It's nicely furnished. And the owners are warm and friendly. Stay here for a few days and explore the area on foot, as we did. And enjoy the silence.
Absolute silence and tranquility. If you want to switch off, the place is just for you. Hospitable and helpful hosts.

Beautiful unit, spacious, clean and comfortable, neat, tasteful and unadorned. The farm dam was a welcome relief after the long road. The dirt road to the farm is beautiful and accessible to any vehicle and if you are lucky like us after the rain, you see the springbok frolicking in the water. We were warmly received and looked after and will definitely spend the night here again.

A beautiful home far from the maddening crowd. The cottage has everything you need for an overnight stay. The location is remote, and the stillness is stunning. Comfortable, very clean, and we felt very welcome.

The most beautiful house away from everything and everyone. It was so peaceful. Everything in the cottage was beautifully clean and tidy.
House was neat and clean. We went for a walk to explore the surroundings. Only fault I could mention was that the grill was not clean. The veranda where we bathed had a nice table and chairs, and gave a nice view of the farm. It was wonderfully peaceful surroundings, and deathly quiet. There is no cell phone signal or WIFI, which means that one is away from disturbance, and can relax. There is TV.
We spent one night in the special part of our country. The house is very comfortable. The silence and nature are special.

We were a family of five who stayed for 3 days. We thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility and the vastness of the Karoo. The owners are friendly and really helpful. We enjoyed the big house with its modern amenities. We even had a lekker open air bonfire going on. It was just super enjoyable. I highly recommend the Rooiberg Gasteplaas.
The renovated farm cottage was a delightfully appointed home from home in an idyllic Karoo setting. The farmer and his wife were very friendly and offered great hospitality.
It was one of the most beautiful and best vacations ever! We were there for 5 nights and the tranquility and beauty was more than we could have wished for. The house and swimming pool are incredibly comfortable and beautiful. Carien and Ockie made us feel so at home and made recommendations for routes on the farm to explore and places to visit in the area. Everyone should visit this Northern Cape treasure! They also helped us with a flat tire, for which we are very grateful! We will definitely return.

This is the first time that the physical place looks even better than the pictures on the web page. The house is beautiful and clean. The environment is incredibly beautiful and the people are friendly. The hosts will also go out of their way to make your visit with them an unforgettable experience. A beautiful home in wide-open spaces. The kids loved the space and the freedom to explore. We were there in August. The house was warm in the evening from the late afternoon sun but was chilly by the morning. It's a great place to enjoy some silence, beautiful sunsets and amazing stars.

We were specifically looking for accommodation on a farm on our way to Cape Town for one night. The 15 km dirt road (in good condition) is mentioned on the information section on the website and did not surprise us. It may not suit others who don't want to drive dirt roads. The wide open space around the cottage was exactly what we were looking for. Carien and Ockie received us particularly kindly and made an effort to accompany us to the unit. It definitely remains on our list of very pleasant guesthouses.

Typical old Karoo house from the outside and beautifully decorated inside. 3 Bedrooms with comfortable kitchen and lounge. Nice braai area outside with a beautiful view and lots of Karoo sounds. Lovely bed and bedding. Everything you need. Ideal accommodation for reading a good book, walking and just relaxing. We stayed one night which was way too short, stay at least 2 nights but if you can only stay one night go anyway! Wonderful hosts! Carien we will definitely be back again for a few nights then we can have a good time!
Carien has beautifully restored and tastefully furnished the house. The linen is of a high quality and the equipment of very good quality. Soft bedding makes one sleep like a dream. Carien and her husband are pleasant and friendly people. Next time we will definitely stay for more than just one night. The silence and the stars are heavenly.

After a very long journey from Johannesburg, Rooiberg was exactly what we needed. Everything was lovely and in their place. Very friendly reception and the tranquillity of the area will always remain with us.

We unfortunately stayed only one night, but Rooiberg is the real deal if you are looking for a typical Great Karoo farm experience. The farm house was recently renovated with great taste and detail and the hosts welcomed us with typical warm Karoo greetings into their world. Rooiberg Gasteplaas is highly recommended.
We had a lovely stay on the farm cottage, all luxuries and necessities provided for. Beautifully and tastefully furnished and our hostess went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Would like to stay longer next time to explore the farm by bicycle, they have tracks to accommodate this. We had our dogs with and they had a ball running freely everywhere. Was great. Thanks.
I'm so glad that I did this different stop-over, which was a great experience for me, well worth the added time. An isolated Karoo cottage on a farm way out of town in the Norther Cape. I slept with open curtains because the stars were so beautiful and the only sounds were the windmill turning occasionally in the wind, the bleating of sheep and the flying bats. I had time for an evening walk into nature which my dog Toto really loved. Then we sat on the veranda watching the unmatchable Karoo evening cloud formations in the gorgeous sunset. The cottage was pristine and well equipped and an overnight stop didn't do it justice. I will be back with my wife for a longer stay.

Lovely stay, wish we could have stayed longer! Can't remember the last time I didn't hear any sound from any car for so long. The few extra km that one turns off the main road is absolutely worth it. Very nice and hospitable people, their house is a long way from the guest house, so it feels like you are the only people on earth. The cottage itself is well equipped and the beds and bedding great.

Upon arrival the owners welcomed us. Friendly people and the house is well equipped. There are 3 bedrooms and equipped kitchen. It's a real Karoo farm and the silence is incredible. Beautiful view. It was the perfect overnight destination for us on our way to the West Coast.

Very friendly welcome even though we got there late. Beautiful 3-bedroom place, with DStv, a nice braai area, fully equipped kitchen (with nice fresh farm milk in the fridge)! Had a great time and slept very well.
Get to know yourself in nature.
We were pleasantly surprised with a beautiful, neat little house! It is brand new and very comfortable! Downside though is that it's quite far from the main road and it's on a dirt road! But must also say that the dirt road is very nice, even for a regular sedan car!
