Traveling north of Durban through the lush sugar plantations of the Zululand coastal belt it is a one and a half hour trip to Empangeni, the gateway to the world renowned wild life reserves of Hluhluwe and Umfolozi, the parks responsible for the reestablishment of the once threatened rhino. These two “BIG FIVE’ parks and the ‘World Heritage Site†of St Lucia are only one hour from our luxurious yet inexpensive doorstep.
The shade and cool of the garden is offset by the rich glow of natural wood in the interior. The dining-room, lounge and bar all have separate identities and although the décor is exquisite they are all rooms to relax and unwind in.
All seven bedrooms have there own unique style and feel. They are extremely comfortable and up market. All have their own entrance off the garden and pool area, with remote air conditioning and DStv.
Dinners are to be requested at the time of booking with any dietary requirements mentioned then. There are, with the laws as they are, designated areas for smoking. No pets are allowed but you may enjoy ours while you stay.

The room at Raptor's Rest Bed and Breakfast was very well appointed and comfortable. The host was very helpful and accommodating.
Initial impression was of a sombre dark house. I did hesitate initially to stay there. . If it were my place I would paint the inside walls (currently various dark coloured ) of the entire house in a white paint to brighten it up and replace all lights with cold white low voltage globes. Cut back all over grown trees and shrubs. This is a lovely place with all the attributes for an excellent guesthouse.
Very pleasant owner/manager, with delicious breakfast every day. Very convenient for those who work at Tronox's CPC.
I would stay here again.
If you have to stay in the Richards Bay/Empangeni area there is only one choice.
From the booking of the accommodation to to arriving at the physical place and the stay over and breakfast, to departure every step was effortless and no surprises were encountered. The whole experience was world class. Thank you.
