Glasogie and Suikerbekkie cottages both sleep 2 people with their own private sundecks and braai facilities. These 2 units are not suitable for children. Facilities in the cottages include a fridge, fan, heater, radio, kettle, toaster, microwave and hairdryer. Loerie has DStv and Glasogie and Suikerbekkie both have OpenView TV (approximately 30 TV channels which includes the ETV movie channels and BBC Worldnews). There is free off-street parking as well as fast (150 Mbps) free unlimited fibre WiFi. Please note that there is one off-street parking space per unit and guests arriving with more than one car are requested to inform us in advance before check-in. Parking in the garage is also available at a fee, subject to availability.

Protea Guest House's owners are very friendly. The house is private, neat and peaceful.
Ideal place to relax and recharge. Everything needed was there. Beautiful layout and setting. Close to town center but far enough from all the noise.
Lovely views, comfortable, and a perfect spot for a quick stay.
It was very stuffy, but there is a fan in place. The bathroom is a bit neat, but if you turn carefully you won't bump into anything. The stairs were bad, so travel sparingly or you will die. I was very well received and helped in Afrikaans. I honestly can't complain about anything at Protea Guest House. The WiFi is strong, so remember a tablet or laptop for Netflix. The photos are 100% as they appear, even where the fan stands.
It was fine. Duvet did not fit cover. Towels extremely thin. Communication poor (they must have got my cell phone number wrong as I never got the WhatsApp they claim to have sent me). One can at least get a small 250ml of milk for coffee. Creamer alone is not really acceptable.
Solo female traveller, a quick weekend trip to explore Knysna and surrounds.
The unit had everything one could possibly need. Beautiful view, beautiful grounds, peaceful environment, friendly reception. Parking for vehicles is unfortunately not behind a security gate. The gate to the units is also not locked.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Protea Guest House. It was clean and comfortable with a lovely view and well appointed with all that we needed. Very central too.
The bathroom is a bit cramped.
Four guests and one couch, sat like four little birds in a row. The floor slopes, so does the stove. The place was clean, but old and in need of some TLC. Two hot showers, but the rest lukewarm. The man who greeted us was lovely, no problems with the accommodation per se. We had a long wheel base car and had to park in the tiny spots with a portion of the car jutting into the street. Not fun in the morning when construction vehicles started coming up the road. When we asked the host if we could park in the driveway, we were told rather shortly not to.
Even if it was raining, the quietness of the town and overall cleanliness was great.
My bookings never disappoint. So nice to receive another service in South Africa that gives so much value for money and is so reliable. As a single woman, I feel safe with you. Thank you very, very much!
It was wonderful to enjoy breakfast on my own private deck. The path to the cottage is quite steep, but you enjoy the scenery while walking leisurely.
The accommodation is very nice and clean. Staff members are very friendly and helpful. Something which can improve is maybe a designated braai facility.
The reception was friendly, the atmosphere peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast is served at the residence and it is just peaceful to enjoy it in silence. Very nice stay in the almost forest.

Reception and service were friendly. View beautiful. Would have preferred yogurt with morning muesli and breakfast. Bathroom with shower is very small but room with open plan kitchen part is quite large. Parking on the street feels a bit unsafe to us but understand that it is probably not always possible to park behind a locked gate. Leaks near waterfront.

Very friendly owner and delicious breakfast. The bathroom is very small. The house smells of mould and people held a party on our veranda the first night. Spiders and webs everywhere. Cupboards and drawers with kitchen equipment were very dirty. Veranda with nice view.

Other reviews rave about breakfast on the deck and may set an unrealistic expectation: a basic breakfast is delivered and not "pre table-set", so be prepared to do your own setting, inside or outside, depending on weather. They can tighten up security a lot: no security gates etc. not. The house just above us was also broken into while we were staying there.

Located in what my wife and I experienced as a fairly quiet neighborhood. Safe, neat and clean, even if the decor is of a slightly older style. The highlight was the breakfast on our own private deck, all fresh to enjoy without the hustle and bustle of other people. Can recommend it for the nice seclusion it offers.

Nice place, but some birds were quite loud in the night. The rooms were a little bit old-fashioned with the furnishings, and the fridge was a little bit noisy. Other than that, a good getaway in Knysna.
We had a very nice stay. The surroundings are breathtaking, and the accommodation clean and tidy. We got a friendly reception and the service is great. Parking and the small shower are the only negatives.
