The stay was absolutely amazing, the unit was clean and equipped with everything you need. The host personally checked me in and explained everything.
The chalet by the river has the nicest covered patio with comfortable sofas overlooking the river right outside your door and there is a built-in braai. We enjoyed the tame horses, dogs and wildlife so much and didn't miss television at all! The air is clean and refreshing and the energy on this farm brings a peace to your mind. The owners radiate light and their hospitality is hard to match. We arrived as strangers but left as 'family'. Are you longing for peace, your body feels worn down and maybe you're just not in a good 'place' at the moment? If so, then this is the farm to visit! Healing is within reach.

The chalet feels very neglected and needs some elbow grease and cleaning. The cupboards are full of unnecessary items for a holiday stay. The curtains are not hung properly, and some new linen would make a big difference as the stuff feels and looks really old. The sink needs a good scrub, and old cleaning items like brushes and sponges are just left next to the sink. I did not expect luxury, but I was very disappointed. The location is stunning, and this could be an absolute haven if properly cared for.
Cleanliness: The cottage was full of flies and fully overloaded old fly straps that were hanging like macabre decor. The bathroom/toilet simply needed jik. Location: a very long walk from chalet to river. Should just be 'ridge chalet' not 'river ridge'. Owners' three dogs left piles of smelly poo all over the area. You had to dodge it. Kid couldn't play on grass. And we could not have morning coffee outside because the dog poo reeked. Big dogs x 3 = lots of giant messes. Rooms: room with bunks is dank.
Not only did Riverridge accommodate us on short notice they were friendly, helpful and really accommodating. The hosts made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. The farm has breathtaking views and cosy beds. The host's were so helpful and called us to direct us to the property and even waited for us outside. I definitely recommend staying at Riverridge lifestyle farm. We had a wonderful experience. Tracy.
Our younger children loved it but our teens less so. Simply because they are less fond of farm life. My 10 and 7 year old's just loved spending time with the horses and riding their bikes. The farm itself is steep for riding but they could ride on the road, which was quiet (although they did have to look out for cars). We loved the freedom of being free to walk around the property and use the kayak. Unless you have a boat the river is otherwise quite limited. We stayed at the top cottage but would love the one on the water next time.
