My parents, brother, husband and I spent the weekend at Roggevlei Farmhouse over the weekend and had a wonderful time. The house is comfortable and has everything you need. We had great weather on the Saturday and walked on the rocks/velt with beautiful views. Then we were lucky to have snowfall, about 7cm thick all over from Sunday to Monday. Our dog loved it too.

Roggevlei is very special. I will definitely want to visit again and explore the stone ridges behind the house more and further. I really enjoyed my stay. Farm life is the best life. My dog really enjoyed it too.

Very nice house and environment deep in nature. The children and dog had fun playing on the grass. We had a nice barbecue inside and outside and went for a few walks. The sunsets were beautiful and it was exciting to see the goats so close to home. We really enjoyed our three nights. Everything needed was provided (wood, blitz, matches, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits, towels, blankets, soap, etc.). Everything supplied is also unusually of very good quality, especially the soaps (Dove and Radox). Everything works. Only 2 stars for location for 2 reasons. The house is a 15-20 minute drive by dirt road from the main road. Dirt road is good though, plus we saw foxes and eagles on the way. However, this information must be made available on advertisement. For us it is nice to stay so deep in nature to get away from everything. It was therefore extra sad to see so much rubbish when walking south of the house (cans, glass, roofing sheets). I wish there was something you could do about this. I just want to make it 100% clear that the house grounds themselves are spotless.

I can definitely recommend Roggevlei Farmhouse for those who just want to get away from the hustle and bustle. Many places for farm road and mountain walks. The cottage had everything we needed, from indoor braai, heaters, and an electric blanket for the cold evenings. Our planned 3 night long weekend became a 4 night long weekend at Roggevlei within the first day. It was so beautiful and peaceful, 3 days were just too short to be able to do all the steps. Thank you very much for your hospitality. You will definitely see us again.

The house is beautifully situated on a working farm. It's ideal if you are looking for a place to go hiking/walking and are interested in rocks (they have fossils), wildlife, flowers and general beauty.

We stayed at Roggevlei as a base for a day trip to Katbakkies Pass. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

We found everything we were looking for at Roggevlei Gasteplaas. Spacious, peaceful and tidy private accommodation with the best quality bedding one could ask for. The well-equipped kitchen (with the most delicious biscuits that the hostess baked for us) is a big plus. We are keen walkers and were able to explore the farm in various ways, whether it was walking over the hill, or just taking the usual dirt roads. Our grandchild had a great time frolicking on the green lawn and I would imagine that people who bring their bikes with them will really enjoy riding on the dirt roads. The glorious silence is the perfect way to switch off and just recharge your batteries!

The house is beautiful and massive, and everything you need is there, including calm, space and adventure. The surroundings are heartbreakingly beautiful and there is so much to do and see. The accommodation is a beautiful historic house, modernly renovated, wonderfully spacious and equipped with everything needed and more. The farm and surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful and the owners treated us like royalty. Best of all - our dogs were also welcome, and enjoyed their holes out. A farm holiday like few!

We started the new year away as a group of 4 people with our three dogs. The farm is definitely something special. The dogs thoroughly enjoyed themselves and so did we by doing absolutely nothing during the day except rest. In the morning you could go for a walk for hours and in the evening everyone would have a good time around the fire. Will definitely go back again.

A real old time Cape cottage but very well equipped. It even has an extensive library - art, history, politics, natural history etc. No activities except strolls in the farmlands or into the rocky crags behind, but endless views and peace. A perfect place for a retreat with good friends and good food. Highly recommended.
