Rio Vista is so well located especially if you are on your way to the Kruger National Park. We arrived with a caravan and there was enough space to store the caravan. The gardens are very neat and the view over the river to the KNP is beautiful. What does bother me is that there are no emergency lights in the rooms or hallways that turn on during load shedding. I think Rio Vista should definitely look into making it more comfortable for customers. It's quite dark to walk from the restaurant to one's room. The rooms were very clean, but the porch was not properly cleaned and swept.

The lodge's location is good but the interior of the Lodge looks tired and old.
The children's room was basically a closet converted into a room with a single bed against the dirtiest wall. The dining room is not good in cold weather - it can only be closed with tent flaps and the cold wind is not kept out.
Very nice lodge. Their mattresses are just awfully hard. So you don't sleep very well.
Our stay was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. The on-site restaurant serves delicious meals and breakfast. Could see the animals that come to the river, and listen to them.

Great relaxing stay right on the South river border of the Kruger with a rich abundance of wildlife.
Good value for money.
But no channel that shows the rugby. So it was a big disappointment.
Me and my partner stayed at Rio Vista on our way to Kruger Park. Our room was spacious, clean and we had a great view of the Crocodile River and the Kruger National Park. The Deck Restaurant and Bar had tasty food and has the perfect view for a sundowner. The staff is friendly and accommodating, they arranged a take away breakfast to be brought to our room the night as we left early the next morning to Kruger and would miss their breakfast. 5-star accommodation.

A nice peaceful stay before you go into the wildlife park.
The accommodation and restaurant are of good quality with a beautiful view of the Kruger National Park. The service is good and the facilities clean and comfortable.
I will definitely use Rio's services again. Their hospitality and welcome is for sure the reason why I will use them again in the future. The food was truly top notch. The privilege of being able to see nature and wild animals in the wildlife park from the Lodge was also a winner for me.
Had a great time swimming and hanging out here right next to Crocodile River. Delicious food in the deck restaurant, among the wild animals. Lovely stay, piece of Eden in Malelane. Ideal start for a visit to Kruger. Thank you very much, highly recommended. We miss Rio Vista already and will be back again!

Rio Vista Lodge was great to stay at for a overnight rest after a long trip. It has a lovely view from the deck for sundowners and dinner. Nice clean room to accommodate a family of four. The food at dinner and breakfast where both outstanding. We will definitely return again.

Great service - from the first contact until we are out. The location is very nice. The room is beautiful, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Criticism: The dinner menu is pricy and not value for money. Breakfast was nice, but I would have liked a choice between omelette, fried eggs and scrambled eggs, but unfortunately I could get eggs either way as long as they were scrambled and then it was in one big bowl that everyone scooped out. Would I stay there again? For sure.
Great break with a beautiful view of the Crocodile River. Quiet environment. There is also a spa on site if you feel like pampering yourself.

We loved our stay at Rio Vista and especially the breakfast package we received as we left early for the Malelane Kruger Gate the next morning. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the we loved our dinner at The Deck restaurant.
The rooms are beautiful and neat and convenient because there is a restaurant for dinners. Next to the Crocodile River so you sometimes see animals and also close to the Kruger Parks' entrance.
We did enjoy our overnight stay - breakfast on the deck was delicious and the view excellent!

Neat accommodation with a fantastic mattress! Breakfast area very nice with a beautiful view. Breakfast can definitely improve for a 4 star.
Rio Vista was conveniently located 15 min away from Malelane gate, however, the service of the hotel was not very professional. First, the receptionist who booked us for a safari with a third party company decided we are international guests. So we got a crazily expensive rate (double the SA rate), despite the fact that we told him we are SA residents. We got the impression that he was trying to rip us off. Secondly, on Sundays the restaurant of the hotel closes at 14:00, so no dinner can be served to the guests. This is acceptable but it was a long weekend and the hotel was full so they chose to lose all their customers. This is still acceptable but shouldn't they inform us during breakfast and suggest to book us somewhere else? Instead we had only fast food options when we got back as everything was already booked before.

We warmly welcomed after a long day on the road. Neat room. The lodge is on the river and we saw elephant, antelope, buffalo, etc. Dinner was excellent, really delicious. We enjoyed our stay, thanks.
The view of the lawn is very pretty. The unit is cleverly laid out and nice and bright. The linen and towels were fresh but the pillows very hard. Clean, except for a dirty mark on the rug in front of one of the couches. The self-catering part is not really worth 4 stars. There are no plugs in the bathroom, no oven, no wine glasses and no keys to the sliding door. Dinner was tasty and beautifully presented. The waiter was excellent. The people are friendly and helpful. Breakfast: The warm breakfast was acceptable, except for the eggs which were too salty and was served that way. There was also polony (surely a no-no) and brown pineapple slices for the cold part of breakfast. We decided not to have breakfast on the second morning for this reason. These are things that can easily be bettered.

The room was very neat and well maintained. The dinner at the restaurant was delicious with a wonderful visit from some elephants right in front of us. It was definitely a highlight. Thank you very much for a pleasant stay and hospitality.
The view is fantastic! Sitting quietly in the restaurant with a glass of cold white wine while the sun goes down, the elephants come to swim, and the manatees graze peacefully is just so nice!

Rio Vista was exactly what we needed - in the heart of nature, overlooking the Crocodile River. Quiet surroundings, friendly staff and neat rooms. We look forward to going again!
We really enjoyed our stay, the room are spacious, air-conditioned which really helped a lot because Mpumalanga is very hot. I loved the restaurant lappa, as it had a nice view, and was very cool. Just a suggestion on breakfast, a variety will be nice as we were served bacon & eggs on Saturday & Sunday. All in all, nice, quiet, and very friendly staff.
We recommend Rio Vista Lodge for a vacation. There is so much to do. The surroundings are indescribably beautiful and the privilege of watching wildlife from the patio is so special! Delicious meals and a nice pool to cool off in. The game drives are awesome!

Good value for money and friendly team. Nice close to activities... just a shame about the generator running all night; it also destroys the forest atmosphere.
It was very nice and we met interesting guests. The game is also fat and healthy!
The only criticism is that the breakfast buffet was very basic with only a choice of one yoghurt, one cereal and one jam for toast. No other bread, and very little fruit. However, the fried meal offered was good. We loved the place and will definitely be back!
