Riverwalk is always a favorite precisely because it is so neat and nicely located. Clarens remains a festival.
Was there 8 years ago too. Then it was new. They will e.g. have to look after the shower. The rest is still fine. There was just no hot water late Saturday night, nor Sunday morning.
The rooms are well-equipped and clean. The staff were very friendly. It's within walking distance of the shops and restaurants, and the scenery around the accommodation is beautiful.

We had a great time at the guest house. The beds were comfortable and the rooms very nice, neat and clean. However, I would not suggest that people who have difficulty walking live there. There is a "shortcut" to the village, but it is only suitable if there are no physical problems whatsoever. We took my mother with us and therefore had to drive to town with a vehicle every time. The road to RiverWalk is also a bit rough, and I would recommend a tall car.

I enjoyed my stay (4 days) and was able to get the rest I needed. The room and the garden were well looked after, and the breakfast was excellent. I have two problems - the general one regarding disabled access - the steps up from the parking were not mentioned, and the set of even longer stairs up to the balcony where reception & the breakfast room were situated, were an issue. The second problem is personal to me - the mattress was rock hard, and I am neither a rock, nor shaped like a plank. I know some people think it is good for their backs. For me, this is a huge issue. Thankfully there were enough cushions & pillows that I could use them to pad things a bit.

The road to the guesthouse is very bad. Coffee in the room was hidden in a cupboard, it was not available. You have to wait 5-10 minutes for hot water.

We were met by Jessica who made us feel very comfortable and even provided another room downstairs to make it easier for us to carry our luggage from the parking area. When no hot water was available the next morning, Jessica immediately made a plan and we were able to have a hot shower in the adjoining room.
After our reservation we arrived at Riverwalk after which they were not aware of our reservation. They did quickly make a plan to send Jessica to help with check-in. We did book an attic room and were put in a different room. Nevertheless, the stay was fantastic.
Please tell people if they have stairs. We were not prepared for 3 flights of stairs. Maybe give them the option. Ground floor or upstairs.

I initially visited RiverWalk Bed and Breakfast for the second time with high expectations, given the fond memories I had from my previous stay. The charming atmosphere and delicious breakfast remained consistent, retaining the charm that drew me back. While the overnight port was still a pleasant experience, I have to admit that the earlier excellence in service and room amenities has dropped slightly. Despite this observation, it remains a beautiful place worth considering for a peaceful stay.
Very nice and well located. The room is large and was clean throughout. Beautiful view. There is only very little storage space. Excellent breakfast, excellent chef. However, the access road is in poor condition. Unfortunately, the parking is not safe at all. The walkway runs through the parking area and there are no safety fences. Safe parking was one of my requirements.
Liked it but sleeping comfortably is important.

I took my two adult sons for a break to Clarens and stayed in the loft rooms with our own sitting room and balcony with a great view. Riverwalk has a great location - close to the shops - you can walk, but far enough that it's quiet and peaceful. The breakfast is always a wonderful experience. This was not my first stay at Riverwalk and hopefully not my last.
A special thanks to our hostess, Jess, for all her effort and kindness - she made us feel right at home.

The door to the bathroom was coming off the hinges so wouldn't close properly and wasn't fixed while we were there. One day the cleaning staff didn't lock our room after finishing in it so our room was unlocked the whole day while we were out. I brought this to the owner's attention.

Every year my husband and I travel to a different place for a few days to just relax and rest, Clarens was on our list this year.
The rooms are standard and lack attention. The light by the full length mirror and the warm blanket on one side don't work and our shower's water didn't get hot enough. There is a vapor mark on the bathroom roof as well. Clarens has cute places to eat and the included breakfast does not make up for the price.
Loadshedding at night lef the place in darkness and no emergency lights outside on te stairs and exterior of building, nor in rooms. Luckily we had a torch or would not have been able to navigate the entry and all the stairs and getting into our room. No Wi-Fi. Fire extinguisher in our room service due 2021.

I wish we could have stayed longer. Other than the B&B being a bit confusing to find (our GPS sent us in the wrong direction), this place is absolutely fabulous and has good value for money. The room is spacious, well furnished and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable so I had a great night's sleep. I loved the spacious bathroom with a huge shower too. The little extras (fresh flowers, glass of sherry, biscuits) made us feel welcome as did the owner, Hannetjie. She really knows the village and the advice she gave was spot on. I would highly recommend Riverwalk and hope to visit it again.

Lovely, peaceful accommodation next to a stream where we could relax, went for a lovely walk and felt like we were in a forest with the beautiful nature around us. Clementines Restaurant's service and food were out of the books and we had a lovely dinner - so can really recommend them.

Shower's hot water faucet and toilet leaked.
Hot water in shower takes very long. We were well informed of this ahead of time that the hot tap has to run for a long time, so expected it, just ironic that there is a sign in the bathroom to save water and take shorter showers. Layout of bathroom not so practical, when you shower, toilet splashes wet. Stairs up to room may be a bit narrow, older people may lose balance easily. We chose to drive early in the morning and not stay for breakfast, RiverWalk may consider adding a takeout as an option for breakfast.
Close to amenities and activities.
I feel the rooms could have back up LED lights for if it is load shedding. We arrived there at half past 6 in the evening, then it was very dark in the rooms due to load shedding. The water was also cold as the gas needs electricity to turn on the geyser. It was raining and we wanted to take a shower to warm up. The night I went to sleep, my feet got cold and there was no extra blanket in the room.
Hot water takes a very long time, but was notified in advance. Shower overflowed as you wait so long for hot water, with no floor towels available. Only 2 cups. Can only drink coffee/tea once. Very dark parking area. No discount if you don't eat breakfast. No WiFi access. Very bad road to access guest house.
Loft rooms not very soundproof. Communal fridge makes things a bit difficult. Specifically booked room with bath but was given room with shower. Conveniently located near everything and breakfast tasty.
Bathroom: No place to put personal things. Although very neat, just very impractical. Bedroom: Coffee facilities tucked under cupboard with kettle on ground inside cupboard. So we didn't make coffee in the room at all. Service: We asked 2 times for a pen in the room as well as ice, needless to say never got either. Furthermore, service was of standard quality!
The host is friendly, helpful and very pleasant - enjoyed the short chats. We will be back.

River Walk exceeded our expectations. Comfort, tidiness, service! Just the cold shower made it less than perfect. There's a notice urging guests to save water, but it took about 5 minutes for the water to warm up which causes unnecessary waste of water.

My wife and I visited Clarens for her birthday. Our expectations were exceeded in every way. We were kindly received by Hannetjie, our room was spotless, tidy and the attention to detail was noticeable in everything. The room was spacious and bathroom very large. Heater in the room and bathroom was already on when we arrived and a warm blanket on the big bed made us sleep very warm during a freezing weekend. The breakfast was incredibly delicious with fresh fruit, yogurt, juice and other delicacies followed by filter coffee and a hot breakfast. It was top notch and honestly tastier than the breakfast we had at one of Clarens' restaurants the previous morning. River Walk is located close enough to town to walk anywhere in Clarens within 5 minutes. We will definitely spend the night at Riverwalk again on our next visit to Clarens. When you tour during winter, you definitely want a warm bed. RiverWalk Bed and Breakfast's rooms are nice and warm, so we didn't even need to switch the electric blanket on. The breakfast included a wide variety and it was delicious.
From the moment we arrived at RiverWalk B&B, throughout our stay, to the end of our (too short!) time there, everything was truly of a high standard and an example of cleanliness and pride in what the bed and breakfast place offers! Hannetjie and Johan really set an example for the entire B&B industry with what and how they do things at the jewel accommodation in Clarens.
Our stay at Riverwalk was very nice and the service was really very good upon our arrival we were spoiled with sherry and every day's biscuits and cookies. Anel's breakfast was very tasty every morning and so carefully prepared. The room was cleaned every day and the towels were also replaced with clean fresh towels. Thank you very much for the wonderful stay and visit to Clarens. What a beautiful village and setting.

We were there for our 6th wedding anniversary. The hostess was kind enough to leave us a bottle of champagne in the room as a gift. Thank you very much for the nice visit and pampering. We had a very nice stay. The Staff were excellent. When we got there, our room only had a shower, but the lady who received us there immediately moved us to another room with a bath. Everything was just the best. The dining hall's preparation in the morning with breakfast was of a very very high standard. In short, it was a wonderful experience to go there to rest and relax. It's walking distance from the village. And I must say, everything in Clarens was just very neat. I will definitely visit dar again.
We loved our stay at Riverwalk B&B. We wanted a retreat in the mountains and it was beautiful. The view from our loft room was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts on all three days were delicious! The rooms were cosy and warm and the sherry and chocolates on arrival were a nice touch. Loved it!

I was booked for 2 nights and 3 days and ended up staying an extra night which counts a lot. I was in room 6 at the very top which is highly recommended. I was really well received by very friendly owners. After a long journey, the relaxing atmosphere was just what I needed. My room was extremely neat and the view was breathtakingly beautiful. Every morning I woke up to delicious food smells and a quiet atmosphere and a view of the mountains. Anel's breakfast was a hit every morning and absolutely value equivalent to 5-star quality. The surroundings were beautiful and the guest house well located... not in the beaten path of the town. Thank you very much for a wonderful holiday.

Room was beautiful. Warm homely atmosphere. Our host was warm and friendly and our view was picture perfect.
First time to Clarens and it is now my favourite place in SA. I can't wait to go back. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are stunning, modern, clean, very well kitted out and looked after. The breakfast was excellent, I wish I could have spent more time there. But I will be back for sure, for a week at least.
Very neat, clean, everything you need is there, even an umbrella! Thank you very much! Might invest in air conditioning for the future, as there aren't many windows to open, it's a bit warm. There is a fan, but it should be a little louder than air conditioning.
One word: Beautiful! We were received very kindly and the rooms are extremely tastefully furnished. The view is breathtaking and the environment is special. Breakfast was top notch - Masterchef quality.

Awesome! You will not find better cleanliness. They could step up a bit with security like putting bars in front of windows if one wants to sleep with open windows. I will book with Riverwalk again in the future.

A bathroom, shower or toilet without a door is impractical. The whole bathroom is wet after someone took a shower. Anyone also seeks privacy when it comes to the toilet.

All rooms open onto a veranda from a private entrance, with luxurious bathrooms. We pride ourselves with the quality of our furnishings and linen, and offer a deluxe hospitality tray in each room, which includes rusks and and filtered water.
Breakfast is served on the second level in a Dining room and verandah with spectacular vistas of the area.
Dining room that serves breakfast from 07:00 to 09:00 during the week and 08:00 to 09:00 weekends. Internet access is available at meeting facilities for up to a maximum 10 delegates.
