The small cottage at Rooikat is very well-designed, and has a lovely sense of space. It is well-appointed with every item you might need available, including an umbrella, a collection of DVDs, spring water etc. Set in a lovely garden which one can use, and parking is secure undercover. There is a sense of style here, with a delightful bay window, beautiful decorations and a patio for admiring the view. Which looks over onto the conservancy - what a feature right on the doorstep. As is Clarens, which is within walking distance. We loved it from start to end.

Rooikat is a beautiful place that has everything to make your stay an experience! Highly recommendable.
You can't go wrong staying within a few minutes' walk of the town square, which is also lined with eateries and galleries and other shops. The surroundings are picturesque and the silence and calm of the stay incomparable. There are many other activities. We were received very helpfully in the rain before dark and helped to park the vehicles safely and dry under cover.
Friendly welcome, the cleanliness surprised, the location is ideal, the environment contributes to a relaxed atmosphere.
This place is amazing! It's got everything you need: an electric stove, a gas stove (you know, for load shedding), super fast internet EVEN during load shedding (which made working remotely a breeze), some electricity during load shedding, a braai, countless number of kitchen tools utensils/pots/pans/etc. The towels are super soft, the view and garden stunning, and the host very lovely! They have thought of really everything. . Convenience-wise, the cottage is located about 100m from the main square in Clarens, and on the fence of a beautiful river/protected area which is really well maintained and very enjoyable!. I will definitely go there again and highly recommend this little cottage.

Now it's the right place to rest a bit. The sound of the waterfall and the quietness of the place go well with each other and we were kept up to date with the latest power outage arrangements every day. Rooikat Cottage puts a lot of thought into providing the best stay for their guests. We ran into some load shedding but found the cottage had a gas stove and braai area (with provided firewood and firelighters) so we had no problems. Lots of board games and books and just far enough from the town centre to avoid all noise. Lovely.

The location was very good and the place was clean and felt safe.
The owner Cathy received us friendly and show us our small cottage with everything you need to overnight or even stay for a week. There was loadshedding on the Monday morning but we were sorted because she got a little gas stove for making hot water for our coffee and she also have solar lights. The place is very clean with crispy clean linen.
The TV did not work which did not worry us too much as we wanted to stay away from too much technology for the weekend. This may irritate other guests. We ran out of hot water by Saturday afternoon. The geyser water was luke warm to cool. But as it was a hot weekend we were not too perturbed. Again, this would irritate other guests. I was disappointed that a little milk was not provided in the fridge for the tea and coffee. This is the first self catering cottage we have stayed in that did not provide a little bottle of milk for guests on arrival. I would recommend Rooikat Cottage to a friend explaining the above to make them aware that there may be things to discuss and sort out with the owner.

We enjoyed the stay in the Rooikat Cottage so much, that we will go back there again. The beautiful, well-maintained garden, with dozens of bird species that come to drink water and offer a view of the mountain, provides a peaceful atmosphere. The walking trail right next to the site offers beautiful trees and bridges. Furthermore, the square with the shops is only a block away, everything within walking distance.

Clarens is a beautiful town. The cottage is very nice, clean and modern and located on a plot with a beautiful garden and a view of the mountain. The stay was fine, mountain view was nice.
First of all the road to the cottage is very bad, we didn't get the unit we booked because apparently something happened. We were given another unit where apparently there was so much fun that they had to repaint the place overnight and also replace a carpet. Place smelled of wine but must say the place is neat and clean and all that is needed is there.

We had a really nice stay - wow, where do you start? Everything you can think of is there for self-catering. We had a great stay and will definitely stay here again when we visit Clarens. Everything needed is there. There are even multiplugs to charge your cell phone in the room. We also found a jug of Oasis water in the kitchen. Even though there was no load shedding from Eskom, we still received a list with the possible times without power. The braai area and mountain were of course a very big plus. It really is a lovely quiet place to relax in Clarens.

We have never stayed in such a fully equipped overnight accommodation as Rooikat. It felt like we were staying in a five star place. We felt so at home and will never sleep anywhere else in Clarens than Rooikat Cottage. Trudie made us feel so at home and it is very safe. I will highly recommend it to all my friends.

Everything went well from our arrival until the next day with our departure. Clarens can get very cold in the winter but Rooikat Cottage has all of the warm facilities to make your stay there pleasant. The space is enough and the unit is beautiful. The stay was very pleasant. The equipment of the unit shows amazing detail planning. Eg even shoe brushes to clean shoes after the walk in Clarens dirt roads and basically medicine for an emergency were provided. The service was great and friendly.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful from the moment we got there. They provided lots of info we didn't even have to go to the office. The location is very safe and tranquil so it is ideal if you can do with some self discovery. The walking trails start just a few meters from the accommodations at the creek. Stunning nature. The town is ideal for a stroll and is walking distance from Rooikat Cottage. Pay a visit if you want to view and buy some art or meet some interesting people. This place should definitely be on your bucket list. We will definitely be back.

The house is a place that could be in Garden and Home magazine. Neat, clean, effective use of bedroom/kitchen/living room nook. Spacious bathroom has a sink, corner bath, shower, chair and corner cabinet. Equipped kitchenette and barbecue outside. The house is close enough to walk to town. Nothing negative to say.
The location of Rooikat Cottage is walking distance from Clarens square. With all the restaurants in town, it's easier to support them than to prepare your own meals.

We enjoyed our stay at Rooikat Cottage. We were pleasantly surprised by the amenities. Everything seemed newly decorated. The kitchen was one of the best equipped kitchens I've experienced in a cottage/chalets. The only drawback was a small curtain rail that broke off and that was left in the unit hanging over a chair in the living room for the duration of our stay. The cleaner said that they would fix it after our departure. Having said that, I have to add that we enjoyed our stay thoroughly and that we are grateful for the trouble that the owner went through to return an item that we forgot.

Mornings began with coffee and a breathtaking view of the garden and the mountains from the living room window. The cottage is well located. For those who walk, with many trails of various grades and attractions, hikers will find that the trails start just around the corner on the slopes of the mountains. Holidaymakers can also venture into these routes under the leadership of a guide. Otherwise, one is within walking distance of numerous restaurants, shops, the museum, and so on. The overall positive experience of our short holiday is long lasting and we will surely return to Rooikat Cottage on our next one!
