My partner and I just made friends with other travelers. We washed dishes together, watched rugby together and interacted/got to know each other. The hostess, Linda, is very helpful, friendly and welcoming to her guests. We stayed over for one night, but it felt like a whole weekend. The bed slept well, the bathrooms and shower are spacious, and the kitchen is nice and big. Next time I will definitely try the pool as there was no time.
It's a backpacker lodge, so do not expect bed and breakfast amenities. Take your own food and respect the house rules: clean up after using the communal kitchen, wash up, and pack away. Keep noise to a minimum and respect other guests living on campus. If it is not yours, leave it be. There's a lovely lounge with some decent reading materials. Grab a book, sit in the garden, and read. We enjoyed the quiet, relaxed atmosphere, friendly professional service, and well-maintained garden and living areas. Highly recommended if you need a short break after a long journey or just a weekend away from the bustling city.

The place was a bit tight for more than two people and the water pressure was a bit of a problem, don't know if it was due to loadshedding, but Linda offered us the use of the staff bathroom. The parking was a bit of a problem due to the fact that it was "first come, first served", but that was mentioned. Otherwise it was OK.
It was such a lovely tranquil place to stay. Everything was well organised and we had a most enjoyable time at Robertson's Backpackers. We will definitely stay there again.

We are a bit divided what was best - our men loved the spacious braai area and the garden, my friend and I vote for the large self-catering kitchen and the pool! Go and see for yourselves! What you see in the photo on the website is not what goes on inside the house. The carpets and furniture are dirty, the windowsills are dusty, there are bugs that bite you when you sleep, and the washing and toilet facilities are inadequate. The bunk beds in the dormitory are almost forced into each other.
Peace and tranquillity is what you will find at Robertson Backpackers. Definitely not your typical backpackers. Everything is just perfect. Kevin and Linda are great hosts and their knowledge of Robertson and the surrounds is great. We had such a relaxing time at Robertson Backpackers, even though there were other guests. We were pleasantly surprised at the lovely surroundings and well furnished accommodation.
Close to town.
We booked in the Friday afternoon. Lynda gave us a friendly reception and showed us where everything is and took our to the en suite room with a view. The room is spacious if you're staying a night or 2, like in our case. The bathroom was quite a surprise - nice and spacious with a big mirror! The room had a lovely patio where you can relax and enjoy the garden. If I can make a recommendation or two: Maybe think about putting carpets in the room. The tiles are very cold! And maybe one or two hangers for those of us who didn't pack them. But other than that we had a lovely visit! Will definitely recommend them to anyone.
