76 guests' feedbackVery peaceful, quiet and peaceful. Will rest again, but the time before winter when it is not so dry.
A beautiful place. Clean, tidy, has everything one needs. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Dead silent. Giraffes, Njalas and other wildlife roam freely close to the guests; we really enjoyed it.
The stay was excellent, have already recommended the lodge to all my friends.
Rock Lodge is the ideal getaway for people who want to escape the city and relax in a bushland atmosphere. The self-catering units are well equipped with basic tableware (more than enough), while a very convenient outdoor barbecue area is available. The shower is large, with lovely hot water, and a window that looks out onto the rock cup. The residential units are far enough away so that privacy can be enjoyed. The reception was excellent. We saw a lot of wildlife - nyala, giraffes, warthogs, zebras, blue wildebeest, a waterbuck and kudus. There is also a shelter at a water hole from which wildlife can be viewed. We would highly recommend Rock Lodge.
A beautiful place. Clean, tidy, has everything one needs. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Dead silent. We enjoyed it so much. The natural beauty does wonders for one's mind and soul. Would recommend the place anytime.
We had a great time and relaxed. The reception was friendly and warm. We immediately felt at home. Safety and security are taken seriously by management. The giraffes, Njalas and other wildlife that roam freely so close to the guests are a sight from another world. The call of the fox at night made you realize that this is Bosveld!
Very nice stay. It's a beautiful place, comfortable, very beautiful among the rocks and had everything we needed. We will be back for sure!
Nature silence and central to surrounding attractions.
We had a very nice stay. Giraffe. Zebra. Bucks. Nice to see.
Lovely stay, very clean and tidy!
Lovely place to stay in the woodland with beautiful trees, birds and a shelter where the wildlife and birds can be observed more closely. Cute barbecue places with plenty of wood.
We had a great time at Rock Lodge. Thank you for your kindness and the fact that the children could come for a spin. Better mobile signal and WiFi would have been a lovely bonus, but the nature and silence made up for it.
It was a surprise that there was no lounge inside the unit, but relaxing outside next to the fire was awesome. The kids enjoyed climbing on the rocks and roasting marshmallows. Nannie, the housekeeper, is a very nice person and good at her job.
We went to rest for the weekend, we could do just that.
Very nice stay. Safe, also saw animals and the workers very friendly.
We stayed comfortably. Just the fact that the bath does not drain quickly, but takes forever, was a bit of an embarrassment. Also, washing dishes when it's not draining is also a hassle. No broom meant our feet were dirty all the time, and no working carpet to wipe properly made it difficult. We used it as an overnight stay, and that was luckily the reason it was not more upsetting.
The accommodation was clean and tidy. But the farm was burnt down. If we had known, we would have looked for another place. No contact with owner or supervisor.
My word from the first interaction with the service was absolutely amazing. The venue is quiet, just what we needed, and I must say that the pictures did not do justice to the place. An overall good experience I had with my partner, and I will be coming back soon.
Very clean and tidy. Friendly staff. Very peaceful atmosphere. Will definitely visit again. Thank you very much for the nice visit at the lodge.
Very nice accommodation, everything you need and very well maintained. Will definitely recommend it.
Quiet environment with beautiful natural beauty and is very comfortable and safe.
Owners live on site, service is great, beautiful trees all over farm, also bird shelter by water hole.
The units are very clean and tidy and well insulated against heat and cold. One is private and can only enjoy the silence and the forest. Wonderful stars in the evening.
Beautiful place - very peaceful and beautifully situated between the rocks. If you are looking for tranquility - this is the place. Excellent value for money.
It's peaceful. We were the only residents. The cabins are close enough to each other that if there are others there who like to stay up late and chat, that peace could be disturbed. We are early sleepers and early risers. Fly screens would be great so that one could open the windows or door to let the cooler outside air into the cabin during the night and early mornings in the hot dry season. We had to move inside to eat as the flies descended on us the moment the sausages came off the fire onto the plates. We had to eat sitting on the bed. I wouldn't book a long stay but for a value for money overnighter, it's fine. Check-in time is quite inflexible.
Will come again. We also saw some nice wildlife.
Rock Lodge Vaalwater, it was a fantastic, peaceful getaway and so private and beautiful nature. Friendly welcome and manager, Anita, came at least once a day to make sure everything was still in order, and even picked us up when they saw the giraffes. Chalet was beautiful and spotlessly clean with everything you need. Would definitely recommend and go again if only for a weekend.
Check-in was easy and friendly. Chalet was completely with everything that we needed the view was excellent and game roaming all over the lodge, braai is excellent, and wood is provided. The main area with pool is very comfortably and relaxing there is a high outlook (deck) that looks over the lodge and bush veld. A very nice viewing spot at the waterhole game roaming and during at the spot. Our stay was incredible and would recommend this place to nature lovers and wildlife photographers, this lodge is a must see.
Very nice place. Nice to go and rest.
Safe, clean, friendly welcome and treated like family! We can't wait to book again. Go for a lovely walk among the beautiful scenery, animals and enjoy the stars and peaceful forest in the evenings! Thank you Aunt Lana and family.
We urgently needed accommodation and then came across Rock Lodge. So I booked after 22:00 that evening with the thought that I would only get feedback the next morning because I booked so late. But I was wrong then. Feedback was received immediately, accommodation was booked and it had been a very nice experience.
Rock Lodge is great! It is just what one needs to get away from the busy city life. The service is excellent and we will definitely be using them again.
What a lovely place in the bushveld. The rock formations that surround the lodge are breathtaking. Lana and her staff have taken care of us since we booked at Rock Lodge. Good service. Thank you very much.
The lodge and its location is something special. And must be seen and experienced in person to really appreciate it.
See stars.
Very nice place if you appreciate the tranquility of the forest. Neat and clean. Wild is domesticated.
We had the opportunity to visit Rock Lodge for one night while en route. The customer service and care before and during our stay was fantastic! We would recommend Rock Lodge anytime to someone looking for a quick getaway from society.
It is beautiful and peaceful. True forest experience. Could do with more game.
We were received as if we were old friends, Lana and Elana, thank you very much for your excellent service and hospitality, we were immediately at home. The facilities are of good quality, neat and very well laid out, every detail has been taken care of. We also really enjoyed the farm, with several field paths to drive and interesting things to see. 6/5!
Just a pity the place was also affected by the pademi. People should really go and support them. Won't regret 1 moment.
The perfect place where you can really relax and not have to look over your shoulder for something that might bother you. Clean, nice and tidy.
We really enjoyed our weekend at Rock Lodge! The accommodation is everything you need to be peaceful and relax! We could swim, see animals, walk and we felt comfortable and safe. Very well located to try other activities in the area as well. Noeline and the team were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit them again!
Very clean and tidy. Staff very friendly. Braai area is beautiful.
This was so relaxing! We really did get away from the busy city life. The surroundings were perfect, I loved all the rocks! We had such a nice bonfire/braai - nice experience just outside our chalet. We loved all the wild animals and wild life. It was really quiet which we needed. I would go back anytime and just stay.
Nice place, nice walk and peaceful experience.
Goeie ligging vir 'n vinnige wegbreek. Baie vriendelike personeel, baie skoon en netjies. Ons het ons verblyf baie geniet, baie dankie.
On hot days we really enjoyed the splash pool in the beautiful lapa terrace. Nice to be able to braai every night at a cozy braai place with wood provided.
For us it was an opportunity to get away alone and just spend time together. It worked for us.
Visited Rock Lodge and it was really a special place, will definitely be back.
In exchange for someone's money, one expects service which unfortunately is not the case at Rock Lodge. The icing on the cake was the answer to a query about whether there might be matches or a lighter to start a fire with: "Sorry, none of the farm workers smoke, but there is a garage 10 km away".
Please consider putting a small TV in the rooms.
Everything we hoped for for a relaxing weekend away.
Tranquil Bushveld. Wonderful sleep.
Very peaceful and relaxing experience. Nice to escape from the city noise. Very hospitable and friendly welcome. Would recommend anytime.
We were received very kindly. House was just right for our needs. We went for a nice walk and quietly watched the animals and birds come to drink water at sunset at the water hole. We would stay there again anytime.
It was an unforgettable weekend at Rock Lodge. The service was top notch. Our chalet was well equipped and clean. The self drives were peaceful and relaxing. Can anyone recommend for a break from the hustle and bustle of life to relax there.
Awesome place and clean. Wish there was more game on farm.
Very very nice and clean lodge, you will surely see me again soon.
Had a great time on the farm with its peaceful atmosphere. The chalet was very neat and clean. Serviced every day. Game is very tame and well looked after.
The units are very nice, positioned away from the other chalets. As constructive criticism: The food preparation area is extremely limited, microwave oven occupies two thirds of the surface. Can't really use two plate oven there. Recommend that a shelf be installed above the microwave area and then microwave placed on the shelf. Washing up at the kitchen area would be a big plus. For the quality of the chalets, I would have expected a better braai area with a standing braai grill. I am aware of the problem with lightning, but would definitely have expected a TV with DStv in a central area. We had to drive out to Vaalwater to watch rugby in the hotel bar.
Friendly people make you feel welcome. Safe setting with neat rooms and facilities. Will stay there again!
A friendly, personal reception from Noeline and pointing to your chalet is all it takes for Rock Lodge to make a good impression. Fresh white linen, a well-equipped Gemsbok Chalet and plenty of firewood make it an experience that stays with you. There are just a few minor maintenance things that need attention. Rock Lodge is definitely worth a visit.
Good roads for hiking and mountain biking. Nice hide area to watch game. Rooms were clean.
A very peaceful atmosphere with beautiful and clean facilities in the bushveld. Safety not a problem.
Accommodation was neat and clean. Friendly reception. Wonderfully peaceful. Could relax. Had a little trouble getting on GPS. Lana was friendly, pointed quickly.
Kudu Lodge was clean and tidy. Rooms were serviced every day. I just want to mention that some aftercare needs to be done, because all the faucets, inside and out, keep dripping unless you overtighten them.
Would like to have a separate kitchen, can't cook in the room, it doesn't feel right.
A wonderful discovery when we were really desperate for a place to sleep. The booking was made easily via cellphone and they were ready for us when we arrived. Clean, quiet, wonderful shower, wish we could stay another night.
Hospitality was amazing from Roy the manager. Very neat. Highly recommend this place.
One of the few places you will return to to experience the good feeling and freedom again, thank you Rocklodge from arrangements to departure, nothing is too much trouble for these people. Will make it a regular destination, if you like a fire between the rocks this is definitely the place for you.
We were very happy with Rock Lodge and would recommend it to anyone. Perfectly located in the woods just outside Vaalwater. Friendly and helpful reception and service. It's wonderful to be able to walk around in the forest among the animals.
Very peaceful, just what you need to break away from city life.
Rock Lodge is a lovely intimate lodge for people who want to be in the bush without any technology or activities. The chalets are small but tastefully decorated with every detail seen to - kettle, fridge, microwave, crockery & cutlery, rusks, teabags, wood for braaiing. You do need to bring your own food and drinks. The host, Roy, is an absolute gentleman and was happy to see to our every need. I can recommend this establishment without hesitation for persons without accompanying children or teenagers.
Had a great time, peaceful place and saw wildlife too. Ideal place if you just don't want to do anything and Vaalwater close enough for a meal or a cappuccino.
Rock Lodge would be ideal for a day or two if you were looking for peace and quiet. The chalet is small, but comfortable and could seriously do with an air-conditioning unit, especially for the summer heat, as the fan in the room is inadequate. No sure that this would be a suitable venue for young children, especially if you were going to spend most of your day at the lodge. Would be fine for children if you were just going to use this as a base to sleep at. The manager, Roy, is very friendly and helpful. A small TV or radio in the room would also be a welcome addition.
Enjoyed it a lot. For sure a piece of gold of a land, chalets were very nice, clean and self-catering friendly. All we didn't like were the chalets that are very close to each other.
