95 guests' feedbackHave a great time and rest well. Unit was very comfortable and everything you need is there.
Very peaceful stay. Cleaning staff should please knock before they enter the room.
Amazing, well located near the farm shop.
A lovely chalet with all you need to enjoy a very comfortable stay. It was clean and tidy upon our arrival. It has its own private little lapa overlooking a spruit at which we saw Nyala and Kudu come down for a drink. The patio too has a lovely view - beautiful trees to provide shade in which Vervet Monkeys play and superb for bird viewing. Walking distance to the pool area and farm shop (putt putt, tennis courts, coffee & curio shop there too).
We saw more wildlife around the chalets than in the field. The driving roads are well maintained and are suitable for small vehicles as well. However, the "4x4" routes are for vehicles that are raised higher. Thank you.
Our stay was very short notice as another chalet was not really our cup of tea. The host made arrangements for us the same morning and we switched over to the accommodation. The unit was very inviting, comfortable and we felt very safe. We didn't feel like we were missing anything, especially when you consider how reasonable the price was. I'd definitely stay there again.
Had a great stay and slept peacefully.
Accommodation is very comfortable.
Very nice and peaceful stay. The tranquility is awesome.
Very nice place. Have a good time on the stoep.
I booked for my parents and they had no complaints. My wife and I are going for a week now, really looking forward to it.
The unit was very neat and clean. The overall environment's maintenance is very run down. The creek is so precious, but is overwhelmed with dry branches and paper that fills the world. The site is badly washed away and left to remain so.
The braai area was not clean - garbage bags were lying around and there was also half-burnt wood. Cleaning services did not arrive on Saturday.
See stars.
I stayed in Pumba Chalet A and it was lovely. It is a small unit, which is very clear from the pictures, but it has all of the amenities needed and more. We found the unit to be clean, the housekeeper friendly and helpful.
Lovely place. Thank you.
It was a quiet weekend. Saw a lot of wildlife and will definitely book there again. Walking distance from shop and swimming pool.
We enjoyed our visit very much! Owner's instructions were very clear, and we had no problems. Location is fantastic, right by the little shop and activity center, very neat and clean, and the separate private treehouse next to the river is a big bonus! Saw a few bucks at the unit by the river every day! For 2 people, I would definitely recommend it for a great getaway! The only recommendation I would make is the addition of wifi which nowadays is basically a must for everyone.
Our stay at Pumba Lodge was wonderful from start to finish. The accommodation is small, but very well equipped and comfortable. It was also very peaceful among the beautiful vegetation, birds and animals. I can recommend it for a very nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
We really enjoyed our stay. The unit is well furnished and tidy upon arrival. Even the elephants came to visit. It is nicely centrally located near shops, a swimming pool, restaurants, etc. Here you can enjoy the peace of the forest in comfort. Thank you very much, it was delicious.
I found the noise from the pool across the road was a bit much the one day. But really not enough to spoil our stay.
So we were part of the Mabalingwe fire that broke out. Pumba chalet is well equipped with everything one might need, we really appreciated the air conditioner especially the first day when we got there and it was hot. The shower with its incredibly good pressure was a big plus as many showers are a frustration for me. Linens could be upgraded a bit? The boma area's chairs were also not really clean when we got there, the cleaners might have to pay attention to that (lots of cobwebs and such). The warthogs came to surprise us, quite a few of them with the little ones, we enjoyed it tremendously. Pumba chalet is conveniently close to the pool area and restaurants. We visited the Vultures restaurant for the rugby and it really is a nice restaurant with a very nice view. Was at Kalahari Oasis also the day after the fire broke out while they were cleaning up. It still stands. And then a big thank you to Maretha who so nicely passed on all the arrangements to us and kept us informed of the fire danger so that we could evacuate in time and leave the reserve safely. She also offered to either compensate us for the 2 nights we had to miss or that we could book another weekend. We chose the second option as we definitely want to go back and "explore" further. It's a lovely reserve and I would definitely recommend it.
It was so fun! We had everything you need to just enjoy the time. The owners are friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit again! All the Pumbaa's who come to visit every day, the goats, birds etc. was definitely our highlight! Cleaning lady also friendly and tidy, she could only put more effort into wiping the place thoroughly before arrival and making sure everything is nice and clean, especially the toilet! But that's small compared to the unforgettable time we had! Thank you very much!
Place was well equipped! We also really liked our own private boma.
Our door was opened to show that they can come in but they just passed screaming to each other. They cleaned 270, 267A, and other chalets. And the previous year we were there for 3 nights and the chalets were cleaned every day. But everything was excellent.
I asked the owner for an extra person. Wow, she even made the single beds double and put in a bunker bed. Also mentioned to her about the toilet with loose tiles. The photo below was even better.
The chalet is wonderfully equipped and is centrally located. It was very peaceful and quiet, and we will definitely visit again.
Small and compact with everything you need for a good stay and a nice patio for hanging out outside. Own boma that is in nature. Apparently elephants visit there regularly. Unfortunately I missed it.
Will definitely use you again and come to Pumba Chalets, Mabalingwe again.
We had a really nice stay. Perfect getaway from the city. Aunt Maretha and uncle André are very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be visiting again and again.
We enjoyed our stay.
Neat place with a peaceful atmosphere to feed the soul.
Was very nice, everything was there.
Neat place, the unit already has everything one could possibly need! Would definitely recommend them for a peaceful getaway.
Beautiful surroundings and river running past the chalets was awesome.
We enjoy the Elephant Camp the most. Childlike excitement when the elephants visit us on our front porch.
See stars.
No provision for load shedding. No rechargeable lights available. No electric blankets.
Very serious roof leak in the kitchen, due to the rain the kitchen was under water most of the weekend which caused the light and switch in the kitchen to trip the power all the time, so we couldn't use the kitchen. Cleaner just threw dry towels over all the water so I think they are aware of that. Kitchen was a mess all the time with the lot of rain of the weekend.
Lekkerste naweek ooit.
Thanks for all the effort.
Had a nice stay with a nice view of the forest. Animals came to visit us and made the stay pleasant. Could have a nice early morning coffee on the stoep and enjoy nature. A bonus was the cleaning of the unit every day.
Lovely house with everything you need for a weekend in the woods. Very clean and tidy. We enjoyed all the warthogs and monkeys and goats around the house!
We had a nice rest this week. A place where you can find peace and rest for your soul. Thank you for the beautiful fully equipped chalet. We really enjoyed it among the animals. Thank you for the excellent customer service. We will definitely visit again.
Will definitely recommend.
Family with two toddlers. We had a wonderful time. Very well located and exceeded our expectations.
Had a wonderful weekend.
Enjoyed having the warthogs and squirrels on my doorstep. Didn't enjoy it when the monkeys (like a well-trained gang) stole my whole bag of biscuits from the kitchen within seconds. The separate small bomas were also nice and private. The goats are everywhere. The dirt roads are in good condition.
It was peaceful. Saw quite a few goats and warthogs at our chalet. Even abundant birdlife at the boma and river. Definitely worth it.
We had a great time. It was so peaceful. It's nice when the animals come to greet you on the porch.
It was a very nice visit but will definitely have to pay more attention to the maintenance outside. The outside light caused power to trip all the time and was fixed after 2 days. Braai on the stoep was rusted through and couldn't braai well, but all the positives make the visit over Christmas worth it. Definitely book again.
See stars.
We really like the arrangement that we didn't have to check in anywhere and that the key was easily available. Everything clean and tidy. Feel free to do so.
The unit is small, however functions well for 2 adults and one small child with DStv, the braai area is well situated and the aircon was welcomed in the heat. You are close to all the activities, pool, tennis courts, shop and restaurant. We were very happy with our stay and would perhaps go back again in the near future. We only had two concerns, the towels and linnen did not smell good, so I'm not sure how long it was in the unit, or if washed before. Then as the units are very close to each other, we had neighbours that were very loud, drinking and coming in late, which woke us up, not what you want to expect when seeking tranquility in nature.
It is a perfect, neat and beautiful place with everything you need for a getaway. Would definitely recommend to people who want to get away and relax a bit.
Skoon, veilig, rustig, baie om te sien en doen.
Had a great time. Everyone was very friendly and the place we stayed in was clean and tidy. Definitely value for money.
Enjoyed the game drives and braai facility.
We enjoyed our break away time at Pumba - just a shame the time went by so quickly.
My parents and I booked Pumba A and B. The units have everything you could possibly need for self-catering and more! The verandas overlook the river course with lush, natural vegetation. The animals and birds literally come to visit you! Many thanks again to Maretha for all her efforts to check in regularly. Just about Mabalingwe in general: The coffee shop has delicious light lunches. Furthermore, make sure you pack everything, the store has very basic stock. It was also a shame to see the decay of the once lovely restaurant upstairs at reception as well as the strange hours they are open.
We will definitely come back and also recommend it to our friends.
The unit is nice and clean. Very well furnished. We lacked nothing.
We spent our birthday weekend at Pumba Chalets. It was absolutely wonderful.
Als was nice and clean will definitely go again - first class.
Thank you for a great experience. Very friendly and efficient service. Will most definitely visit again.
The chalet is very comfortable and has everything you need for a break from the city
We had a great time relaxing during our 5 day stay. Unit very clean and tidy. Being able to sit quietly in the boma and braai, while the animals graze along the stream, was pleasant.
Had a great time, very clean.
The unit is very neat and of high quality, everything you might need is available. Very nice stay, just a pity for the neighbors who didn't disturb the park rules on Saturday evening with their music and noise. Other than that we enjoyed every moment. Will definitely book with Pumba A again.
Delicious and homey! Maretha met us with special requests!
All the arrangements went smoothly. We appreciate the good quality of communication. Our expectations were exceeded in general!
Enjoyed our getaway, children loved it too!
Thank you very much.
A neat and clean unit! The air cooling was a winner in the heat we experienced. Will definitely go again.
The chalet met my requirements exactly! I manage and own shares in a busy guest house and now and then need to break away on my own. Couldn't have asked for better! The private boma earns extra points. I could make my own fire and calmly watch the ibex with a glass of wine. Thank you guys! I'm coming again!
Nice stay. Wonderful place.
We booked 2 days at Pumba chalets before we would move to our timeshare. Pumba chalets are a very well maintained 2-bed unit. They have everything you need. The lot of rain ensured a special view, which we have not experienced in 30 years of visits to Mabalingwe. Although we experienced everything incredibly well, just one criticism. The fridge is very small for a self catering unit and the freezer section did not freeze and we were forced to carry our heavy camp freezer to the unit to keep our meat and ice frozen.
Neat, comfortable accommodation with everything you need at hand. Lots to do! Friendly owners! Lovely weekend away. My kids didn't want to go home!
Loved the location as well as the layout and comfort of the unit. Saturday afternoon noise from pool area a bit inconvenient (music and entertainment etc.).
Small but well laid out. Game drives well worth it with expert and informative guide. Thanks Steven.
It was very very nice. We enjoyed every moment. Has everything you need. Walking distance to the shop and pool.
For sure value for money. Will go again. Very clean and tidy.
Comfortable chalets ideal for families with children. Air conditioning is a big plus! Located within walking distance of swimming pool, cafe, coffee shop, pit-pit and other activities.
Everthing was great except for the braai area which we had to clean.
Neat, good value for money. Enjoyed it a lot. Will definitely go again.
The gate did not have our vehicle license number which the owner of Pumba Chalets did provide.
On arrival we found the place clean and tidy. Coincidentally, the owners (Maretha and Andre) were in the chalet next door (the friendliest people you will ever meet). The unit really has everything you can think of that you will use e.g. plates, knives, forks, cups, pans etc. Note that this is "self-catering" so you still need to bring your own food, coffee, etc. but beyond that, everything you can think of is there. Something I should also say is we have a 3 year old boy, Maretha was kind enough to give us additional bedding for him to sleep on on the "sleeper couch". Everything is nice and clean, from the bathroom to the braai area. Maretha and Andre really made us feel at home. I would recommend the place to anyone anytime. Mabalingwe (the resort) itself was brilliant, we saw good game and the spawn is accessible even for small vehicles. Andre kept us informed every morning of where the buffalo, rhinoceros etc. were seen. In short, this is a really fantastic place, the owners are really friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home and comfortable. 10/10!
We enjoyed the weekend at Pumba Chalets!
The revamped chalet is modern, neat and has everything you need to sleep, braai and cook like a king! Nice boma area and everything is new. Great getaway destination, we will be back.
I highly recommend Pumba Chalet to any couple. It's really a nice little nest in the forest.
Was a very nice weekend, if only it had been right. May have missed an oven but managed without one. Cold pool is close by, hot pool is a cool walk up the mountain.
The accommodation was cosy, neat and clean. We had a herd of elephants right on our doorstep, what an amazing experience. We will definitely go back!
Glad you are busy with renovations, but it was a bit noisy to stay in the chalet next door. Then the noise of the leave blowing machine from before 8 am and the electric saw machines the whole day. But over all was it a pleasant stay and for us a good break away from the normal routine.
Although mainly small game, the wildlife is very active and is in great variety. The chalet is small, but comfortable for 2 people. Unfortunately, the outside porch is not screened and one effectively shares the same porch with neighbors. The boma for each unit is quite a surprise.
