On the farm, guests have access to Green Flag hiking trails.
The farming and settlement potential of the area along the banks of the Mooi River was enough to convince Andries Potgieter to settle here with his "trekkers" in 1838. The new town was the subject of the Sand River Convention allowing the area north of the Vaal River to become an independent republic, thus making it the Transvaal's oldest Voortrekker town.

28 guests' feedbackI want to say a big thank you to uncle Gert. He is the most considerate and kind person who still cares for his fellow man. His love for Rietpoort and his family is clearly visible in the way he cares to make sure that everything is just perfect. Uncle Gert and Rietpoort stole my heart from the moment we arrived there. The tranquility of the clean nature, the rich history of Rietfontein and the hospitality are certainly the best I have ever experienced. Thank you Oom Gert, you are certainly someone I will not forget and will definitely visit again soon.

This is a gem of the Paris area. The Kliphuis is a beautiful, historic, converted cottage with so much character and detail that takes you back in time. The house is very well equipped and a treat for the eyes. The surroundings of the farm are peaceful and one's soul finds rest here around the campfire in the evening with the starry sky and beautiful stones that surround you. The dog children are so friendly and Gert made us feel more than at home and looked after us so kindly. Thank you very much for sharing this treasure with us.

My fourth visit at Rietpoort cottage, the stay was peaceful as always, the cottage was very clean and tidy, can recommend it to anyone looking for tranquility and a farm atmosphere. Thank you Gert, definitely come and visit again.
The accommodation is very clean, tidy and comfortable. The decor is extremely interesting and around every corner there is something that catches your attention. The bath and shower are especially very cute. The people have made a lot of effort and everything you need is there.
My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at Rietpoort. The farm is near Parys, but in the end we just enjoyed the tranquility of a cow or two walking past us and lazed around listening to the birds singing in the trees. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. We were delighted.
My wife and I's third visit to Rietpoort, everything was neat and clean, very peaceful on the farm. Would visit again in 2017. Would recommend this place to us with our busy lives. Thank you very much Gert!
Perfect place for a weekend rest.
Was my second ride there, the toilet was not very clean and the soap in the bathroom was missing. In the kitchen, the toaster was dirty and some of the cutlery was dusty. Other than that, everything was very nice.
Pleasant people, peaceful surroundings, beautiful houses, away from the city! Very cute!
Spacious cottage, neat and clean, an amazing collection of antiques. All the requirements for self catering. Well situated within the farmyard and at the foot of surrounding hills. Well laid out hiking trails and marked trees for the tree enthusiast. If you want to chill out, this is it.
We had an incredibly nice weekend with beautiful and tidy accommodation on a really beautiful farm. The owner was very friendly and we walked to our heart's content and had a great time!

We had a great time in the beautiful stone house with its beautiful decorations. The peaceful farm atmosphere was just what we needed after the hectic city life. The Prinsloo's are pleasant and caring hosts.
Affordable, beautiful home inside and out and has everything you need. My wife and I will definitely book there again. Nice to experience silence.
