The lodge is in a peaceful setting in nature, but close to all amenities. Although it was winter, the cabin was toasty hot. The staff are friendly and any problems are addressed immediately. Regular communication was sent before and upon arrival, which was very helpful.

Stayed for three nights at River Rock Lodge and my stay was everything I wanted it to be. A patio, a comfortable and nicely decorated chalet, so comfortable and the peacefulness was superb. Denise is wonderful, she checked in with me but was not intrusive. A truly beautiful spot for my midweek break.
Middle of winter and freezing cold, but beautifully situated by the river. The log cabin was warm and cozy with all the amenities we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make us feel at home. It's a shame we only stayed one night, would have enjoyed staying there for a few days.

We were there and aside during the week. Didn't want to be bothered, nobody bothered us. The steel olive tree decoration above the bed must be drilled in at the bottom, bothersome if you sit up in bed.

We experienced on our first night there that the bed was no longer ready, and also that the pool was dirty. The staff bought a new bed to replace the old one and the pool was also cleaned the same day. Very friendly and helpful staff.

While the accommodation was adequate it lacked any personal touches that would make us want to return. A bottle of drinking water would be a nice gesture, as water in Parys is sketchy. You can see the owners went to expense kitting they place out but it was a bit of an awkward spot. It would be more practical to replace the extra sofa with a small table and chairs, or even a coffee table would be helpful. The bathroom has no space for anything, sink is small so a shelf would help considerably. Over all place felt a bit dusty and not used for a while, understandable after a year like last year! Staff were friendly.

Definitely value for money!
Had a very friendly reception. If you are looking for tranquility this is the place for you. Cottages are very private and have all the amenities for a peaceful getaway.
We went as a group (and booked each separate spot, 3 units in total), as we have small children we thought the units were all together, overlooking the river (this would have made it easier at bedtime fr the children). The Bush Cottage is located at the entrance, well within walking distance of the river (but you don't have a view of the river), although you get the idea that you do look down on the river (if you look at the pictures they posted at the Bush Cottage). The Bush Cottage is very neglected compared to the units that do look out over the river (which do look beautiful), and it needs a lot of renovation (paint cap, shower head was broken and fixed when we made the owner aware of it, satellite TV worked every now and then (note satellite is not DStv), only 2 plates on the stove worked, only enough dish soap was provided for 1 day, the owner was very friendly though and ready to help anytime, would when we come back we will take one of the river front units (as we understood, unfortunately they could only accommodate 2 people).
From our arrival we felt welcome. The place is beautiful. The owners are friendly. We were spoiled with delicious hot muffins on Saturday! I can recommend this place with a good heart.

The Olive Tree wooden cabin was extremely comfortable and in the lovely surrounding of the river, trees, ducks, horses and even the sound of fish eagles. Far enough and yet close enough to the town centre. Above all was the very warm welcome and assistance received from our hosts. Will definitely stay there again on my next visit to Parys.

We were received at the gate by the owner, Denise. Warm, sociable people - felt right at home. We have booked 5 units among our family from grandmothers and grandfathers through to our young family of 5 with children between 2 and 7 years of age. Everything was clean and tidy and the units are fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a weekend getaway. We were able to fish and relax at the lapa, with a beautiful view of the tributary of the Vaal River. We were spoiled with delicious freshly baked muffins until Saturday morning. We really had a wonderful time together as a family here. Only negative point was a sharp, bad smell, near the water's edge. Not sure if it was the hyacinths or a landfill that was nearby.

They really went the extra mile in terms of communication and directions, and it really impressed me. The accommodation was comfortable and good value for money. They did warn us in advance not to drink the water but to bring drinking water (which applies to Parys in general). The river was also affected which in turn meant we didn't really go down to the water.

The house was right on the Vaal River, with a beautiful view and the sound of the running water and a lot of birds, including a Cape sea eagle or 2! The braai areas are big and cosy where you can sit and chat until late. The house is well equipped inside and very stylish.
