Nestled in the beautiful valley of Tonteldoos, Riverman Cabin Country Lodge is the perfect place to exchange traffic for donkeys lazily grazing, rushed lunches for a picnic in nature and city noises for an evening song, sung by crickets and orchestrated by frogs, a surplus of fresh country air and wide-open spaces.

Each one of our 7 cottages and cabins is rustically elegant and decorated in a unique style with cosy indoor fireplaces as well as private external braai areas. They are all fully furnished and equipped for a homely self-catering experience.

Riverman Cabin is an ideal destination for weddings, corporate functions, social engagements, and romantic getaways.

We had such a good stay. It is a bit far out of Dullstroom, but that allowed us to fully unwind and get a proper rest! Our fur baby loved it more than us, with space to run around and dams to cool off a bit.

"Dog-friendly, neatly clean and beautiful scenery!"

We had a fantastic time with the family over the Father's Day long weekend. The owners were incredibly helpful, the scenery and silence were amazing. The lodge was very clean with a well equipped kitchen, the electric blankets on the beds were a great surprise and for sure a good investment for the cold months. It was perhaps a bit far from Dullstroom, but the silence and scenery were worth it. Our dogs and children were no problem for the other visitors and even the neighbours' dog came to stay with us over the weekend (our barbecue meat was probably tastier!).

"Very nice and enjoyable in nature."

We had a very nice stay. The dirt road on the way to sun is difficult and dangerous and very long. No luck fishing. No fishing activity seen. Drains are blocked in the bath and the shower water takes a long time to drain.

Unfortunately the farm is very hard to get to unless one has a 4x4 or a high clearance vehicle. We were warned about the road but never thought it would be as bad as it was.

Had a good time and caught fish. Enjoyed a lot. Very nice visit and relax, owners super friendly. Road to Tonteldoos stony, but from Tonteldoos to Riverman very beautiful. Very nice ponds to catch. We will visit again.

A small unit, but sufficient for a weekend. Quiet environment. Road is a bit bad to get there but is part of the journey. Drive slowly and take about 30 - 45 minutes from Dullstroom.

Traversing the gravel roads to Riverman Cabin and then to Dullstroom was a bit of a challenge even in a high clearance 4x4 vehicle and consequently, we were unable to savour the beautiful views.

Linda and Gary make you feel immediately at home upon arrival. Accommodation is clean and tidy. Riverman Cabin is well located in a wooded area. Also the ponds for catching trout and bass are accessible to people who have difficulty walking. Highly recommended. Thank you very much for the wonderful stay. Will use it again.

We would like to go back again and again, but the access route (which is not the owners fault) to it from Dullstroom is in really bad shape. To say that the road is bad is very relative and when one experiences it first hand even with a normal pickup, you wonder how much damage the sedans sustain during the 1 hour long 22 km dirt road. We would like to refer future visitors because the lovely experience at the accommodation facility but would definitely say that they must have a 4x4. It's a shame that such a wonderful event has been canceled by the local government and municipal issues regarding the road maintenance, be ranked.

The accommodation is practically equipped and very comfortable. The road there is only quite far from Dullstroom because it is also a difficult dirt road. But precisely because of this also safe. If you have a 4x4 vehicle and like a quiet, peaceful environment and are not bothered about luxury accommodation, then this is a great place. Would definitely recommend if you want to get away from the crazy city rush.

The road to Riverman Cabin is very bad but with the right vehicle it is not a problem. There is wifi but only at the restaurant. The advantage is that one can rest really well. The people are very friendly and the few days we were there we rested as if we had been there for 2 weeks. If you have the right vehicle, it's a great option to get away from it all. The cottages are well equipped. There is everything that is needed. There is a gas stove, so if Eskom is a problem, one can still cook! It is a truly wonderful environment.

"Beautiful area, my children and dogs really enjoyed everything there was to do. Cabin was neat and had everything we needed. The dirt road is not great if you do not have a 4x4 type vehicle."

There is a short but beautiful Wattle walk where the dogs and my children were free to roam. They enjoyed the scenery, the donkeys, hot chocolate on the huge rocks behind the cabin and marshmallows at the fireplace on colder evenings. The children had a blast riding their bicycles on the off-road track. We were not affected that much by load shedding, as there was a gas geyser, stove and oven. The dirt road should rather be negotiated with a 4x4 type vehicle.

We and our 3 dachshunds really enjoyed the scenery and rest (Not that my 3 month old puppy likes peace, the old ones do) The service and accommodation and food were top notch. If you want to treat yourself a little, go and enjoy it, even if it's just to rest!

Riverman Cabin gives nature a different meaning, your soul rests with nature's sounds, beauty and then of course the kindness.

"Neat but basically"

Although the unit is very tidy, the view breathtaking and the surroundings peaceful and quiet, we found the equipment of the unit basic. A more modern shower head, hand soap, loose rugs for the cold cement floor and accessories such as a wine opener (borrowed from our neighbor) and a TV oven would add significantly to the value and comfort. Nevertheless, our experience was pleasant.

We were received very kindly and the stay was exactly what we expected. We discovered after 9 the first night that the unit had no hot water. Corrected immediately by the owner and the next morning the water was hot. Christmas dinner was excellent value for money and very pleasant atmosphere. Can recommend Riverman Cabin to someone who just wants to relax and calm down. I will not take the road to the resort with a sedan car, but unfortunately the resort owners cannot do anything about it.

"Very peaceful, beautiful scenery."

It had been very nice and peaceful, no sense of danger or discomfort, Percy the owner and his wife Karin were very hospitable and helpful. We were also spoiled with a boat trip and a lovely day on the dam and enjoyed it immensely. The food in the restaurant was top notch, it was value for money and the location is excellent. The units are far apart so the privacy we wanted was great.

A lovely getaway in a peaceful highveld setting. Our dog was welcomed with open arms, just like us, and the unit, furniture, bedding and crockery was wonderfully clean. A lovely breakfast on the patio of the restaurant with our dog resting by our feet and a view to top it all off! More than enough space to stroll around during the day and the perfect Milky Way at night. We will definitely come again!

Stayed in Brown Cabin. The area is peaceful and relaxing. I would suggest they trim the vegetation around the dam so that one can appreciate the natural beauty more. Some touch ups to the cabin could include fixing the loose floor tiles and the sliding door that slips off its hinges.
