overnight stay in a restored stable. All the necessary facilities, including a pony prancing around in the garden. Lizet is a great hostess.
I was very happy with the place.
We spent four wonderful nights in Pot & Gieter, a very special guest house in Wakkerstroom. There is so much to say but words cannot really give full credit. Highlights are the accommodation which is a renovated barn with beautiful decor, the horse, Calypso, who came to greet us every morning and made friends with my dog, the beautiful view, the unsurpassed sunsets, and then, of course, the hospitality, kindness and helpfulness of the hostess, Lizet. We can definitely recommend this guest house for a wonderful and unique getaway!
We enjoyed it very much. The nature is beautiful. Room's cleanliness is great. They have everything you need for sure.
Had a great time, Lizet is a suggestion and friendly hostess.
We had a very nice and peaceful stay. Also slept nice and warm and cuddly. Would recommend Pot & Gieter any time. The owner, Lizett, is also very friendly.
The place is a piece of heaven. Restful. Beautiful.
You guys are the best. Good work. Keep it up.
So wonderful, peaceful, felt like home. Pot & Gieter hosts were so friendly, the views breathtaking and I would love to go again.
Our stay at Pot en Gieter guest house was amazing. The guest house is spacious, clean and very stylishly decorated, and the view over the wetland is breathtaking. Lizet and JJ make you feel right at home and take care of all your needs. Will definitely stay at Pot en Gieter guest house again.
Lizet is a wonderful hostess and the Pot & Gieter Guest House was really special. Nicely furnished with everything one could possibly need. I would definitely recommend it!
Our experience at Pot & Gieter House was wonderful from the moment we arrived until we departed. Our hosts saw to all our needs. They were so friendly and helpful. The accommodatio nis clean, neat and comfortable. The views are breathtaking and the area and town so peaceful. This is the place to be if you want to calm down and relax.

Pot & Gieter is everything it says on their website and more. The accommodation is nicely furnished and Lizet and JJ thought of everything when they equipped it - from the radio in the kitchen, hairdryer to briquettes for the braai. The beautiful view over the marsh was a welcome bonus. We will definitely book with Pot & Gieter again.
The accommodation unit is authentic and has a very nice view of the wetlands of Wakkerstroom. The beds are therefore suitable for parents and children in one room.
Great space and good accommodation. Received kindly and afterwards informed about everything - even regarding the town. Was a nice experience.
Lizet clearly has a passion for what she does, she goes out of her way to ensure that as a guest you are comfortable and have everything you might need, it feels more like a visit than she does for us. provide service!
Although Wakkerstroom was bitterly cold and had no water, we had a wonderful stay at Pot & Gieter Guest House! Efforts were made to make sure our stay was perfect.
The unit is marketed as pet friendly but is not. Seeing that I travel with my four-legged children, their interests and safety must also be looked after. I would recommend Pot and Gieter for couples traveling alone.
