Very neat grand old house. There is a short gravel road which needs to be driven on.
Roode Bloem is a beautiful old house, well equipped for self-catering. It was a great place to stay - neat, clean, very quiet environment, quality beds (good mattresses and bedding) and well equipped kitchen. It has enough braai drums and chairs and seating outside so that the guests can keep their own braai separate from others and sit back and relax.

Plenty of parking was important as we were pulling a 6m trawler. The stay at Roode Bloem Farm House gave us that.

Stayed in a large room with private shower and loo. Very comfy beds and clean. Had access to lounge and dining room and kitchen with all utensils, crockery, appliances etc. Bring your food with you or you can take the 15 minute drive into Graaff-Reinet to eat out. We were greeted on arrival by our host and shown the ropes and given his cell number if we needed anything. You can book a tequila tasting on the farm. Lovely, shady stoep to sit on. We had a very comfortable, most pleasant stay over on our way back to Johannesburg.
Beautiful charming old farmhouse with high ceilings, wooden floors and big stoep, neat, clean, large kitchen equipped with everything you need, braai facilities with wood (R15), easily accessible near the main road, but far enough away that traffic doesn't bother, quiet dirt roads to ride your bike, lots of birds, friendly hosts, definitely worth sleeping over more than one night. If you are a light sleeper, the wooden floors will bother you when people walk into the house.
Tim (the owner) treated us to a talk (and tasting) about the Three Agaves Spirit (Tequila) and the history of the farm. Very interesting!

Nice and quiet and safe, we found that spending the night in Graaf-Reinet town is not nice at all, because you are overrun with beggars and do not feel safe. Coming home to Roode Bloem Farm House after a busy day in town was so blissful. The silence cannot be described. We were a group of 6 people that slept in 3 rooms. Even though there were other guests staying in the house as well, it was never uncomfortable. The giant, well equipped kitchen can accommodate lots of people at once. Excellent linen and beds. We never made use of the spacious lounge because it needs more seating.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Roode Bloem which was sadly too short! The house is well equipped, clean with comfortable beds and large spacious bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. Valley of Desolation 20 mins away was also a highlight.
We arrived late at night and left early and it was not a problem to them at all. Enjoyed the old farm style house with use of the large farm kitchen.

Our reception and accommodation were exactly as we would have expected — first class. Our host and wife went out of their way to make us feel at home, comfortable and well appointed, and they succeeded well. We like routine and pattern, which is why we will definitely inquire there first again, should we ever look for a place to sleep in the area again.
It's an old farmhouse that has recently been renovated with excellent rooms and attached bathrooms, made of high quality materials. The beds and linen are brand new and crisp. The communal kitchen has everything needed for self-catering, while there are ample braai facilities. Excellent accommodation close to Graaff-Reinet which has so many attractions, it justifies an overnight stay. We will use again. However, the outbuildings, in approach to the house, need attention as they negatively affect the view of the facilities. Still highly recommend.
