"I visited Hoedspruit with my daughter for the first time. On our arrival at Raptors Lodge we were welcomed by friendly staff who took us to our room and ensured that we settled peacefully."

Our stay at Raptors Lodge was amazing. Staff was very friendly as we didn't know the place they made sure that transport was arranged for our local movements. At Raptors Lodge you get what you see in pictures and even more, they had more than enough refreshments kept in our room. I would definitely go back on my next holiday.

This is our second time at Raptor's Lodge. Once again it does not disappoint. This is a lovely stay, and you get exactly what is advertised in the pictures. Especially loved the outside shower!

Unfortunately, the room/porch was not properly cleaned beforehand. They fixed it immediately the next day. The grill's guides were broken so it gets stuck and is difficult to work with and it was not repaired throughout our visit. The grill was dirty when we got there. There was no brush to clean it yourself, and even after the morning they came to remove the ashes, the grill was still very dirty. They fixed it the next day. The kitchen light, living room light and bedside lamp made their repairs on day two. For sure something that could struggle at any time, but all things considered, difficult indeed. Several cutlery were dirty in the cupboards, but were thoroughly washed on day two. There were no scissors in the kitchen, apparently because they are always stolen. They provided us with one throughout our stay. Dustbin inside the house did not have a lid, but on day two they at least provided a brand new, large dustbin. The door to braai area was locked with no key, and initially we were told that door is never used because the guests throw away the keys. The house has 4 other doors that work with a key, and I had to ask for them again after we had to move between the house and braai in the rain. The roof of the braai has leaked water, so while it rains the water runs down the front of the braai and we have to deal with the meat between jets. I didn't expect it was something they could have known in advance and was surprised they were able to fix it the next day. Another roof leak occurred one morning which wet my bed. Again, I understand that it is not possible to foresee something like this. Maintenance was clearly done on the roofs but unfortunately it only had problems. The roof leak was repaired immediately the next morning. The internet was of utmost importance to my work, and stopped working on the last night. Maintenance can be done on cupboards and doors, varnish has worn off over time and appears dirty. Unfortunately not worth the price per person per night.

Issues with the accommodation: 1. The outdoor chairs have not been cleaned. 2. The door from the kitchen to the braai area was nonfunctioning. 3. The cold water tap in the main bedroom has almost no pressure. 4. There is a loose tile in the main bedroom as exiting to the shower. 5. The universal remote for the aircon does not work and there's no proper instruction manual on how to use it. 6. Braai platform is almost completely burnt through.

It was not 100% private as advertised. Although Raptors tried to resolve our complaints it was noisy all week due to builders in the unit next to ours.

Once again, Hoedspruit did not let us down! Great accommodation - you can't get cleaner! Pure white towels and bed linen! It's the first time we can touch a mosquito net and it's spotless! We had a request for an extra mattress in the room and were surprised to see that sheets, blankets and a duvet had been purchased brand new. The kitchen is just big enough and equipped with everything - and clean! We will return for sure.

The location is near major attractions at a reasonable rate appealing. Jessica the Hippo is a must see. The rooms is well spaced and clean, self catering and kitchen full equip, the outside view is bushveld, so relaxing and calming. I would definitely recommend Raptors Lodge, you won't regret once you stayed there.

The pool is heavenly on hot days! The braai is covered which is perfect when it rains. The outdoor shower is a winner and the large bed with a mosquito net and air conditioner was lovely. We will definitely go back again. Very comfortable with everything needed and even DStv.

Very nice, clean and safe. But houses are too close to each other, some are only 5 meters from the others. And showers are very nice, but you can see into the shower from the road.

Is a very nice place. People friendly. Unfortunately, people who were across from us had an incredible party and noise on Friday and Saturday. Was all that was really bad. On Friday we were in a place that had no water. Was quite a problem, because we already unpacked and then we had to pack again to go to another house. And then had to struggle in the dark to find another house, which was actually right next to us. But was not so passed on. But otherwise lovely place.

We had a wonderful weekend, the house was beautifully clean with everything you need. Also cool with the high thatched roof, fans and air conditioning in the bedrooms. Outdoor showers are delicious. My teenage daughter enjoyed her room so much because it was ours and also had a bath and shower. We enjoyed breakfast on the veranda and the pool next door was a welcome treat with the severe heat. I might just suggest washing the 2 lounge and 1 bedroom chair upholstery. Furthermore, it was lovely.

I had the good fortune to spend a week at Raptors Lodge as a getaway from the madness of the city and my expectations were not only met, they really were exceeded! The lodge has everything you need, truly a home away from home, very well equipped and beautifully furnished. The surroundings not only beautiful, the peace and quiet is truly awesome. I had a wonderful week, would highly recommend Raptors Lodge, and I will most definitely be back! Guaranteed.

The house was very beautiful and neat and it has everything you need for a couple of night's stay. Our house was between two roads, but it was very peaceful.

Communication from Raptors Lodge was excellent. The unit was stylishly appointed and the four-poster bed with draped netting gave it a romantic feel. Coffee, tea and rusks are supplied to welcome you after a long day's travel. The outside shower would be lovely on a hot summer's evening, but in mid-winter we settled for the huge bath. The grounds are well maintained and secure, except from cheeky monkeys. Unfortunately very little other wildlife to be seen. The main swimming pool is quite small so would be a problem in the summer heat. Negatives would be the same as with many self-catering accommodation, knives are blunt, crockery is miss-matched and no matches supplied for the braai fire. Access to the Kruger Park is at Orpen gate, a mere 70 km from Hoedspruit.

It is a beautiful, modern chalet and we enjoyed our stay despite a few inconvenient items. The master bedroom has no bedside lamp and no rugs before the bed. The children's room outside on the veranda is a bit impractical, because you can't hear or need your person at night. And I didn't want to lock our grandson in his room, so he had to sleep on the couch in the living room. We were not very happy with the bathroom (and toilet) that is in the room. The bathtub is very inconvenient, you can't get to the taps, you have to get into the bathtub to open the taps. The outside shower is nice now, but your feet are dirty again by the time you go in ─ impractical. The wardrobe is so dark, you can't see it in the day or evening. There was no grating in the kitchen and no bowls to eat cereal, yogurt or pudding. Fortunately, the nice place makes up for the inconvenience.

Very neat and clean. According to the photos and description there is a swimming pool at the lodge. This is not the case. The swimming pool is around 150 m from the house. On a warm day you share the swimming pool with the rest of the resort. The swimming pool then is too small for everyone.

Not sure with regards to any other good sites in Hoedspruit as we have been to some camps but will have to do some research on places to see and to go to. The Blyderiver Canyon was amazing, specifically the boat trip, even though we had to stand, as the boat captain could not arrange and organise other people not to use the spare seats as storage for their bag and luggage!

Well equipped unit for 4 people. In the bush, yet only a stone's throw from the shops. Just an hour's drive to the Kruger Park for a day visit. Would definitely stay here again.

Something I just noticed that you can keep in mind for future guests is maybe matches if someone forgets them and also coffee mugs there were only 3 available and we were 4 guests so you have to wash them all the time. Other than that it was excellent. Enjoyed the nature very much.

Pretty place in the bushveld, clean and tidy. We stayed in Unit 3. The guests in Unit 18 gave us sleepless nights! On Friday evening we heard them but it wasn't too bad. Saturday morning the people already had beers in their hands when they walked past our unit. On Saturday evening there was loud music, shouting, singing and a lot of noise. I had to phone the 24 hour office and after half an hour a vehicle showed up to quiet the people down. This was 01:00 in die morning, but they probably only stopped after 03:00. I looked forward to a peaceful weekend in the bushveld, but had a better night's rest at my own house.

Beautiful accommodation and well equipped. Houses inside urgently need a good cleaning, large cobwebs cover the thatched roof, washing machine works but is dirty. The door to the outside shower's handle is loose! With a little effort it can be fixed quickly!

Upon arrival, I struggled to find the office. There were no names on buildings. But nevertheless, it was also our first visit. The lodge is very peaceful and it gave us the feeling of being in the bush. Had a hard time with the hot days and felt there should be air conditioning in every room. Only had one air conditioning in one bedroom. Furthermore, the place was very clean and tidy - inside and out. I had an extra request before arrival and it was done without any problems - thank you very much. Will definitely go again for a getaway.

Although the accommodation was very clean and tidy, there was no swimming pool as advertised on the page. I would recommend that people booking at Raptors make sure they are checking in first, as there are 2 premises, one of which is not at all as advertised. Guests are received by the "anti poaching" guards, who were not very welcoming at all.

The unit was not cleaned before we entered. Dead bugs and piles of sand on floors and windowsills and empty shampoo bottles in the shower. No hot water in kitchen.

Was very impressed with the accommodation and location. Definitely will go there again. The unit was spacious and comfortable and absolutely private. We had an occasional visit from one or two animals which we welcomed. Only one downside was that the open-plan bathroom/bedroom was not practical.

We enjoyed our stay at Unit 5. The chalet was clean and functional apart from the TV reception which was irregular. However the peace and tranquility of the environment makes it an ideal get away for stressed city dwellers.
