The Bitou Valley House is situated on a cliff overlooking the Bitou Valley and is suited to 6 guests. There is a pool, a braai area with shaded seating and a patio. There is also a fireplace to keep it cosy in winter, and fans for summer. 3 bedrooms, a main bedroom en-suite with bath and separate toilet. The other 2 rooms share a full bathroom and separate toilet. Fully equipped kitchen, and ample parking, completely private.
The communal Fynbosskerm is located 10 - 30 m in front and to the side of the units. It has a large, fully equipped kitchen with a very spacious dining and breakfast room. The lounge and dining area comes fitted with wood-burning stoves for those chilly winter nights. The lounge has DStv with all the important channels. There is a braai pit with seating and awning, braai facilities. Other on-site facilities include a swimming pool, a braai area, a dedicated picnic area with seating, free Wi-Fi and secure parking.

The environment and friendly service make up for the lack of "attention to detail" in the cottage. There were dirty dishes when we arrived, and problems with the water pipes. There was also little privacy after the other guests arrived.
Service was great, check in was easy and the facilities were very comfortable and clean. Security was excellent.
Wonderful vista. Natural environment with beautiful indigenous plants. The artistic hosts are very friendly and helpful. When our daughter joined us at the end of our stay, they went out of their way to ensure that we were all accommodated for an extra night. We loved every moment of our stay.
We attended a wedding in the Harkerville area so needed a place to stay close to the wedding venue, our stay was very short so sadly, we did not get to explore much. Protea Wilds is a very peaceful place - we felt completely safe. It is rustic and spotlessly clean. Amanda is a lovely and friendly host who gave very clear and comprehensive directions and stayed in touch during our stay with regard to power outages etc. She is a darling.
We had a great time. The accommodation has everything one needs. The most beautiful scenery, quiet and peaceful and we even got delicious Woollies biscuits to snack on. Thank you Amanda for your friendly service and for allowing us to bring our baby dog. We will definitely come again!

Amazing place, it's so peaceful you just don't want to go back home! The woods, flowers and silence! It is something indescribable! And the pool is to die for! Protea Wilds Retreat will see us again soon and this time with the whole family.
Amanda and Martin were fantastic hosts. The WiFi was a bit patchy and I felt like I was often at their home to catch up on bookings (I also own a guesthouse). Walks on their property were lovely for my dogs and I as we had it all to ourselves.

Protea Wilds Retreat can be recommended, the place is breathtakingly beautiful. Amanda, the hostess, is professional but very pleasant. The road there is in good condition. If you want to appreciate the Garden Route, Protea Wilds is a good starting point, from here you can drive around to Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.

Our visit to Protea Wilds was way too short. Our room was spacious and well equipped with everything we needed like coffee, towels and the most beautiful view. The gravel road is kept in good condition and Protea Wilds was easy to find. Amanda was very friendly and helpful and sent through all the directions before our stay. We will definitely stay at Protea Wilds again.
The destination is lovely and well located between Plett and Knysna. The house is old, but neat. The old clothes and mittens hanging on the hall stand just made us a bit uncomfortable. Looked as though the people living there were on their way back. The fridge defrosted the meat I put in there for some reason. Other than that, it was really nice! The wine tasting and cattle on the farm are lovely.

It's very nice here and you have everything you need, but the dirt road! Wow! If it rains, you just have to be careful, that's all.
For people who like a more outdoorsy experience, this is definitely the place to be. Beautiful surroundings. The cottage has everything you need. The way to the retreat is less suitable for smaller cars, but certainly not impossible (we did it too).

The accommodation is neat and clean and the staff very friendly. However, it would have been nice for each room to have TV and DStv, because the communal area isn't ideal in rainy weather.
The time was lovely, wished the time wouldn't pass so quickly. I would personally recommend to others as well.
Stunning, one can't believe that you can have so much comfort so close to nature. Annetjie's personal hospitality made our stay extra special. Its a bonus being able to hike alone and not have to worry about someone robbing you.
However, the sound density is not good and you hear every sound from your neighbors. The surroundings are beautiful and very peaceful and safe for walking. There is beautiful fynbos. For families, however, it is a bit remote and you have to drive too far. For those looking for peace and quiet, this is the right place if you can find quiet neighbors. It's wonderful to swim in the heated pool.
