Neat, spacious room with a bathroom and cute kitchen. Was very safe and had a friendly "host"! There were warm blankets, full DSTV, a hairdryer, undercover parking, cappucinos and breakfast biscuits, clean towels and a massive bed. A lot of effort has been put into the place. Great service, clean room and patient staff, just a tip about the stairs, my wife is a bit short so going up the stairs was a bit of a challenge for us, but the caretaker assured us that they were busy with them. The floor is bare cement and cold, the mats are power, it looks like a towel on the floor. The toilet seat is loose. The shower and hot water are good. For R450. 00 there could be more in the kitchen. There was one bottle of water, enough sugar for one and a half cups of coffee, one packet of thin biscuits. As a traveler we don't carry food with us, some milk, some biscuits, maybe some cereal or something just to get on the road to find a place to eat in a strange town.
There's not much to say except that it exceeded all our expectations and more. After 16 days on the road we had seen and experienced everything in terms of accommodation so our expectations were tempered. The room was neat, clean and felt like home. Nothing looks or feels like it was an afterthought and everything was done with care. Definitely deserves 5 stars.

It was our first time in Carolina. The site layout impressed, as did the care of the site. The room was very comfortable and the host and staff very friendly and helpful. Secure parking a peace of mind.

Amazing place & great location.
My wife and I stayed over for a total of two nights at Rand Self-catering on our road trip to and from the Kruger National Park. What a beautiful and peaceful place. There were no barking dogs or noisy neighbours so we had a most wonderful and peaceful night's rest. The room was spotlessly clean and there was safe parking behind a roll-up garage door in a gated property. The room has everything required for a safe catering stop-over. After a hot shower, a super comfortable king-size bed warmed by an electric blanket awaits you. The complimentary breakfast snacks, tea, coffee, bottled water, and chocolates were a nice surprise. We will definitely stay over here again and can, without doubt, recommend Rand Self-catering Accommodation.

Everything was good and in order. John gave us a friendly reception. Everything was in place and what was wonderful is that loadshedding had no negative impact, they are great. Bedding is fresh. It will definitely be our overnight place in the future.

Had the best time at the guest house. It was very quiet, the guy looking at the place did not bother us at all. The place was nice and clean. We are actually planning to come back and have my 33th birthday party there.
I thought we would get a nice view and a braai place in the self-catering unit. Everything else was very pleasant and precious.
The braai needs a roof, because it's not nice in the rain. All you need is a stove or electric plate with a pot and some "steak" knives. The knives that were there can't even cut a lemon. The self-catering facilities need to be upgraded.

We really did enjoy our stay at Rand; it definitely exceeded my expectations. It had everything that we needed and it was well furnished (aesthetics wise). My only issue was that a double bed had to be requested; it would have been nice to have that as one of the rental options.

We were towing a caravan, and were looking for a place to stay the night on our way to the Kruger National Park. The guest house was very accommodating, allowing some people to sleep in the caravan. The room is very spacious and met our needs well.
5 star except for lighting. The one wall is a 'dry' wall, could hear the people next door's conversation, not easy to fall asleep. Otherwise excellent. The chap who welcomed us is excellent at his job!
