Self-catering accommodation is offered in the colonial Main House with a wraparound patio and a pizza oven. Guests have access to braai facilities and can swim in the outdoor swimming pool, go cycling, or relax in the garden.
Reedbuck and duiker take their refuge in the surrounding indigenous garden in the whispering of the winds through the grass. As night tucks everything away, a million billion stars appear high above you winking sleep tight, you are safe.

20 guests' feedbackThis is a unique accommodation with a breathtaking view. It has everything you need for self-catering and is in the perfect location within the valley. Very safe, very well looked after, 10/10 for comms, and a bit of a hidden gem. The space is perfect for a getaway and to experience something different; felt very content in the cave setup. The photos are accurate. Only thing was hoping was that the rockpools were to be running with cascading water as in the pics, but that is probably more seasonal to summer. It was nevertheless a magical pool! Sweet geese that visited added to the ambience; we were sad to leave. Spot on with information and checking up, makes the whole experience that more enjoyable and secure.
It was exactly what the doctor ordered. Quiet, beautiful, peaceful, cosy and close to all the activities in the area. The host was a brilliant host. Very accommodating to all our needs. Definitely will be visiting again.
John is very friendly. Everything we needed was there including the Wi-Fi that was working perfectly. Will recommend this to anyone.
Beautifully placed with lots of space for the whole family. The hosts were lovely and very accommodating. Had evenings of fun braaing, playing pool and darts. Already looking at booking another stay there.

We had a short, but pleasant stay at the Rockwood Earth Lodge. It was a little early, and it was hard to contact the owners, but other than that, they were very helpful.
Relaxing, private and unique. If you love the rough life, this is the place. Welcoming host.
The unit was not up to standard at all. Bedding was in very bad condition. Sheets have marks on them. Linen and blankets are not washed neatly and cleanly. Crockery is dirty and in poor condition. We couldn't even swim in the rock pool because dirty water There was no cleaning service after we spent two nights there. Dishes were washed in dish soap that didn't even lather at all, so very poor quality products used. There was no welcome coffee or tea.
It was a lot of fun staying in our 'cave' for two nights. The space is compact but easily fits in all the essentials and a little more. With gas for cooking, and light bulbs that still work when power is off, loadshedding isn't an issue. The location in Central Berg is spectacular, and the quirky rock cave is set in beautiful gardens on the edge of a lovely swimming pool with private braai and firepit areas.
The scenary was amazing, old vintage but the best I will recommend people to go there. Very safe as well. The tour guy was very helpful. Will definitely go again.
Very large, everything you need house with lovely porch. Lots for the kids to explore and great location. Will definitely go back again!

This is a little gem in the foot hills of the majestic Drakensburg on route R600. This place will long for you to even stay longer. Place in nice, clean and well taken care of. Strict policies of no noise you can then enjoy the peacefulness
The ‘flintstones’ tipe accommodation is very cozy and so different to the expected. The ‘room’ was neat and tidy, maybe the two plate stove could be upgraded to match the micro but it was functional. The area is safe and good for a relaxing breakaway, no TV to disturb and convenient to visit the various Drakensberg sites and trails
Rockwood Lodge is truly a nice place to visit, with a swimming pool, scenery, mountain view etc. Value for money and very friendly and efficient staff to make your stay there enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it to a family that wants privacy - well done Helmut and team!
This is a very charming place and is one of the best equipped houses. The location and views are unbeatable and it offers a nice peaceful feeling along with safety. The host, Helmut, is fantastic and the Champagne Valley is definitely the best destination in the Drakensberg range.
