We had a great time. The mountain hut was very comfortable with everything one needs. The giant fireplace in the living room was a winner and the WiFi and TV with DSTV a pleasant surprise. The hot tub was lovely, one could sit there for hours listening to the silence and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The service was excellent and when we didn't have hot water someone sorted out the problem very quickly. It is a very special place, we will definitely visit again!
The tub on the porch was the central hangout for the weekend!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Ribbok Mountain Cottage! It is peaceful and quiet and has everything that one needs. An absolute must if one desires to get away from the busy city life! We will definitely be back!
Ribbok Mountain Cottage offered huge skies, the Milky Way viewed from a hot tub, stunning mountain vistas, a deep shady veranda, comfy beds and leisurely walks. We saw wild Ribbok grazing and enjoyed being far away from civilisation. We were glad that our car has high ground clearance as the 5.5km road to the cottage is very rocky. A low car would not have made it.
Perfect mountain cottage to escape to, well equipped with everything you could need to relax and enjoy your stay.

It was an incredible weekend, the facilities were adequate and we had a great time relaxing and enjoying the scenery. The destination requires a bit of planning and preparing for the trip will ensure that you have an unforgettable time there.

We had a very nice stay, because the surroundings of the stone house as well as the 5 km road to it run through an unspoilt wildflower paradise. Mid-October was also the right time to find various native orchids that hide in the damp shadows between and under the rhinoceros bushes. It would be good if visitors could be made aware that there is a considerable step down to the master bedroom which one does not notice in the half-twilight when you first enter, especially older people who can be badly hurt when they fall. Matches for the gas stove would be nice too.
Once again it was a fantastic weekend! Everything was just right, really a magical place.
The peace and quiet gave us a chance to relax wonderfully.
We often look for a little getaway and always try to find the little treasures. And oh my becoming! What was and is an absolute treasure Ribbok Mountain Cottage. We are definitely going to make this a regular institution. Can't wait for our next stay there. The advertisement and photos do not justify what you yourself experience. Great time as a family. The cottage offers everything needed and is even equipped for winter's cold evenings. The bonus is the delicious fire hot tub. Sit under the stars in the cold for hours in the bath. Also beautiful hiking trail in the mountain. Thank you for your hospitality!
I had a nice stay.
We knew it was going to be cold and actually wished for snow! However, the absence of snow gave us the chance to go for a walk and experience a rare moment and see a Cape Elephant shrew and even get a photo. It also allowed us to take the 4x4 route into the mountain and see breathtakingly large protea and pincushion trees, the likes of which I have never seen in my life. We were treated to a flock of ribbucks, Malachite sunbirds, Orange-breasted Sugarbill, Cape Sugarbird, Pheasants and Partridges. And then a winner was the lovely outdoor steam bath which made the cold not an issue at all until you got out.
Beautiful setting. Lovely place. The kids enjoyed it. I wouldn't recommend going up in a low car. We had a double cab and a Fortuner. Was very cold but the inside fire place was amazing.
It was so nice to wake up to the birds singing and the beautiful mountain view. We really enjoyed having meals on the large porch, just enjoying the view. Ending the day relaxing in the hot tub after a long hike was complete bliss. Hope to visit again soon.
My hubby is a bit of a farm boy at heart, so thought the rest of the family would have to grin and bear this getaway for love. What we found however was that this cottage had an amenity that every member of my family could appreciate. From the hot tub to the Netflix/WiFi, to the hiking trail that starts just outside the door. Loved, loved, loved it and hope to make it back there again soon and more regularly.
What a pleasant cottage it is! Hidden in the mountains, away from civilization, with the local fauna as your only neighbors. A large porch greets you as you complete the 5.5 km off-road trail off the main road. Equipped with only the essentials and a nice hot tub, outdoor and indoor barbecue make the houses top class in our books and we hope to come back and recharge there soon.

Can get cold so I suggest they get the gas heater checked out as it was not working. Also, the woodfire tub is amazing and the inside fire is as well. They provide 2 bags of wood per day which is nice wood, but I think an option to order more would be helpful. The road to the cottage is a bit rough so not something you want to do daily and so extra wood onsite would mean no need to travel. The host was amazing and super helpful! loved this little gem of a place!
The tranquility and breathtaking view from the veranda makes you feel like you are on another planet, the house is simply equipped but has everything you need, the "hot tub" which is heated with wood was an experience, it was lovely to sit in it and look out over the mountains. 4x4. The 4x4 route was challenging, 4x4 low-range all the way and I even needed to use difflock in 2 places to get over the rocks, when you get to the top of the mountain you are rewarded with the most beautiful view of Ceres and the farms, the tranquility up there is indescribable and an experience you just have to try for yourself. Evenings in the stone house. The houses are equipped with a braai that will steal any Dad's heart, it was lovely to sit in front of a warm fireplace and chat and play board games. I would definitely recommend this place.
What a gem of a place! The stand-alone unit with the nice living porch and wonderful view of the mountains is just the place to charge your batteries. The lovely spa pool was a feast for the grandchildren - and the adults. Will definitely go again, especially when it snows!
A quiet, peaceful getaway for a family. Very tidy with all the accessories you may need. The large porch outside is perfect and offers lovely views as far as the eye can see. The hot tub is a nice pastime for young and old and especially if you want to cool off (or get warm). The place should be visited by more people. It's nice and affordable - we hope it stays that way.
