The staff were accommodating and always willing to assist. David was in contact with us on the day of our arrival. We had supper at the restaurant, nice meals and value for money.
We had a wonderful stay. We were received very kindly and the same person was our waiter/cook and bartender and acted so professionally and kindly!
We were received kindly and the room was clean, tidy and comfortable. Enjoyed watching rugby in the restaurant.
We slept over one night on the way to the coast and luckily found out in advance that the kitchen closes at 8pm. The manager made a menu available via WhatsApp and we pre-ordered food which they would have ready shortly before 8. Due to heavy traffic (and getting out of the city late) we realized we were going to arrive later than planned and communicated this to the driver. We were kindly received with a lovely fireplace burning in the restaurant and the kitchen remained open until we arrived (without us requesting it!). Very nice food. The burger on the menu is rather a children's portion, but the schnitzel and spaghetti bolognese were a winner. Chalet clean and comfortable, but due to gale-force winds the chalet door rattled all evening, which was a bit disturbing, but otherwise it's the perfect pit stop.
Very nice stay. Friendly service. Clean chalets. Nice in restaurant.
The reception was friendly and they also called to see if we would be in time for dinner. Just look carefully at the GPS (the turn can easily catch you out).
Pyramids Motel was a perfect stopover. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, the chalet was quirky and clean, it was everything we needed, including a very welcome electric warm blanket on the bed.
Friendly staff. Fantastic view and delicious meals.
My wife and I had a great stay. The place is clean and the food is great.
The accommodation is clean and tidy. We really enjoyed dinner. The scenery was beautiful.
What a wonderful place, the staff are so friendly and helpful, and the room was absolutely spotless and very comfortable for a quick stay over. We ate at the restaurant, which had a good selection to choose from. We will definitely stay again.
Yes, it is on our route and affordable.
This is our second time to stay over, and just like the first time, the food was value for money, the staff and service were friendly and professional. We will use Pyramids again next time we travel to KZN and back. Extra coffee, sugar and milk for both evening and morning would be very nice (or at least offered as an add-on on checking in).
We were travelling for our annual couples retreat and the hospitality was amazing. Fetsi, our host, was the best and the scenery was breathtaking. We will definitely be back in the years to come.
We slept over one night. When we arrived there was no one at reception. It felt like there was one person who had to try to do everything. Dinner (prepared by the same person) was delicious. Definitely worth the money. Would recommend it as a stopover on the way to the South Coast. The shower head is a bit low. My husband could not stand comfortably in the shower.
Was nice and clean and a comfortable accommodation for an overnight stay.
It was sufficient for one night's sleepover.
Place is very cute. Very "cosy". Nice place to sleep for the night on the way to the south coast.
Nice comfortable room. Friendly staff, great food and service.
It was wonderfully clean and tidy. My husband and I had a great stay.
Visited as a group and we had an amazing stay. The place has lots of character and amazing views. Our host was just beyond amazing.
My partner and I stayed here for a night on our way back to Pretoria from George. We absolutely loved it. The bathroom had a few ants in the bath, the shower head was a bit low, and the beds were rather hard. But it's not a deal breaker at all! The pyramid chalets were very interesting and unique, with a mostly lovely view (the highway is pretty to watch at night). Our host was an absolute star and was so accommodating. The restaurant served delicious food (we highly recommend the Sate!). We would absolutely stay here again as a halfway stop.
It was very nice. Missed a fridge a lot with our cold refreshments.
Very nice stay. We couldn't find a place in Harrismith for my daughters fidget spinner so we decided to stay at the Pyramid and we don't regret it.
It was delicious! Perfect for a half-way stopover.
Nice stay, will stay there again. All we struggled with was getting down to the gate, no one answered intercom, only to find out later there was a code to get the gate open. Reception did not provide advance code. But otherwise we had a nice stay.
Stay was so pleasant, beautiful place with delicious and well priced restaurant. Well cared for and friendly service.
Definitely thank you very much. It was very comfortable and the food was delicious.
Sufficient for a quick one-night stay.
Reception was very friendly and helpful. Chalet a bit old fashioned, but at least clean. I just don't understand at all why there isn't a smaller step into the shower. I couldn't use it at all because not the high step.
Interesting place. Would not recommend their food to anyone - rip off!
Shower in bathtub is very low and uncomfortable. Lots of road noise from N3.
Good for a stopover on the trip to Joburg.
The location is good in terms of the view of the surrounding mountains, but unfortunately very close to the road. Vehicles passing by are disturbing right through the night. Unfortunately, the units are not practical, as the sink is very difficult to reach due to the pyramidal nature of the design on the inside. The food at the restaurant was nice, thank you.
So so. Was worried about items that had to be refrigerated overnight. No fridge or microwave in room. Inconvenient.
Place is clean. Beds are top notch. They might think to make the lighting brighter.
It was something different and very cute.
Place was comfortable and practically laid out. The spaghetti Bolognese was particularly flavorful. Restaurant nice, just a bit small on such a rainy day, service good. You hardly hear the traffic on the highway.
We had a very nice stay. Thank you for allowing our dog too.
Fantastic units for overnight stays, with a delicious menu for meals.
Enjoyed the stay in the peaceful atmosphere and came to rest wonderfully.
Beautiful sunsets and sunrises in the mountains. Nice restaurant on site. Friendly service. Will definitely make plans to sleep over on the way to the sea instead.
The units are very cute, clean and tidy. The service of the people is excellent and everyone is very friendly.
Very neat and clean!
Great and friendly reception. Tasty dinner of your own choice available. Will stay here again. All the staff are friendly. Bed neat and comfortable. Everything one needs. The restaurant that also provides take away meals makes everything easier. Thank you very much.
Pyramids Motel is absolutely a great place to stay. We will definitely use them again in the future. We were also surprised with the delicious food they served. It was definitely value for money. To the staff we want to say a big THANK YOU. Their kindness and good service was great!
Very quiet and staff are friendly.
We were warmly received, the room has everything one needs. It is clean and tidy and very comfortable. The food was excellent and the service there was very good. We will definitely stay there again.
Thank you very much for the neat, clean chalet, thank you for the electric blanket in winter, we had a welcome sleepover.
I was pleasantly surprised by the generous, helpful and friendly reception by Fetsi. The Pyramids Motel is everything and more as advertised. The rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. The units and grounds are very neat and clean. The restaurant's dishes are definitely recommendable. Here Fetsi's service can be praised again. This young man is definitely an asset to the motel. Travelers can feel free to include the Pyramids Motel in your travel plan, it's worth it!
Thank you very much.
Incredibly cute overnight accommodation between Pretoria and the South Coast. Friendly staff and delicious food at the restaurant.
Just what you need for an overnight stay if you have to drive far.
Service was exceptional.
The rooms are neat and clean, and the rates are affordable. The view from the motel is breathtaking and there is a restaurant on site that offers delicious meals. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is secure parking available. I would definitely recommend the Pyramids Motel to any traveler looking for a comfortable overnight stay in Van Reenens Pass.
Very neat and clean.
Would recommend the stay.
Just the right place to sleep over between JHB and South Coast. Very nice view.
Maybe a small bar fridge in each unit.
We always enjoy our stay at the Pyramids. Friendly staff and a beautiful view. Content.
Service, staff and accommodation was excellent.
The customer service was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is a good overnight stop.
Nice stay. The food is disappointing.
Was a comfortable stay with friendly staff and a nice dinner.
Rooms are neat.
Very neat place, clean, would only say that they should provide blankets it gets very cold in the morning hours. Just not tall people friendly, especially the bathroom.
It was easy to book. The feedback was quick and complete. Our Cairo room and en suite was clean and comfortable and the breakfast nice, but a little expensive. The traffic on the N3 didn't bother us, but a gale raged around the building. Pyramid was a good place to stay because there aren't really any other places available in the area and Harrismith has gone down a lot.
We received good service and attention at all times. The bathroom at Pyramids Motel was a bit on the small side, especially the toilet which was not easily accessible when standing. Not having a TV was a bit of a letdown, but it's something I didn't check for in the first place.
Just a pity the restaurant/bar closed at 7 o'clock and we couldn't watch the Springboks against the All Blacks.
Fetsi is the manager of Pyramids Motel and goes out of his way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Would definitely recommend it.
Very pleasant, really enjoyed.
Clean, tidy, peaceful overnight accommodation between Gauteng and KZN.
See stars.
Lovely space for the kids to run around outside with a jungle gym area, on-site restaurant and farm stall. Everything was tidy and in good working order. The gentleman who assisted us was great.
We would definitely stay there again and would also recommend it. The cottages are special and cute to stay in. Positive criticism: The stairs to the bathroom can cause a big problem if one is not aware of it and, especially for the elderly, it can lead to injuries if you misstep there. I recommend that a notice be put up to warn of the presence of the stairs and perhaps if the stairs be designated with glitter tape. I would also recommend that an extra light be installed in the bathroom where it does not shine into the guests' eyes during the night when the light is left on, as we did, precisely to prevent one from falling there and into the don't end up in a bath. Otherwise the stay was pleasant and value for money. Thank you very much.
Will definitely stay again if I'm on the trail. Food was delicious.
Was housed in Unit 3. Interesting accommodation, but the bathroom is extremely impractical. Water everywhere when you shower and no adult is going to be able to use the sink against the sloping wall with ease. The units are showing their age and renovation is needed sooner rather than later. Please also give the unit some fresh air, as even our clothes smelled of detergent the next day after we left.
Will use Pyramids again to stay overnight.
Very unique place and the small children enjoyed it. Just won't eat at the restaurant again.
The place was nice and clean and everything worked. It is very basic and the bed is not very comfortable. Although this is a "motel", I have stayed at several places with better amenities and the same price. I would not recommend the food at the restaurant at all. Definitely just a one night stay and then on again.
It's a unique place, but I wouldn't stay there again.
Unfortunately, our overnight stay was unpleasant. There was clearly cigarette smoke residue in the room. As an asthmatic, I experienced a very restless night. An attempt was made to remove the smoke smell, but unfortunately the chemical smell made my asthma attacks worse. We couldn't risk using our reservation on our return trip. The entryway needs attention.
The architectural design is not conducive to a comfortable stay. The bathroom is small and the slanting roof is impractical for toilet and handbasin usage. If you are taller than 1.8m you will not be able to use the shower comfortably. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good.
Friendly staff, well-maintained (and fascinating) chalets, and breathtaking views of Van Reenens Pass. We enjoyed our stay at the motel which provided the perfect rest stop between KZN and Gauteng. Thank you for accommodating our dogs too!
Couple and young baby. There was enough room for our camping cot and we could still move around comfortably. Will stay over again.
Wonderful place to stay with beautiful views. We would use it again and I would recommend it to anyone, mainly because of the excellent and friendly staff that goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. Their excellent food is just a bonus.
Pyramids motel is a very nice and tidy place to spend the night. Very convenient that they have a restaurant on site.
Nice view, very nice rooms and very good service.
Very Nice. Nice view. Stunning service and food.
Closed to the highway, perfect overnight on our way down to Durban.
Good, clean place to sleep for a stopover.
Wonderful overnight stay. Mr F was an excellent guide.
We were referred by friends to use Pyramids. The sleeping place was neat and clean. We used some of the restaurant and the food was of high quality. Many thanks to David for making us feel so welcome. Will definitely use the Pyramids again in the future.
What I do suggest is that outside, between the chalets, benches are placed to be able to appreciate the view more.
Thank you very much, it shortened the road to Durban significantly. The Pyramids Motel is very cozy and we were well rested for the next leg of the road to the beach. The reception was very friendly and helpful.
The manager on duty, David was the best. He inquired about what time he could expect us and if he could keep the restaurant open for us. Definitely worth it as an overnight stop in terms of value for money and service.
Unit was well equipped. Warm blankets, as well as nice, thick feather blankets are pluses. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
It felt like another world. The fireplace was a bonus in the cold. Dinner was nice and value for money. It was an experience 1000. Definitely an evening that we as a family will remember for a long time.
I would definitely recommend this accommodation. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our stay was definitely an experience. Slept and ate great after a long, stressful road trip.
Very interesting units and well equipped.
We had an amazing experience at Pyramids. We were two hours late with our check in and David from Pyramids called me to see if we had any problems on the way. David is really so kind and caring. The rooms were clean and tidy. Our meal at Pyramids was delicious and it was very cozy with friendly staff. Pyramids will be our overnight stay place again.
The cottage, slightly cramped in some areas, is comfortable, well located and very cutely designed. Noise from the highway was surprisingly, almost totally absent. Can recommend the restaurant.
We were surprised with the cleanliness and convenience of the unit. Their restaurant served delicious food. The roads on site could use more attention.
Good for your soul, mind. Just relax.
What a unique place with amazing views. Loved the Pyramid rooms, staff were so friendly and helpful. Was the perfect overnight stop and they have a restaurant on the premises.
We stopped at Pyraminds on our way back tonight to the coast for one night. Beautiful and friendly welcome by very professional staff. Have stayed there before and definitely will again. Thank you very much Pyramids. It was very nice. Rooms were nicely prepared for our arrival. Thank you very much. The restaurant was very nice and the food was delicious.
Just slept over for a night, als 100%.
Baie dankie!
People received us extremely well! Had a great meal in the restaurant and everything was clean and comfortable.
Lovely place to stay, would use again and recommend. Their service and food are excellent and they go out of their way to make you feel at home.
Friendly staff. Neat place.
Very convenient to break the travel. Beautiful views and good service and clean.
Would like to thank the staff at Pyramids Motel for excellent service. No effort was spared to make our stay pleasant. In particular, I would like to single out David and Tstetsi by name as helpful and friendly. The lady who served the food in the restaurant was also very friendly. Unfortunately can't remember her name. Thank you very much again.
Was a wonderful over night stop en route to South Coast. Fun little chalets, spotless, everything you need is provided. The mattress was just a bit hard, but other than that, no complaints. Restaurant has good food.
Ate delicious fish in restaurant. Missed TV and DStv.
If a comfortable overnight stay is your goal, Pyramind is the place. Convenient, no nonsense. Booked two rooms but could only use one due to illness, management kindly agreed that I could use the other one later. Omelettes were something special.
The height of the roof is very uncomfortable for taller people.
We had a good service, also the guest were nice. A bit noisy from the busy road.
Very nice stay. Everything neat and in good working order. Nice meal at restaurant. Friendly service.
We stayed in the most beautiful room! It was quite an experience! We stayed in the family room it felt like we were staying in another country. Our own Arabian night in SA! Very neat and beautiful and very friendly staff!
Very nice environment. Unfortunately did not make use of the restaurant facilities.
View is beautiful. Worker goes out of their way to help people.
Pleasant with friendly staff. For us older persons who used 3 rooms, the showers or baths are uncomfortable and even dangerous to use. So despite a pleasant stay, unfortunately will not easily consider staying there again. Roads within premises need attention.
Pleasant and delightful stay. Very friendly and was a nice overnight place for us. Will definitely stay there again and again.
Something unique, peaceful, friendly and helpful staff.
Beautiful place. House is beautiful and clean. Incredible nature.
Customer service is good, location is fantastic, unit has everything you need, just needs some attention.
Place is very neat and well located between Johannesburg and KwaZulu-Natal with a very nice view.
We were received very kindly and all the staff are helpful and friendly. The houses are very cute (we tall people had a little trouble with the shower). It's a shame that there are no hiking trails, because the surroundings are very beautiful.
It was nice to be there and the staff were very friendly and very helpful.
The place is safe and the service was very friendly and efficient. The restaurant's service and food were also delicious. It's the perfect spot for an overnight pit stop.
Pyramids Motel needs updating. The rooms as well as the restaurant menu is dated.
Accommodation comfortable, clean, well designed and highly recommended.
Stop over location for long distance travel.
Upgrade to a room from chalet (chalet was stinking hot) and was overcharged for the room. The manager, although friendly and helpful, did not want to listen to reason.
It's the weirdest bathrooms. You can't stand and do number 1. Neither of us used the tub. It felt dirty. They say that they have a restaurant, but from the whole menu we could only order a few things. The food was awful. All that was good were the ribs. The coffee was bad.
The place was extremely beautiful and clean. We were able to have a nice barbecue that evening and the children had a great time frolicking on the lawn and space.
Friendly service. Clean and tidy accommodation with a good location.
Had a great sleep over as always.
Ideally located between Pretoria and Ballito to break travel and rest!
Friendly service. Quiet and peaceful place with a most beautiful view of Van Reenenspas.
Had a friendly reception. Accommodation was very nice and a fireplace was lit for us on arrival. Had a great time at Pyramids Motel and recommend it to anyone!
See stars.
Als was tops, my wife and I arrived just after 17:00. Was very warmly welcomed and taken to our room, the room was very nice clean and tidy. We also had a very nice dinner at the restaurant. All we would recommend is a key box or something where you can put the room key for when, like us, you drive again early in the morning. We should have left our room key in the door. Otherwise it was excellent! Will definitely visit again!
Pyramids is very conveniently located (right next to the N3) as an overnight destination. Friendly, professional staff. Chalets are neat and comfortable. Will stay again in the future.
We will definitely stay there again.
It was more than I expected and definitely worth it.
We would check into Pyramids Motel again anytime. The reception was very friendly, the accommodation is beautiful and unique. There is enough parking. The traffic is not disturbing at all during the night.
Room clean and tidy. Calm atmosphere. Friendly welcome.
See stars.
Very nice location. Everything neat. Dinner was good value for money.
Will definitely stay between Pretoria and Durban again.
We usually stop here as an overnight stop between Gauteng and Natal. As always, everything was nice and clean, the reception is incredibly helpful (even at 20h00 in the evening) and breakfast was really nice.
Would stay there again anytime. Their customer service is top notch.
Nice and clean with a nice restaurant.
After a long rest, it is wonderful to eat at the restaurant and then go to sleep peacefully.
I applaud the assistance and willingness of both the gentlemen on the front desk (Name starts with an F, however I can't remember) and also to Dudu (Also on the front desk. I had a few requests of them and they not only were willing to listen, they were able to both provide solutions and/or alternatives. Additionally the meal I had was excellent. Both in service and taste/presentation. Way above the standards I have experienced in other more pricey establishments. Perhaps the only suggestion I could make is to place a bar fridge in the rooms.
Friendly service and affordable. Would love to stay there again.
Friendly service food is very tasty view is breathtakingly beautiful.
Very friendly reception and waiter. It has a beautiful view.
Pleasant accommodation, neat and clean, bathroom a bit inconvenient for senior citizens. Friendly service. Eat well. Safety good.
Upon arrival I was welcomed by name. I was there two years ago, but they remembered me. The dinner was delicious, superbly prepared.
Friendly service, food in restaurant was good and reasonably priced. One negative was the bed which slept very hard.
Restaurant's food was tasty. Good service at reception. Room was clean and tidy.
Everything was very clean. Will visit again.
It was very neat. All problem is that the location sent from where the place is located is not correct.
Great location. Staff were absolutely wonderful, friendly and helpful. Would advise travelers to buy milk, cold drink etc. before arrival, if you like your coffee, etc., so you do not have to ask for milk servings from the reception every time. That is if you stay in the rooms of the motel (it has a small bar fridge).
Pyramids Motel has a very warm feel, with friendly staff. We had a very nice stay and would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay overnight.
The fan in room is stuck and could not move around.
Nice stopover on the way to Port Shepstone. Enjoy good food at the restaurant too.
Kindly I would like to thank Pyramids Motel with their good staff, indeed much appreciated.
A bit noisy because it is against the N3, but the most incredible view when the sun comes up, it's very beautiful.
We had a nice stay, and got very cold. But thanks for warm blanket. Will stay there again.
Nice halfway stop to sleep over.
Staff are very friendly and helpful and make guests feel at home and comfortable.
Bar did not stock all the drinks on the available list. But you also understand. Food was excellent.
500g T-bone was probably not even 300g and Full Ribs were only 4 pieces. Can pay attention to restaurant.
It was nice, comfortable and clean - the kids loved the triangle bungalows and the triangle bath tubs.
Friendly reception, neat units and everything you need for a night's sleep in fresh mountain air.
Bathroom and shower are not made for tall people.
Nice overnight stop when traveling on the road.
Slept very well. Room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was just a bit of a disappointment. The food is not what you expect when you look at the price, a bit expensive and the food is little and not quite up to standard. Recommendation: small fridge in room for cold water or soft drinks.
Well received.
Was disappointed because there were no fridge facilities, my husband is sick and his medicine needs to be stored in a cool place. The place is by the side of the road and the trucks during the night also make it difficult to sleep. We booked 2 nights but only stayed one night. Feel that the overnight rates are a bit much for what it offers.
Very nice view. Neat overnight accommodation. Nice meal in the restaurant.
The Pyramids motel is close to tourist attractions such as the Little Church which is 5 minutes away and the view of the Drakensberg is beautiful.
The houses are very clean and tidy. Unfortunately there is no fridge in the cottage.
Poor service, poor restaurant.
Great food at the restaurant. Staff seemed a little scarce but the guy that helped us with check-in and dinner was really great and on top of his game.
Average. Not good and showers don't work.
Very friendly and clean. Food at the restaurant was delicious!
The only improvement we can suggest is a bar fridge in the rooms and a okay area fir kids. The staff and management were friendly and very helpful top class.
The place is beautiful and even though it is next to the highway it is very peaceful. The nature makes a person calm and leaves you with a relaxed mind and body. All the staff is very friendly and professional.
Comfortable and neat.
Good food, value for money. Stay there every year.
After 45 years, we finally got the opportunity to sleep over there. The stay was wonderful. Everything was clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Problem we did have was the breakfast which was a bit expensive for what you get: 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon and 2 slices of bread - half toasted. R70. It was a bit bad. Furthermore, we were very satisfied with everything. Thank you. We will definitely stay there again.
See stars.
Restaurant was a plus. Was nice to order food and not make it myself after a long journey.
Peggy is a wonderful person who immediately made us feel at home.
Pyramid Motel is our favorite overnight stay when we go to the beach. It has a beautiful view of the mountains as well as Van Reenenspass. We were also contacted earlier to hear what time they could expect us as well as to let us know that there is a restuarant on site and whether we would like dinner. All staff have received us kindly every time and are very helpful and friendly.
Very nice half way accommodation en route from the coast to Gauteng and back.
Very basic accommodation, but adequate for an overnight stay and for the price. Very neat and clean. No fridge. Service was very good and friendly. Had a very nice dinner at a restaurant at a very reasonable price.
In the room there is only a kettle. At least one would have liked to have a small bar fridge to keep your food and milk and water cold. But for the price you just accept the little inconvenience.
The staff is friendly and professional. The chalets distinctive, clean and sufficient for overnight purposes. We enjoyed delicious dinners and breakfasts.
The motel is perfectly located for travelers using the N3 between Johannesburg and Durban. The units are neat and adequately equipped for an overnight stop. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed it a lot.
The staff were very nice and helpful.
Could do with safe shelter for vehicles.
Ideal to spend the night before resuming your journey.
The location of Pyramids is ideally located on the way to the South Coast. We are from Polokwane and it split our trip in two which made it very convenient. The residential units are neat, but old and shabby. However, the Pyramid design is totally impractical and the bathroom cramped. The stairs down to the bathroom and the sunken tub/shower are potentially dangerous for seniors. The service was good and the restaurant's food delicious.
Unit was clean. Aircon would be nice as the fan barely helped with the heat.
Enjoyed a lot. Will definitely stay there again.
Beautiful place in a beautiful setting, with excellent service and delicious breakfast!
Very pleasant overnight stop. Sleeping facilities very well furnished and offer the necessary. Staff very efficient and friendly.
We were received very kindly and nothing was too much trouble for the staff if we asked for anything. You guys have a plus team there. We really appreciated everything. Thank you.
We had a stop-over on our way from Durban to Oliver Tambo Airport in Johannesburg and we found the place absolutely satisfactory in every aspect. We would have loved to stay for a few days, but our flight was booked.
The staff are very helpful and friendly.
The receptionist's service was fantastic! We had bad traffic from Wesrand and she waited for us until 21:40. Thank you for your excellent service. Would definitely recommend you.
The places need upgrading, but we were very happy with the place. The view was very nice, cars on the main road can be heard, but it doesn't really bother you. It was a bit warm, but the fan helped.
We were very well received, receptionist is friendly and helpful. Thanks for borrowing us the freezer, we will definitely stay there again, we recommend, dinner and breakfast very nice, and value for money. Thank you.
The staff were very friendly from reception to dinner. Dinner was very nice. We spent the night in one of the detached units. The structure of the unit makes it difficult for a taller person. Needs some TLC.
Friendly staff. Neat accommodation. Effortless booking and had a nice meal. Thanks, Pyramids.
Very nice stay, place was clean and tidy. Food was delicious at the restaurant and staff very friendly.
We stayed there for two nights and really enjoyed the place. We have known the motel for years and have to say since we last stayed there things have improved a lot. We received excellent service and would definitely recommend staying there.
Thank you very much, Pyramids Motel. We had a wonderful stay. Friendly staff and owner, clean and food was delicious.
It was our first time staying here. We arrived late, but were kindly received. Enjoyed a delicious breakfast the next morning. The traffic on the N3 didn't really bother me. Reception area is very beautifully decorated. Egyptian theme used very nicely.
Will book again. Lovely place.
From a young age we drove past and wondered about the pyramids. Now we've spend the night at the Pyramids. The motel and units are beautiful and comfortable. The restaurant and lounge are beautiful and neat. The friendly service and delicious meals surprised. The accommodation was comfortable and unique with a beautiful view. Definitely back on the must-do list.
Beautiful unit, friendly staff, value for money.
Enjoyed it a lot, good location for travellers.
Conveniently located near highway.
Had a great stay. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautiful.
Greeted and showed around the property. Views are spectacular. Beautiful restaurant.
Go there regularly, always clean and very helpful staff.
We were kindly received and Martha quickly made us feel at home. The view of the mountains was fantastic.
It was our third time there. Very good service, friendly and helpful staff. Clean and tidy. Will go again for sure. Thank you.
Had a very good experience with friendly staff and neat facilities. Definitely good value for money.
Staying at Pyramids Motel is just a pleasure. The personnel are always friendly and helpful, had such a nice time with them.
Will definitely book here again. The service from Peggy and the staff was great.
Clean and tidy, nice halfway to sea, restaurant just a little bit expensive.
Perfekte oornagplek tussen Pretoria en Suidkus met 3 tieners en ‘n ouma - het die Egiptiese styl eenheid baie geniet. Aandete was ook heerlik.
The self-catering unit is very unique and convenient. Definitely worth a try. Will come again.
The beds were wonderful to sleep on, everything was just awesome, will spend the night there again.
Upon arrival, one is always received kindly. Dinner is delicious and the rooms are cozy with electric blankets to keep the cold away and ensure a good night's rest. Thank you, we will come again.
Was a very beautiful area with breathtaking view. We went for our honeymoon and they went out of their way to make it extra special. The chalets are very cute and cosy and comfortable. 10/10.
Very nice stay. Our dogs were simply pampered and everyone is so friendly. Will definitely stay overnight again on the way to the South Coast.
Very neat and comfortable for overnight stay. The staff are very friendly and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast before we hit the road. A bar fridge would be a plus.
Thank you, Pyramida Motel, your service was very friendly and the place was just perfect for one night stay. Would've liked a small fridge and with the heat, you could think about aircon - the water cooler just couldn't handle the heat.
It is a lovely experience to relax there away from the busy N3 and there is a restaurant for your meals. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Very friendly staff, food was very good. The four-bed room is a bit small but well laid out. A bar fridge will be an asset. We will definitely stay there again.
It is the perfect "half way stop" to the sea. It is very nice and clean and the workers go out of their way to help you. Only downside: they sit against the main road so you can hear the cars driving right through the evening.
The cottage is very well furnished, clean and tidy for overnight facilities. Slept wonderfully peacefully, although the wind blew quite a bit as Pyramids is located quite high. The dinner and breakfast were delicious (value for money too) and the staff are very friendly with their customers.
I would like a television in the unit as well as better access to tub/shower since and struggle with stairs and such, it is not very wheelchair friendly.
Very friendly welcome by staff and escorted to the accommodation. The restaurant also offers good value for money. Highly recommended for overnight accommodation.
Very nice, friendly staff, delicious food. Beautiful view, we'll definitely go there again!
Convenient on the road and good food.
We often stay there and have no complaints.
I use the Pyramids every time I go to the coast. The facilities are always clean and comfortable. It's nice when the service is great every year. Will definitely stay again.
The busy road is audible all the time.
Would have preferred that there was a small fridge in place, because you can't keep anything cold.
It is worth eating with them. The food is delicious and worth the money.
Fantastic location and great support.
Bed not very comfortable, but rest of unique accommodation very good.
The service we received at the reception and in the restaurant was exceptional.
Fan was chained in very impractical place and cannot be moved or rotated at all. No microwave or fridge, but supposed to be self-catering units. Air conditioner will be a bonus.
Children and wife could rest well before we took the long way home again.
Very neat unit and very neat place. Will definitely stay there again. Friendly service from all staff.
Unique experience that the children really enjoyed.
We had a great stay, the chalet was clean and tidy. A small fridge would be welcome. Unfortunately, the noise of the traffic on the N3 disturbed us through the night.
Used it as a stopover point and definitely will again, clean, tidy and friendly service. The restaurant has good food at reasonable prices.
Dog friendly which to me and my husband is a major plus. Clean and the staff was very helpful. The menu is fine for ordinary eaters, but I am vegetarian and they don't cater on their menu for vegetarians. My dad ordered fish which was not great. My husband ordered steak which he said was very nice.
We slept wonderfully as a family, all in the Maroccon room.
Rooms are old, bedding and curtains old. Doesn't make a good impression at all.
Will not make use of facility again.
Was ideal stopover travelling from Johannesburg to Durban.
Neat resort, spent the night in a chalet, mattress firm and comfortable, restaurant reasonable and Joseph is a star. Surprisingly little road noise, would stay there again.
We have driven past the Pyramid Motel for years and always wondered what it would be like to stay over. We made it our halfway stop toward Umhlanga. The rooms are clean and tidy. A lot smaller than what we expected. Perfect if you are only looking for a halfway stop. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Shower was broken. Bathroom step isn't safe.
Would like to visit the place, but it needs much attention. Would like to see the rate offer much better value for money.
The motel's chalets are a sauna. The bathroom wall was made of smooth corrugated iron. The fan was attached with a chain so we couldn't move it for some ventilation. And the pictures on the page are very misleading. Paying so much for it is a shame.
I was not happy with the bed and pillows.
Friendly service, delicious food, pleasant reception, lovely view. They were prepared for the power outage. 24 hour surveillance. Would recommend anyone to stay there, really pleasant. Would go again.
We used the Pyramids Motel as an overnight pit stop to the south coast. We didn't check in until after 21:00, but friendly Joseph from reception called us ahead of time just to make sure we were still on our way and also to let us know that their restaurant closes at 20:00. Accordingly, we could better plan for something to eat. The facilities were nice and clean, als worked and our children really liked the 'Space Shower' - and I think we will have to stop there again.
Accommodation and dinner were excellent. The fillet and satay were very tasty. Breakfast was not quite up to the same standard. Will stay here again. Very convenient hub.
The hotel is particularly neat and the guests' needs are taken care of with the utmost care.
Very friendly. Food is delicious.
Lovely accommodation on the mountain with very friendly staff.
In my opinion the best and most affordable stopover between Gauteng and KZN. Would recommend to any traveller coming from North West, Free State or Gauteng on their way to KwaZulu-Natal.
We were pleasantly surprised with the layout of the rooms at Pyramids Motel. It was convenient and we were well looked after before we took the next half of our trip. It was terribly cold but the fireplace in the restaurant made us warm and the delicious food and great service made us feel at home too. The electric blanket kept us cuddly warm at night even though it was ice-cold outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful and received us kindly. We will definitely stay over there again in the future. Good value for money and excellent location.
We were very kindly received by the owner. She explained everything to us nicely and even arranged for warm blankets to be put on us while we ate dinner! Can highly recommend them!
Lovely stopover on the way to KZN - very friendly staff, lovely, warm and clean accommodation and the view over the mountains was fantastic. Will definitely stay again.
Nice and friendly staff, cute accommodation and good food at the restaurant.
Very pretty, neat rooms. Had a lovely stay. Can recommend it to any travellers.
Perfect to sleep over and explore the area. The bathroom was a challenge with children.
See stars.
We used the Motel as an overnight stop to Durban. We were received by friendly people and the room was clean and tidy. Didn't need anything more.
The rooms were very comfortable and the bed nice and big so that our baby could also sleep comfortably between us.
Staff het oortyd gewerk om restaurant vir ons oop te hou nadat ons 4 ure in padongeluk vasgesit het. Sal altyd daar oorbly en vir almal aanbeveel. Fantasiese diens en sorg.
Ate deliciously and slept deliciously. The next day I was fresh and rested and could continue my journey with joy.
The rooms are beautifully clean, cozy and larger than expected. The staff are particularly nice and because the rooms don't have fridges, they stored products I bought on the way in their freezer for me. Despite the main road passing right by the site, it is peaceful and there is a wonderful view of the mountains.
Very pleasant place to stop over on the way to the coast. Clean and tidy, slightly warm but comfortable and spacious.
The stars tell the story.
The restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Good and flavorful food.
Will definitely go there again. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate our requests. Everything was clean and tidy. We forgot stuff there and we were immediately contacted about it.
It's my second time in 4 years that I find myself again in the Pyramids, full of emotion and memories. The dinner was also value for money and just relaxing and calming.
Pyramids Motel is a gem that we really should have discovered earlier. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The units have everything needed for a comfortable stay and are clean and tidy. The main building is beautifully equipped with comfortable sofas and tables for a nice visit and the restaurant's food is delicious. The security guard made his rounds all night to make sure the cars and guests remained safe. I recommend Pyramids Motel with great confidence.
Would recommend for an overnight stay.
Definitely the best place to sleep over for a long trip. The view is so beautiful.
I have a positive impression of the Motel for a one night stop. Suggestion for small improvements: Spray insecticide ahead of time. We killed 2 cockroaches, but this is unavoidable because they just fly in. More clothes hooks in the bathroom.
Perfect overnight stop, with friendly staff. Facilities are clean and tidy. The restaurant's food is delicious and the staff welcomed us kindly and made us feel at home. Would recommend and definitely stay there again!
Was lovely to be kindly received. And everything was clean and tidy.
Thank you to everyone at the Pyramids Motel. It was lovely and the food at the restaurant was fantastic.
Very nice with the best view and really very friendly staff. The rooms aren't something I'm used to, but I will definitely spend the night there again.
Affordable, clean, comfortable and practical.
Had a great stay there. It's very clean and tidy and everyone is friendly. Breakfast prices were excessive. Would still recommend the place to anyone. Good overnight stay with a beautiful view.
Was good. Rooms were clean. Staff very friendly and helpful.
The place is very well situated with a spectacular view down the valley with a farm dam in the distance. It is also not too far from the main route and therefore easily accessible.
Room was neat and just what one needs for an overnight stay!
Warm welcome, clean, great stay.
The whole process of booking and booking the accommodation was smooth. Staff at Pyramids are very friendly and helpful. Units are neat and clean with sufficient hot water.
Beautiful area and very good value for money for overnight stay. The staff is very friendly and the units are very neat and tidy.
See star-rating.
We enjoyed the stay very much. The traffic was very busy, especially the countless heavy vehicles. Furthermore, the entire N3 from Warden is now a 100km/h zone. Therefore, Pyramids is ideally located, and we were able to rest well.
Very good service. Excellent for overnight accommodation only. The chalets' bathrooms are not comfortable.
The location was perfect. The unit neat, just a bit dusty. The staff friendly and helpful.
Beds not up to standard.
See stars.
Neat accommodation.
The chalets are dark and humid. For R150 extra you can stay in one of the room that also has DStv and 250MB WiFi, that is not available at the chalets.
It's right next to the highway and has the most beautiful view. Nice food too. Will definitely go back.
Good location for an overnight stay between JHB and Durban. Clean tidy and basic accommodation.
The price is reasonable if you are looking for cheap overnight accommodation, but advise to pay a little more for comfort instead. The houses are very small and cold in winter. The bathrooms are too small and also cold. The gas in our unit ran out during the first person's shower and then the whole room reeked of gas.
Only one problem for older people, the shower facilities with the fiberglass bath which was very slippery. My mother couldn't take a shower for that reason.
The ad sold a little more than the reality, but it's definitely a good choice for a quick overnight getaway. Also, the ad said that it was self-catering and we arrived with meat and things that needed to be in the fridge. They accommodated us by opening their personal refrigerator for our use. We feel that the idea of the place is very cute, but would be more ideal if it was a little bit further from the highway. Furthermore, we are very happy.
100% the right accommodation to spend the night on the way to the South Coast.
Good overnight place at a reasonable price. Good food at the restaurant and friendly staff.
See stars.
Good restaurant and very friendly staff, rooms a little cramped especially if you are tall, but okay for a stop over.
For a quick stay, the price was acceptable and the facilities very neat.
The service was good and the staff friendly. The food in the restaurant was good. However, the bathroom of the unit was a problem. If you are longer than four feet, you can not use the toilet or the sink, the roof is too low.
See stars.
It would be good if there is a microwave oven in the Chalets, to quickly heat something up. Will stay overnight again.
Friendly service. Room was neat, but very hot and very stuffy. Bedding old. Feel free to make it a bit newer. Bed very uncomfortable. Will not stay here again unfortunately.
Will stay there again, also costs a lot.
Unfortunately, the busy N3 motorway does not contribute to a peaceful night's rest. The trucks driving through the night are disturbing. The gardens of the facility are not maintained.
Unpleasant smell in a room that should have been the best. Aircon noisy and freezing cold. Disappointed.
Service was good, food was good and we always felt safe. Perfect overnight destination.
Friendly welcome, neat room. Delicious food. View fantastic.
We had a really nice stay. Pyramids Motel's room was clean and tidy. Safe playground for children. People were friendly. They have a small restaurant and bar where we could eat and drink after our long day on the road. Next morning we had a nice breakfast at the restaurant with nice filter coffee. People were friendly and really enjoyed it! Will definitely recommend it to others.
Very satisfied with service, and cleanliness and would recommend it to other people and would book it again myself.
It was good value for money with excellent hospitality.
It was a lovely evening and the restaurant was fantastic!
Very quiet and tidy place.
It's a beautiful place. It's a pity that you just drive past it. If it wasn't for a friend who mentioned you I would never have known. The service was perfect would stay there again anytime.
Lovely to be able to sit outside while there are only mountains and fields around you. Had a nice dinner and slept well. Ideal place to sleep on the way to Durban or Wildekus.
Great hospitality, neat houses with nice warm blankets for cold winter evenings. Delicious meals available and the area is so quiet. Top-notch, always.
The owner takes good care of the place as everything is so neat and beautiful. The staff are friendly and helpful.
It is already the fourth time I have stayed there and every time I experience the same hospitality and friendly service. The facilities are in excellent condition and people staying here will certainly not be disappointed.
Friendly, helpful staff. Delicious breakfast. Breathtaking views and beautiful gardens. Very comfortable, clean, spacious rooms and chalets. Decor is top notch. We truly experienced an Egyptian feeling. Especially enjoyed the "self catering unit".
The lady at reception was very professional, friendly and helpful. She met all our needs. The room was clean and tidy.
Very neat, value for money and pleasant and hospitable staff, can recommend it.
We travelled from the Northern Cape to Natal. Pyramids was an ideal place to stop and overnight, especially since we travelled with small kids. The lady at reception was very friendly and helpful. We had to leave early the next morning and she gave use the code for the gate. The room was very clean and neat and we spent a very peaceful night there.
Will stay there again if we're in the area.
Nice place to sleep halfway between Gauteng and Durban.
Accommodation lovely. Food was delicious and atmosphere. Will definitely visit Pyramids again.
Very neat and comfortable.
We only slept over for one night. Dinner and breakfast was a bit good. The lady at reception who looked after us during our stay was also a bit good friendly. Was a pleasant experience.
We were satisfied with the service, all of the staff really friendly and helpful. View absolutely fantastic. Just very cold weather, but the warm blanket on the bed made up for the cold, wet weather. The motel is perfectly located in the Van Reenens Pass which makes it convenient for families with young children en route to the ocean or back home. Would definitely make use of this motel again.
Unbelievable service. Units in the process of upgrading which should be a major improvement. Service is personal and effective.
Convenient stopover on the way Durban from Gauteng.
Excellent hospitality and friendly management and staff. Dinners were delicious!
The room was neat and clean. Everything we needed was there. The restaurant's food was very nice. The rooms have a unique architectural style. The view is beautiful. Would recommend for an overnight stay.
Nice clean. Friendly staff. Maybe they can just improve their menu. Not much of a choice and fish overcooked. However, management did not recover the fish dish from us.
Thank you for a lovely overnight stay on our way home after the holiday.
Lovely, friendly, peaceful and deserves 5 stars!
It was very peaceful and worth it.
Very nice units, just very awkward to stand in a question mark position when going to the toilet for guys who are quite on the tall side.
We had a pleasant overnight stop in the unique 'pyramid'.
En route to the coast, this was not a bad stopover, and the price is good.
Good service. Value for money. Satisfied with food in hotel.
It was good, but there could be more on offer for small children.
For a quick get over it is sufficient. Neat units and even a bar and restaurant.
Will definitely stay there again.
See the ratings.
I asked for a room with a bath and the bed was too hard, I slept very badly. The breakfast with my reservation was R40 and when I got breakfast it was R60. I was still eating when the bread etc. has been removed.
The food we ordered in the Alle Carte Restuarant was tasteless, and instead looked and tasted like roadside cafe food. The pepper sauce comes from a packet and was prepared in a microwave oven - the chicken schnitzel from a frozen box and R170 for 2 people. The hotel's location is comfortable, room was tidy, TV's remote control didn't work, batteries were flat, also the standing fan in the room's remote control was faulty. There was also no fridge in the room and no proper air conditioning.
Friendly and helpful service. Unfortunately very close to N3. Sufficient for stopping, sleeping over and driving.
If you drive so far and get there and there's not even a fridge to keep things cool, it is a tradgedy. The bathroom area is very bad with regards to the water usage with the taps. The bath and the entire bath area is bad, I can not stand up straight and wash my face at the basin, also the toilet, because the ceiling is very low. The grass looks unkempt and the reception area outside is bad, meaning the lawns and the garden is very neglected. The pics were very misleading and we were very disappointed. In short: It was bad and will definitely not recommend it. Felt like a waste of money.
It's beautifully located but a little more attention to the property would be a great improvement and would make it enjoyable to escape the hot unit and sit in nature and enjoy it. One of the plugs did not work and the fan was more disturbing than making the room cool.
Everything was nice and right. Let someone know it's my Honeymoon for checking in. They didn't get anything right because they were trying to get hold of me all day, little knowing I was getting married. All I would think is that they would not have charged for everything as exemplified by lighting a candle in the room (R15 charged per candle) but overall was nice.
They could consider adding a bar fridge and some extra blankets in the cupboard.
See stars.
If you travel far with small kids, you have to stop halfway. Even a rooster crowing!
Would recommend them anytime. Their Sunday night food was off the books. Staff are incredibly friendly and very helpful.
I thought that the trucks on the highway were going to be too loud, but I didn't find them distracting at all, and we all slept well. The food at the restaurant was delicious and we enjoyed watching the rugby on the big screen. For the price we paid, we were very happy to be there and will definitely stop over again!
The service was friendly and professional. Food was nice. Facilities was neat and clean. Electric blankets on the beds were lovely. They could maybe have added extra blankets to the rooms.
We arrived later than planned, but management and the restaurant staff went out of their way to make us feel at home and we were able to relax and enjoy a delicious meal.
See the stars.
Feel free to see the stars.
Deliciously relaxing. Food very tasty and affordable.
See the stars.
Staff very helpful.
The friendliness and hospitality of the staff were excellent. We had great meals in the evening and a great time. The food was divine and the breakfast with coffee was just the right kick start to be on our way to Durban. Will definitely visit Pyramids Motel again!
The reception at about 17:00 was very friendly and helpful. Dinner was well-prepared and delicious. The accommodation was clean and neat. Lovely view during the day.
Everything was easy, from LekkeSlaap's excellent service and effective communication to Pyramids Motel's reach for the stars chalets. It was clean, the staff was professional, very friendly and the safety was excellent. We wanted to braai and they supplied a grid and necessary amenities in no time. What a pleasure starting our holiday like this. We'll do it again!
We appreciated it.
Good value for money - clean and tidy! Breakfast a bit neglected at R60 - otherwise the experience was unbeatable!
Simple but very neat. Staff very friendly Comfy overnight accommodation.
Units are basic but clean. For the price range this is all a traveller expects. Nice little restaurant with good food. Exterior of chalets could use a bit of tlc.
The place is ideal for an overnight stay of one or two nights to explore the area. The restaurant's food is delicious, so no self-catering is needed. Even my little one had fun and a good time. The blankets and electric blankets is a bonus in the cold winter!
Very cute location. Clean and tidy. Could do with small fridge in self catering unit.
Convenient room in a motel. Spacious, neat and comfortable. The only thing that lacked was a bar fridge to keep foodstuffs cold.
The service was prompt and friendly. The surroundings were very beautiful after some rain a few days before our arrival during a severe drought. The restaurant experience was very pleasant and deserves a compliment.
It was a half way stop for us and we were very pleased with the service and facilities. Would stay there again anytime.
See stars.
Nice environment. Difficult shower.
The whole experience was great: from the booking to the message to remind, a day before the booking, to the reception. The meal in the restaurant is recommended. The view over the valley is breathtaking.
It was nice to be able to drink coffee on the porch in the morning and watch the sunrise.
We enjoyed the stay. They offer friendly service and the food was good and all perfectly good for the cost. The room was very hot, but the mountain breeze helped cool it down. Place was neat.
Accommodation with potential, but unfortunately the management of the motel is not up to standard. Chalet 6 has some lice or fleas in the beds. All night's scrambling had a bad experience. The dinner was not special either! Staff very friendly though.
Friendly management and staff and helpful. The chalets could use some attention in terms of cleanliness. A very cute place, especially if you renovate the chalets a little more. Motel itself is neat and the meal in the restaurant was nice.
Given road safety, the Pyramids are the right place to rest and relax. Will definitely spend the night there again and also recommend it to our children.
Friendly staff, delicious food. Room just a bit full of small bugs.
What bothered us about the place is that there is no fan (was very hot) and the roof keeps cracking. The reception was friendly.
Ideal spot for overnight travelers. The houses were very clean and tidy. However, we request that the bathroom window be "sandblasted" because we had no privacy when bathing. The restaurant's food was fresh. Their coffee was deliciously freshly ground and it had a lovely aroma.
It was a wonderful overnight stay. When it got a little late in the evening, they called us to ask if they should keep the kitchen open for us - that's great! You don't get a lot of customer service like that in Pretoria. Thank you very much for the warm welcome, and the facilities are excellent. We will definitely be using Pyramids again in the future! Excellent stay! Thank you very much for allowing us to have such a nice, peaceful night's rest.
Excellent and great service.
Clean, safe and centrally located!
Friendly, helpful staff and delicious food.
Beautiful, clean, safe, quiet, cozy and the service excellent.
We stayed there for a few days to see surrounding tourist attractions. The people are very friendly and helpful.
We also slept there 30 years ago - then known as St Andrews motel. It was also very nice then, but our experience now at the Pyramids was 100 x better! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The view is amazing and the motel is excellent. Had a good time, ate well and slept well! Will definitely go again - can't wait!
We stayed at St Andrews Motel on our honeymoon 30 years ago. It was a very pleasant experience then. We then decided to do it again at the Pyramids. It was incredibly fun. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is great and the view is amazing! We will definitely do it again.
The self-catering unit is spacious enough for our family of three. The restaurant's meals are very tasty and convenient. However, I would have liked a small fridge in the unit to keep some of my snacks cold for the journey ahead.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was more than we expected as a family. We will spend the night there again.
Definitely worth it and affordable -- great staff -- Andre van der Merwe makes the old place even more welcoming! Excellent, comfortable and affordable -- Luxor room is very neat.
Neat accommodation and service is good. Food was very nice. The chalets can be equipped with tea and coffee making facilities. Air conditioning or ceiling fans would be a plus!
We had a wonderful stay. There is only one problem if you drive from JHB at night. There were NO directions or turn off signs to Pyramids. We took a 40km detour and had to call to get proper directions. We also brought this to the attention of the receptionist.
The food in the restaurant is delicious and very well priced. The service was five star.
Thank you very much for the peaceful atmosphere in which we could relax. The staff were all very friendly and helpful which made us feel very much at home. Perhaps a little more options could be considered for the menu, but what was already served was delicious. A table and chairs on the cottages' "sidewalk" will be much appreciated the next time we stay there. We would love to sit there and admire the scenery.
Very good, but rondavels' bathroom is cramped and the roof is too low.
Excellent for overnight accommodation, but not for vacation. The trucks' noise on the road is sometimes annoying.
A beautiful view with good service and food. A peaceful and clean place to take a break after a long day of travelling; good to get away from the city life.
A pleasant surprise with cute, clean and tidy chalets and good food at affordable prices.
Ideally located for a stopover, but not for a longer period. Their staff is very friendly.
Please see the stars.
Staff were very helpful and the place very clean and tidy!
Indication of accommodation units' numbers and outside lighting will be of great help. Clean and tidy.
The service was excellent and accommodation was clean and tidy.
See the stars.
Comfortable and ideal overnight stay!
Nice and clean location and overlooking the montains. It is great.
On the way to Johannesburg it is the ideal place to stay on a Friday. A request: place loose chairs in the house to be able to sit outside because the place gets hot in the afternoon. Thanks to the driver who delivered us two camping chairs so we could sit outside and watch the constant movement of traffic in the pass. The restaurant was neat and the service brisk. Many thanks to all the friendly staff.
Had a good night's rest, just very cold.
Nice view!
Cute stay. It was neat and clean, but the restaurant is just EXCESSIVELY expensive.
There are no kitchen facilities, but there is a restaurant. For an overnight stay it is perfect.
A good basic motel in a beautiful location, directly on the highway.
We slept right on the road, so it was very noisy during the night. The restaurant's prices are very expensive, so I would suggest they revise the menu a bit. I don't think the restaurant's type of food they offer fits the whole package or their market. Otherwise, it's a good option for a one-night stay.
Good for overnight stay. Would not recommend the place for a longer period of stay. Would like a TV in the room, if you want to watch TV you have to watch it in the reception area bar.
Power in our place did not work on arrival and had to move to another one. I will definitely stay at the resort again.
The accommodation is OK. Not too bad for the cost involved.
Unable to use the bath for our 9 month old grandson as only the shower was working.
Again, the Internet photos must have been taken a long time ago, and one is once again disappointed that it does not look like this. Would definitely only recommend it if people want to spend the night there.
The chalet was very neat and very clean with electric blankets on the beds which was lovely as it was raining and cold. There is no covered parking for cars and if it rains you are soaking wet by the time you are in the chalet. The place is old and not at all like the pictures on the internet.
The room is oddly designed and the bathroom mirror is not by the sink. For a tall man like me, the sink is impractical. What's worse there was no kettle or coffee available in the room. If I wanted it I had to pay R20 extra. Strange when you think the accommodation was R450. I can say that dinner and breakfast were very pleasant.
Stairs make it difficult for older people. Doesn't look very tidy, although everything is clean.
Very friendly staff, but it's time to wash the hangings around the bed. There is a layer of dust on top! Rock hard bed: built base with a thin mattress on top - doesn't work for me. Due to the location I expected the noise from traffic but it was very bad. Stay away if you need quiet to sleep.
The specific chalet we stayed in is comfortable, beautiful and clean. It is mainly suitable for one couple, with or without children. The "open" sleeping area, i.e. one double bed, is not suitable for "strange" couples and/or business persons as it offers no privacy. The bath/toilet/sink area is very cramped, but is acceptable for overnight purposes. Very friendly staff.
It is very well located and you can visit many places for the day.
The staff were very helpful and did everything to make us feel at home. I found the place very neat and very clean, and it is always nice to spend the night there. I also spend the night there when I go to Comrades, and the big reason is the beautiful scenery.
Safe, tidy, and with friendly staff! This is a great place!
Our 2 night stay was perfect! The meals we had were tasty and the staff were very friendly.
Definitely worth it!
Got there, everyone was very neatly dressed and very helpful.
Clean, tidy and rooms are warm. Don't even know it's winter.
If you love nature and you are looking for a place where you can spend the night, away from noise, this is the place. When you get there, sit back and enjoy a great meal. I will always remember my time there.
The place is clean and the staff friendly. The food was top notch, one night overnight half way down to the sea, it is DEFINITELY worth it.
Friendly reception and excellent service from Andre and his team. Food was well prepared and tasty. They really went out of their way to give us a chalet where we could park the caravan safely and easily. Bathroom could be upgraded a bit, although everything was very neat and clean and everything in its place.
Very happy with the stay. The staff were very good, the accommodation was fine. The food was good. Really enjoyed the stay!
It may not have all the luxuries from home but makes up in beauty.
One night slept over on the way to South Coast. Service was excellent and would recommend. Good overnight stop to break up a long drive and even nice and nice enough for a weekend getaway.
Very nice value for money in a beautiful setting. Service was very friendly and good. Enjoy a delicious dinner in the restaurant.
Great stay for one night.
It was a very nice experience. My husband and daughter enjoyed it just as much. There isn't much to do, but for a sleepover you can't ask for better.
Friendly service. Neat units. Would definitely recommend it.
Very neat and clean. Would have liked a kettle in the room with coffee/milk/sugar.
The service and the friendliness were very good. Will use it again.
The coffee/tea tray is a lifesaver and definitely value for money. The staff are very nice and the restaurant staff are a great asset. Everything was clean and tidy. A great halfway stop.
Pyramids is affordable value for money overnight accommodation.
Very convenient; nice stay; delicious food.
Place very clean (sorry no music or TV) but the staff are very efficient and look out for the customers. The food is good value for money and plenty to choose from. In general a definite place I will visit again. Keep up the good work to all staff involved!
The meals were very good.
We were only there 1 night, but everything was very neat and clean and the service was efficient.
We will definitely recommend Pyramids Motel to friends and family.
Was the 4th time we spent the night here. Very nice please.
We were very satisfied. The bedrooms are clean, and the service was excellent. It is basic and there are no unnecessary luxuries that one has to shell out for. This is just what one needs after a long journey: a clean bed and silence for a good night's sleep.
A very convenient place.

It was really a pleasure staying at Pyramid Motel. Great location and service. Thanks!
Ansa was very helpful. As we wanted to braai, she provided us with all the necessary stuff. Just a pity there was no bar fridge in unit.
Very nice.
It's a beautiful stop over for rest after a long drive. Just okay though - nothing fancy, but very good. Most staff were very friendly.
A beautiful view of the mountains.
Friendly service and management. Beautiful surroundings.
Food great but portions small. Menu boring for extended stay. TV sound not great. Otherwise, decent stay.
It was certainly very pleasant.
Staff are all lovely and very friendly. Love your chalets. Tea facilities: it would be nicer to have them in each chalet and maybe a fire area for the cold nights. Having it just off N3 maybe a little bit noisy at night for someone wanting a quiet sleep. Other than that I loved everything else!
Recommend this as a one night stop over, which is good value for money.
Beautiful scenery, stunning room.
It was a very windy day that we stayed over and the accommodation was fine.
It was a comfortable and reasonable overnight stay. Friendly staff!
Sufficient if you just want to sleep over for one night. If you want to stay longer - there is not a TV or even a kettle in the room. Only suitable for short periods.

No aircon - please install real air-con, not only fans!
Location: perfect for departing after work and sleeping halfway between Jhb and Durban. The scenery is stunning, mountains, wildlife and all!nService: Friendly, helpful and overall excellent. They bent over backwards to accommodate our specific needs.nValue for money: Very good, especially since they priced it according to the make-up of the party (six travelers) - Thank you!nEverything was clean and well tended. The decor in the rooms showed a lot of attention to detailnRestaurant: The food was tasty and ample and priced very reasonablynThank you for a very pleasant experience.nRiana Crafford
Great for a quiet break or as base for visiting surrounding Drakensberg. Management and staff friendly and went out their way to help us.
We chose the Motel because of its very convenient location. Friendly staff in all respects. Arriving late and leaving very early next morning the receptionist was extremely helpful.
Place was much better than I expected.
