230 guests' feedbackThe camp and accommodation are very neat, clean and comfortable. Rob is nice and very helpful.
We had a great stay, friendly hosts and very neat place!
Very nice and peaceful stay.
Rob and Elsie were the greatest hosts. We arrived with a massive storm on the way; they assisted us with offloading and getting everything safely inside before the storm hit. It is really a beautifully decorated tented camp. Elsie is so creative, using things from the veld. The wood there is amazing; we brought back a lot for a real bosveld braai at home.
It was absolutely wonderful. Beautiful beautiful, neat place with the friendliest host. We will definitely visit again. We thank you for our nice visit with you.
It was a lovely, peaceful getaway. Fantastic place. Will go back again for sure.
Our stay at Roratau was nothing short of amazing and peaceful. We definitely had an amazing time and the hosts were so friendly and helpful. We'll definitely come back.
We had a wonderful stay. The accommodation is very well and neatly furnished, and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The hot tub at the tent was especially nice to relax in from the heat. Hearing the lions at night was also amazing. Will definitely go back again.
This place and the hosts are just incredible. The place is well kept. The garden and tent - everything so neat and tidy. The hosts kept checking in with us but also allowed us as newlyweds enough privacy. The visit to the Lion & Cheetah Sanctuary is a must! A ten out of ten.
We had a very nice stay. You are private and you can enjoy the tranquility and evening sounds.
Very nice stay. Will go back again.
It was fantastic. Clean, well maintained, private, peaceful and the night sounds (lions) are a bonus.
Had a great time, would recommend it for sure.
We had a very nice stay. Was a very nice and peaceful weekend. The game drive was also first class, we saw lots of animals.
We enjoyed it very much and rested wonderfully.
A very nice weekend and that in Gauteng, spit from Pretoria. We will go back again and again because the forest is beautiful, the animals' sounds are excellent and the accommodation and safety are of top quality.
The time at Roratau exceeded our wildest expectations. Absolute tranquility. Beautiful, clean and tidy. And, oh wow - the roar of the lions, and the other animals calling in the night - chicken meat was beautiful! Thank you very much Elsie & Rob for your genuine hospitality!
We had a really nice quiet relaxing weekend. The owners were very friendly and made sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The game drive was nice with a visit to the lion and cheetah sanctuary at the end to watch them get fed.
Well, what a nice place. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. The units are amazing and neat. The wildlife sounds are everywhere, especially the lions, hyenas, and jackals. The game drive was my first ever and a nice experience. Will definitely go back again.
The accommodation in the permanent tents was lovely and very tidy. Everything you need for a great break. Thank you, your place is fantastic and you will definitely see us again.
Very pleasant. Facilities are excellent. Awesome service.
It was the best with the sound of animals.
Cleanest and neatest forest camp I have ever stayed in. Ruan goes out of his way to make you comfortable. Most delicious and private place to just relax and recharge the batteries. Would definitely recommend and go back. The visit to the Lion and Cheetah reserve was also a highlight.
Amazing! What a wonderful stay, from the friendliness of our hosts to the camp itself, which was spotless. What a fun couple of days we had. Our hosts went out of their way to accommodate last minute game drives, a visit to the lion and cheetah sanctuary, etc. We had a fantastic time. Highly recommend Roratau.
It was a wonderful experience. The host and hostess are too expensive. Heart people!
Beautiful place, perfect for a weekend breakaway.
Special experience to listen to the clear, delicious roar of lions from the moment you light your barbecue fire until you brew your first caffeine mixture of the morning. Mix with that the whoop whoop sobs of the hyenas as well as the prolonged chirp of jackals and your palette of African night sounds is quite multi-coloured! There are a lot of extra attractions such as friendly personal service, awesome and well-appointed accommodation and relaxing or going for a walk to encounter the impalas, sables, kudus, giraffes, warthogs or giraffes on foot and so the summary is: Absolutely worth it!
We loved every minute of our stay. Highly recommend Roratau. Very neat and clean. Your own little sanctuary.
Everything is great. Nice people. The place is better than the pictures.
Fantastic forest getaway with extras like a private heated pool.
We will definitely go again. Was peaceful, beautiful and clean. Beautiful nature picture!
I enjoyed it a lot with my girlfriend. Very nice to enjoy quality time at a peaceful place.
Amenities and service were great. Airport noise and the unavailability of game drives during our visit spoiled and disappointed our experience.
An amazing weekend away, peace and tranquility is exceptional. Evening sounds of the jackals, hyenas and lions really magnify the African bush!
Wow! Roratau surprised me! The tents are extremely neat, very comfortable and equipped with everything you need. It was such an unforgettable weekend for me, my husband and our two sons. We were able to relax wonderfully in the new pool and just have fun together as a family. I didn't want to go home at all! Definitely a place to visit and what we can recommend. We will definitely go again.
We had a wonderful stay! The hospitality was always fantastic! Unit was nice clean and tidy. Nothing better than being in the forest with the sun bugs and the roar of the lions.
Very nice and peaceful.
The privacy on your own was the best and could relax for sure!
Very tidy, the host and hostess are incredibly helpful and friendly. Will definitely go again. Everything one needs is there. Nice peaceful getaway. Good for the soul.
The tent was beautiful. Nice space inside tent. The toilet and shower area are nice and big. The night sounds of the animals were breathtaking, especially the sounds of the lions and hyenas. Early morning goats near our tent. Now that was a nice morning surprise. The farm itself is very quiet and peaceful and the hiking trails were nice. My 14 year old son really enjoyed it, especially being able to walk around and follow the tracks of goats, giraffes etc. could look and identify. The hot tub was wonderful after a long day in Dinokeng. Rob and Elsie are very friendly people and we will definitely visit again soon.
Excellent getaway!
Pleasantly surprised with the silence, the cleanliness of the camp and the tent unit. Rob and Elsie made us feel very much at home. Game drive was an experience and the roar of the lions at night only added to the unique experience. If you want to slip away for a weekend getaway that is not too far and too expensive, Roratau is the place for you. They will definitely see us again.
Each tent has its own enclosure, privacy is respected. Located next to Dinokeng which facilitates visits there. The facilities at Roratau were excellent and the hospitality perfect!
Would really recommend it for a nice visit.
As usual it was a very nice weekend away from the city. Great comfort in a very neat, well-equipped permanent tent. Lovely to go to sleep with the roar of the lions and howl of the jackals. Thank you Elsie!
Rob and Elsie are so friendly and very accommodating, game drive was excellent, and would definitely recommend it to friends and family, such value for money!
Spotless glamping tent. Crisp linen, comfortable bed/pillows. Every utensil you could possibly need is supplied. Awesome bush pool. Felt more than safe when hearing the lions roaring throughout the night. Hyenas as well as jackals calling. It was incredible. Game drive with Rob was great. Very entertaining. Full marks to Rob and Elsie. See you again in August.
Roratua staff, Roelf and Elsie welcomed us with such a vibrant and friendly feeling and they ensured that our stay is being enjoyed. We did the 8km hiking trail to the top of the viewpoint with a breathtaking scene of nature. We walked through the farm and saw a lot of wildlife. Arlington Brewery is about 21 km away and we enjoyed proper beer. We also enjoyed a microlight flight at "Johan's microlight" inside Dinokeng and to see the wildlife and nature from 200 m above ground is just magical. The highlight was most definitely enjoying a good red wine each night at the braai, hearing the Lions roar and hyenas laugh extremely close by until late at night and just repeating these sounds early morning again with a cup of good coffee and Woolworths condensed Rusks. The best glamping weekend ever!
The hospitality of Rob and Elsie was wonderful! The game drive was excellent and the visit to the. "Lion & Cheetha sanctuary" was brilliant. We are planning a family reunion at Roratau.
We had such a great time and were so well hosted, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get out of the city and have a tranquil, peaceful time. We saw the giraffes almost every day which was amazing and went to Mistic Monkey which was unbelievable as well as the lion and cheetah sanctuary where we got to have an amazing experience stroking the Cheetah and got some amazing pictures, all round amazing value for money. Thanks so much, Rob en Elsie for such an amazing honeymoon.
Elsie and Rob were friendly, helpful and true hosts. The highlight was our game drive. Awesome.
It was an unforgettable weekend with my oldest son. We were able to relax and just have a good time. Rob and Elsie went out of their way to explain everything. Everything one needs was there. Silver clean. You will definitely see us again for a longer period of time - we didn't want to go home!
We were pleasantly surprised with Roratau. The tents are comfortable, clean and extremely tidy. Everything you need is at your disposal. The location also makes the place special, so close to Pretoria but yet you feel far from everything with the beautiful forest that surrounds you. We really enjoyed the "hot tub". Really a place to visit and we can recommend it. We will definitely go again.
The reception from Rob and Elsie was outstanding and the general maintenance of the camp and accommodation is incredibly good. The "glamping" experience was incredibly nice and the tents were "equipped" with all necessities imaginable. Our greatest experience for the weekend was the roar of the lions from the Lions and Cheetah Sanctuary, it was indescribable. Thank you very much, Rob and Elsie.
Awesome hosts, fantastic game drive, stunning location.
Roratau is a quiet and peaceful place for a quick break from the hectic urban life. A place where you can totally relax. Just the place we needed. The "hot tub" is an experience on its own. Rob and Elsie are an excellent host and hostess. Budget-wise, this tent stay is the most comfortable tent setup we've ever stayed in.
Wil go again, lovely view and peace and quiet.
Had a great time. Rob and Elsie make you feel right at home and the accommodation is the best tent accommodation we have ever stayed in. Everything you need is there. The tranquility is fantastic and each tent is isolated which gives you the feeling that you are alone on site. Will definitely go again.
It is absolutely worth it through and through.
Great place for a quiet weekend/holiday.
The accommodation was neat and tidy. Great place to unwind and enjoy nature.
See stars.
The owners are very friendly. And the place is neat.
We would love to visit again in the future.
We had a great time. The silence is heavenly. Will visit again.
Even though it rained a lot, there was dead silence and I could switch off from our hectic life. Rob and Elsie are very hospitable and genuine people. The lions and hyenas can be heard throughout the night and this creates a real bushveld atmosphere. The tents are very clean and tidy.
The tent houses are far enough from each other not to bother each other, everything was neat and clean and we experienced no shortage. It did rain all weekend, but the tranquility of the resort meant we could rest and recharge our souls. In the late afternoon the lions started roaring which could be clearly heard from our tent. We will definitely visit there again.
Peaceful, calm and private atmosphere. If you want to break away from the "rat-race" this is the perfect place to clear your head. Adjacent restaurant with delicious food should you get tired of barbecue. Our family thoroughly enjoyed it, owners very hospitable.
Thank you very much, Rob and Elsie.
My partner and I went to Roratau to celebrate our anniversary. We were beyond impressed with how attentive, friendly and knowledgeable both Rob and Elsie were. The tent was fully equipped for all our needs for self-catering. It was exceptionally neat and clean. Our favourite part was the hot tub which was warm and filled with crystal-clear water. We had an incredible weekend and would highly recommend this as the perfect quiet romantic getaway!
Beautiful surroundings. Green tv, wifi, no children a bonus for a peaceful getaway.
Hosts were great and very helpful. What a stunning place.
Thank you Rob and Elsie. See you again soon.
Please visit Roratau! Lions roaring in the background!
We had a great time and everything was perfect. We will definitely visit there again.
Hospitality, cleanliness, tranquility, privacy, everything you need to escape from the city.
We had a great time at Roratau! The tent was painfully neat and very well furnished. We will definitely visit them again!
Roratau Tented Bush Camp is true to values and standards. Rob is very professional and friendly, we were welcomed with a joke that immediately made us feel at home. The silence with the roar of lions made us yearn to have a little house in the forest too. The unit was well appointed and private.
I stayed for two nights in the tented camp. Only 5 tents with enough distance apart for privacy. Even though it was too cold to swim, this would be a lovely spot to just relax. It is safe to walk in the area and make up your own walking trail. Just an overall lovely spot to relax.
See stars.
What a beautiful place! We loved every second of it! Will definitely be back.
A great bush venue if you want peace and quiet.
The environment is particularly quiet and very beautiful. We had a great time relaxing and will definitely visit Roratau again.
We loved the holiday and commend our hosts for making the stay extraordinary.
Very nice and clean. Incredibly comfortable.
The visit was very nice at Roratau, we felt so welcome and really enjoyed the game drive even though the weather was cold it was worth it and we heard the lions every morning and it was amazing! Will definitely visit again.
Roratau was one of the most peaceful places we have been in a long time. The walking route is beautiful, between the mountains, and with the lion's roar in the distance, one feels at home.
For our first break in the area it was indeed a pleasant experience. The nature is very beautiful and we went for a lovely walk. The safari tent accommodation was very nice and clean with everything you need for your break. Thank you Rob, Elsie and Ruan for your hospitality.
Wonderful place, this was our 3rd time there, and would highly recommend it for a peaceful and quiet getaway. It is quiet and the roars of lions, laughter of hyenas and the sounds of jackals are enchanting. Rob and Elsie are the perfect host and wife. Our game drive with them and other guests was great fun. Never had so many laughs on a game drive.
Rob, Elsie and Ruan are incredibly hospitable, friendly and helpful. All the wildlife that passed in front of our tent along with the roar of lions, and all the other night sounds make it so exciting. Will really see you again.
I would definitely recommend Roratau to anyone wanting to rest and who wants some peace and quite. Best couples retreat ever. So much privacy. Love the MBT trail amongst the wild animals and safe enough to clog hicking. Love the tent vibe too. I can't wait to go back.
We have in the past visited numerous tented accommodations, mostly in the same general area. We can say, without a shadow of a doubt that Roratau stands out head and shoulders above the rest, and has become our new favourite tent camp. It is close to our home in Pretoria, it is surrounded by typical bush, and our tent was extremely private. What we noticed immediately was that it was exceptionally clean, well kept, and we could not find anything to complain about. The utensils were more than adequate, we did not miss any. The little pool is fabulous and very clean. An added bonus is the fact that within a comfortable walking distance there is a lovely restaurant with great food and fantastic staff. The game drive is a must, and at night you hear the lions and hyenas. The hosts, Rob and Elsie were the friendliest we have ever come across, they went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We have already planned our next visit to this wonderful tented camp.
Roratau is the perfect destination for decompression and rest. Lovely walks amongst buck, warthogs, beautiful birds. And the cherry on the top is each tent has its own private plunge pool. Definitely going back for more.
Nice and quiet with nice people.
Roratua is definitely one of the best glamping experiences we've had. Owners themselves are involved in the customer service. The accommodation was very clean and all the facilities worked. Plus point is the private pool. The place deserves a 5 star rating, it met all our requirements and the experience was a very nice weekend and break. Many thanks to the owners for a well-maintained accommodation.
Roratau is flawless, perfectly appointed and every aspect is thought through and 100%. We could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you Rob and Elsie.
Most fantastic weekend away from city life! We pretty much had quality time with family at Roratau. Facilities were extremely clean and tidy. It was breathtaking in the bushveld with the roar of lions. Thank you for your hospitality Elsie and Rob, we will definitely be back.
The tents are well equipped with everything you need to stay very comfortable. The hyena, foxes and lions interrupt the croaking of the frogs throughout the night and the hiking trail offers the opportunity for good exercise in the fresh air, what more could one ask for? The owners, Rob and Elsie, deserve a 12/10 for friendliness, helpfulness and thorough management.
Very private and neat, good quality service. Will definitely visit again.
Tents are not against each other. It's nice and private. Everything works and is in good condition, very well maintained. Friendly and honest service. Rules are strictly enforced. Leave the city and its noise and come to rest here in the forest where you can hear the lions roar (and you can visit them). It's an experience.
We do recommend that a gas stove would be better and more convenient. Especially with our load shedding.
Our Roratau weekend was amazing, peaceful and relaxing. Will go again.
It's naturally clean, tidy, and super safe! Very nice place and comfortable stay! 5-star glamping!
Roratau offers a fantastic experience. We had a great time in the heart of the forest. The owners are very helpful and friendly. The sound of roaring lions wakes you up every morning and at night they greet you again before you go to bed. Truly a breathtaking atmosphere. I would definitely recommend the place to anyone who wants to go and relax in the woods.
If you want to relax and enjoy some quiet time. This is the place to be.
So nice to lie in the evening and hear the lions, jackals and night life.
We had the most amazing time, the tents are so clean, you feel safe. The owners are such wonderful people, the game drive was memorable. A most awesome time was had.
Money well spent and a great getaway place.
What an experience, it's exactly what we needed. The tents are far enough apart that although you can sometimes hear the other guests, you cannot see them at all, and you feel as if you are on your own in the middle of the forest. The small private pool was the perfect treat. Rob and Elsie are incredibly helpful and friendly. The roar of the lions is just the right thing to end the evening with.
This past weekend has been one if the best breakaways I have had in a very long time. The hosts Rob and Elise are outstanding and very professional in the hospitality industry, lovely and highly spec tented camp with all the animal sounds at night from lions roaring to hyenas giggling. Get there it is a breakaway worth it. P.S. every tent has a hot tub.
Calm, restful, private and beautiful. Very attentive hosts, you must go on the game drive, it's a wonderful experience at a more than reasonable cost. In addition, they were very attentive to the needs of my pregnant girlfriend on the drive and she felt safe and secure at all times in the presence of the big cats.
It's incredible to be able to experience nature so close to Pretoria.
Friendly service from arrival to departure. Clean and safe and so peaceful. Would go again anytime.
It was almost an experience to hear the lions and at night the jackals and hyenas. The owners, Rob and Elsie are lovely people, so hospitable. The tent house was also beautiful, clean and tidy. We also really enjoyed the pool. We will definitely visit Roratau camp again. Thank you very much!
The walks on the farm are also well signposted. The pools are excellent for relaxing in after a long walk.
I have never seen such a clean place where everything works perfectly and is well thought out. I honestly can't say one bad word about the place or staff. Now that's how one should take a vacation.
We were pleasantly surprised with how well equipped the tent was as well as the friendliness of the owners. And our hearts were aching when we had to come back to town! The game drive was also fantastic and unforgettable.
Incredible place. Particularly neat and clean. In the evening around the forest fire and under the stars you become calm and you can recharge your batteries. With the lions, hyenas and jackals chatting together at night, you just want to go back again and again.
It was nice and quiet. We enjoyed it very much.
Roratau is just one of the many places you can stay in Dinokeng but they take good care of their patrons. We were surprised to see how well the tent was set up and how clean it was all the furnishings was also custom made. A plus point would be that they Have Tranquility spa and the Lion and Cheetah sanctuary close buy but of course you have to book in advance for their services. They have hiking, Mountain Biking and game drive available for your leisure as well.
We had a good stay and the extra night was a bonus because it was dead quiet and the night sounds are fantastic! Very friendly reception. We immediately felt at home and the staff are always available and very helpful. The tents are very nice to stay in. Very neat and well-equipped. The winter sheets were a bonus, especially early in the morning when the sun rises and the cold hangs in the air. We did not use the Boma or camp sites, but the layout was very nice and it was well-equipped. We have already booked another weekend!
Now that's really a forest adventure. Quiet, nice and lots of wild animals. Owners are incredibly special people. Will definitely visit again.
Thank you to Rob and Elsie for making our engagement so special. The tents are stunning and so private, it felt like we were the only two people in the middle of the bush. Thank you very much for this wonderful experience and you will definitely see us again. Totally in love with the sounds of the lions, an experience you won't get anywhere else.
What a fantastic time we had at Roratau. The pool was a big bonus, not to mention the lions roaring in the evenings and the laughter of the hyenas. It made it all very special. The stay was very good. Everything one needs is there. If I might suggest making provision for a microwave if you just want to heat something up quickly. Furthermore, everything was nice and clean. Beautiful surroundings!
We really enjoy it, you can't believe it's only 40 minutes from the city. Feel like you are on safari.
What a great weekend - would love to go again. It is so peaceful in the bush, private and full of character with the tent and night sounds of lions and hyenas and foxes. Friendly and personal reception, spotless and well equipped.
From our arrival to our departure the service was excellent! The tent and "garden" were neat and clean. The game drive is a must for all guests! Thanks, Rob and Elsie for the wonderful time. We will definitely do it again.
The owners ensure that every moment of your time with them is a lovely, peaceful and comfortable break from the chaos outside. Actually, I don't want to tell anyone about Roratau because some secrets are too good to share.
Wild ride is the highlight! The tented camp is incomparably perfect. The icing on the cake is the cooling water well. Unexpected visit you see lions, hear their roar 1.5 km from your tent. Cheetah and giraffes were beautiful and Rob and Elsie are perfect hosts and hostesses. We will definitely do so again soon.
The host and hostess were great and made us feel very much at home, great service. We rested well with the roar of the lions as music. Can really recommend staying at Roratau.
Really enjoyed my visit.
Ons kon nie vir beter vra vir ons naweekwegbreek na Roratau toe nie. Netjies skoon en privaat. Die leeus se gebrul was vir seker ’n hoogtepunt elke aand.Uitstekende gasvryheid. Hulle gaan ons vir seker weer sien. 10 uit 10.
Very good reception. Clean facilities. Rest for your soul.
The venue is clean and private and the hosts are wonderful people, ready to help and wanting to make your stay great. Every day we could hear the lions roar in the distance. It's truly a great place to take a break. Tents are very neat and tidy.
We were received very kindly by Rob and Elsie and they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The cottage is beautiful inside, neat and clean with everything you need for a lovely break in the bush. The night sounds (especially the roaring of the lions in the nearby "Lion sanctuary") add to the bushveld experience.
Very, very neat place to stay, wonderfully clean, open-plan kitchen, strangely beautiful scenery with dry trees, dry grass, dusty paths. The splash pool was absolutely ideal in the intense heat we experienced and we couldn't have asked for better during our game drive. Lions who couldn't wait to be let out of their camp provided great excitement for us and them. 7 giraffes standing right in front of us in the road so we couldn't drive any further and walking lazily in unison in the woods at their own time was wonderful to experience.
Was impressed, it was tidy and had everything needed to make the weekend a pleasure.
The camp is neat and it's the perfect break from the city.
One of the few places in Dinokeng area that I can really recommend. The owners are very hospitable and helpful. Really nice stay.
Will definitely be back!
If you want to be in the woods this is a beautiful place to visit. Bird life is very beautiful!
We were there with our 4 month old baby who they told us no children were allowed. It's nowhere on the website?
Lovely, windless evenings by the fire.
Roratau lives up to its name. We heard lions roar every day. Host and hostess go out of their way to keep customers happy. Very neat and clean. Can really recommend staying at Roratau.
Place is incredibly clean and tidy, very special layout with each tent its own hot tub and braai area. We simply did not want to go home.
Everything was perfect. It was clean and tidy. The lions' sounds were so special every night. The nature is breathtaking. There is nothing else that I needed so much. We will see you again!
The tent has absolutely everything one needs. You feel safe and private at all times. Owners very helpful and hospitable. The hot tub is definitely a bonus! Will definitely book here again.
First time we visit a place where the reality is better and more beautiful than the website photos. Very special place.
Roratau's tent houses are particularly neat and well equipped. During the game drive we saw a lot of wildlife and the lions were a big surprise. It was a wonderful experience to hear the lions roar at night. Furthermore, we really enjoyed the cycling and the "hot tub" was a nice treat. Many thanks again to the delightful owners, Rob and Elsie. You can rightly be proud of Roratau and we will definitely come to visit again!
We just want to thank Rob and Elsie for the excellent service, kindness and helpfulness. Look, we couldn't ask for better. The place's tents are as neat as they are precise as in photos, even the hot tub was absolutely delicious and we're not even talking about the nice game drive we were on. The bliss overwhelmed us and you feel part of nature again with the roar of the lions, the laughter of the hyenas and the howling of the jackals while you enjoy a barbecue and a lemonade. You can know you will definitely see us again, and I can recommend it to anyone. Once again, the two of us just want to thank you very much.
What a wonderful and peaceful and beautiful place, right under our noses! Thank you Rob and Elsie for your hospitality and wonderful service! The sound of the lions is indescribable! We enjoyed it so much! There really is nothing we could fault, we will definitely be seeing you again soon!
Thank you Rob, Elsie and Ruaan for your hospitality. This is one of the most beautiful tent camps we have been to! Highly recommended! We come again. Your hard work is noticed and appreciated. We wish you every success!
We really enjoyed our weekend and will definitely visit again. Rob and Elsie made us feel very much at home and looked after us well.
Relaxed wonderfully. Tents are very well equipped, there was really nothing that was lacking. Thank you Rob and Elsie we will definitely see you again.
If you just want to relax in nature with the roar of the lions, the calls of the jackals and the laughter of the hyenas, then this is the place. Thank you, Rob and Elsie, for your hospitality. My parents especially enjoyed it.
What a feast to fall asleep and wake up to a chorus of lion, hyena and jackal voices.
The tent was very well equipped, owners thought of everything. Rob and Elsie are extremely nice and helpful. The game drive was also nice. It really is the ideal weekend getaway - within 40 minutes of Pretoria on the Moloto road, easy access, even with a sedan. Highly recommended!
It was a great privilege to be out of the city 40 minutes from the house in a wonderful camping atmosphere without the hassle of pitching tents and packing and unpacking! The tents are also so nicely placed that everyone can watch the late afternoon sunset while the barbecue is burning! Many thanks to the hard-working Rob and his wife Elsie and their son Ruan who are responsible for everything at Roratau - even cleaning and maintenance! You deserve to get only the best clients and be able to do business to the fullest! We will definitely come again!
One of the best places, thank you.
Absolutely wonderful, Rob and Elsie are very hospitable and helpful, units are super! Great!
If you are looking for a weekend to just relax and recharge, then this is it.
You can hear the lions roaring all day. Our game drive was incredible. Rob and Elsie are the friendliest people and really make the effort to make your experience special.
If you are unable to behave - please search. for your other resting place, because then this quiet place is definitely not what you are looking for. This place is in the woods, very quiet and very neat. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. If you follow their rules, it will definitely be a good time for you. See you again soon. And oh yes, they now have campsites too!
Rob And Elsie are great hosts. Very helpful and friendly. Make you feel like family when you arrive there and you really leave like family when you go. What a great place just to go and relax in the bush.
Rustige kuier in bos met geluide van leeus, hiënas, jakkalse. Baie netjies en vriendelik ontvang met alles wat mens nodig het vir 'n naweekwegbreek.
Owner and his wife very friendly. Will definitely go again and camp there and tell my children and friends about the nice place.
Rob and Elsie are such warm people who immediately make you feel at home. They go above and beyond to make it enjoyable. Beautiful neat tents with everything you need. The cooling pool is delicious, hot or cold. Incredible night sounds. We will definitely visit there often.
Roratau is a gem so close to the city! With your own private piece of woodland, you can't help but relax. Our unit was tidy and had all the amenities you need. The owners, Rob and Elsie, made sure we felt comfortable and welcome. We will definitely visit Roratau again!
Very nice and private.
Because signal is a problem, we give you remotes for customers to go in and out of the resort. An air conditioner would have made it even nicer too. Hospitality very good. Will definitely come again.
It was absolutely fantastic. Neat, quiet, excellent service. The lions roar at night awesome! Will definitely go again!
What a wonderful experience staying with Rob and Elsie on Roratau. The privacy and pristineness we experienced here cannot be bought with money. We were pleasantly surprised, because all facilities were at our disposal even though it is in the forest. We went home to Kudu camp, far away from everything. The private splash pool provided pleasant respite in the heat. My husband and I celebrated our nineteenth wedding anniversary there and we couldn't ask for better, in terms of scenery, privacy, comfort. At night we could listen to the roar of lions on the adjacent farm and were also aware of foxes and hyenas in the area. Roratau we will definitely see you again!
What a lovely, well appointed, neat and clean place. Rob and Elsie thought of literally everything when they started this place. The tents are of high quality and superbly furnished. The hot tub is spotless, the porch / kitchen is one of the best with literally everything you might need. Rob and Elsie are very friendly and helpful, without being a nuisance. I give Roratau 11 out of 10! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a getaway in the woods. We will definitely go again!
My wife and I were on a prayer weekend and was looking for a place that could offer us peace. We got that from Roratau. Rob, Elsie and Ruan went to great lengths as lodge owners to make it as convenient as possible for us. For sure I will visit Roratau again.
Elsie and Rob made it all so comfortable, thank you very much and see you again in December. Would recommend Roratau to anyone, it's really nice and peaceful.
There are few places like this and the experience was absolutely unique and very enjoyable. Thank you Roratau for an unforgettable weekend! It was simply good for the soul and will definitely visit again!
Die mense is net wonderlik, die verblyf was awesome, die plek rock, beslis 'n moet.
A must for any person needing some quiet time. Elsie and Rob is the perfect host and always available. Thank you!
It's very private and the customer service was excellent!
Robbie, Elsie and Ruan treated us so well and really made our long weekend so enjoyable. Good people!
Wonderful reception and accommodation - we couldn't have asked for better. The roar of the lions in the evening is an incredible experience.
Rob and Elsie are friendly and make you feel at home. Tents are clean and neat and don't need anything more: just relaxing and enjoying the view. Will definitely recommend and be back. Lovely experience and enjoyed.
Rob and Elsie, such friendly and great hosts. For people who want a quick bush getaway close by, Roratau is ideal.
Again an amazing experience (our second visit). Rob and Elsie make you feel at home immediately and go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Camps are well laid out and extremely tidy. The security fence lets you sleep well with the roar of the lions. Will visit Roratau again anytime.
From arrival to departure we felt welcome. Rob and Elsie are people of the heart, caring people. Everything is clean, tidy and every detail has been taken care of. All we can say is go and experience the Bosveld with people who really care about their guests. Thank you for a wonderful spoiled visit!
Elsie and Rob's (and Ruan's) customer service is second to none. What a pleasant surprise. The tent house is neat, clean, tastefully furnished and everything works! It was so nice not to hear any sirens and traffic. The tent houses are far apart, so you don't even see the neighbors. Even better is that we can choose whether to turn on our exterior lights or not. How nice to just sit by the light of the fire and stars, with no other sounds than those of the night life (and of course the lions' sounds of all their cat wales) to hear. We will definitely return. 5 stars in all respects.
If you want a total bush getaway, Roratau is just the place. We were totally pleasantly surprised with the place and Elsie and Roy's hospitality is inexhaustible. We will definitely stay at Roratau again and take the family with us.
We received amazing service. Rob and Elsie went out of their way to make out stay unbelievable. Will definitely go again and again and again!
Very neat and comfortable. Close to the Dinokeng Reserve for quick game drives. Host very helpful. Thank you, Elsie and Rob.
We had our kids from Sweden visiting - very impressed with Rob, Ruan and Elsie's personal care and attention to detail. Fantastic ambiance and location. Will recommend!
The perfect place for a getaway weekend. And not even far to drive! The tent houses were beautiful, really well appointed and everything was so neat and clean! The hot tub at each tent will definitely be a hit in the summer! The roar of the lions throughout the night was definitely a highlight. Rob, Elsie and Ruhan are fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome. They also provided a great game drive! We enjoyed the stay there and would recommend people to stay there anytime. We will definitely visit again!
Rob and Elsie, it was an incredible four days at your piece of Bosveld. Your hospitality, cleanliness and care for us exceeded all our expectations. Thank you so much for the wild ride. The love with which you take care of your place is unprecedented in these days. May you go from strength to strength! Marina and Dirk.
Rob and Elsie are top class hosts! The camp is well maintained, our tent was perfect and the kitchen well equipped. It was the small things they did that left a lasting impression and we will return. Missing the night sounds already.
Elsie and Rob are very pleasant. Would recommend Roratau anytime. Als is clean and well looked after.
We had been there with the two of us for 2 (3 months and 20 months). Elsie and Rob were very accommodating! The Tented camp is very neat and clean! We will definitely go there again!
Elsie and Rob's top notch hospitality makes you feel welcome immediately.
Roratau Bush Camp offers extreme tranquility, especially in the outdoors. Jacuzzi as well as hospitality that cannot be easily beaten. Great area to walk or hop on your bike for a nice outing with some much needed exercise. Will definitely visit again. Thank you Rob and Elsie.
Rob and Elsie are fantastic hosts and we'll definitely go back again.
If you ever want to experience the sounds of the king (lion) at night this is the place to be, very nice and lovely people. Was a wonderful weekend away and very beautiful. Thank you so much for your hospitality and the wonderful game drive.
We were welcomed by Rob and Elsie upon arrival. They showed us everything and told us about the area. It was a very relaxing weekend.
A perfect getaway within close proximity to Johannesburg. Rob & Elsie are fantastic hosts and we were made very welcome. The accommodation is very neat and tidy and extremely well equipped. The location of the tents also ensures privacy. The game drive was well worth it as well. Thank you Rob and Elsie, we will be back and will certainly recommend Roratau to family and friends.
It had been a wonderful weekend. Warm welcome from Elsie and Rob. The unit is well equipped, clean and private. We would definitely recommend Roratau to anyone who likes the bush.
Very quiet, private and peaceful time in nature.
Beautiful, clean accommodation. Very well equipped and convenient. Friendly, good service from owners. The roar of lions and barking of hyenas during the night was an indescribable experience.
Clean, safe and peaceful!
Neat and safe, part of larger area and you hear lions every night.
Their reception, the unique tent accommodation, the bushveld silence and the overall ambiance - Rob and Elsie, you are the 'Tau' in Roratau.
Just want to thank Rob and Elsie for their hospitality, we will definitely see you again.
A very nice experience.
I would recommend Roratau to people who want to rest and take a weekend away from the busy city life. The units are well equipped and very private. We were kindly received and had no complaints. The units are located on a larger area of over 2000 ha and I would highly recommend taking mountain bikes to explore the beauty of the woodland. You also get very close to the wildlife.
Was very awesome and very, very nice. People very friendly and very beautiful place.
Rob and Elsie were extremely helpful and friendly. We arrived there as strangers but left as friends. We enjoyed the stay there and would recommend people to stay there anytime. The tent/campsite was really well equipped and everything was so tidy. If you lacked anything, it was your own fault. The game drive was more than just an ordinary game drive. They were friends hanging out together and admiring nature. Thank you very much for the two of you as well as the opportunity to be able to share your place.
Had a lovely weekend. Rob and Elsie very hospitable. Would recommend place anytime.
We really enjoyed the weekend at Roratau. Rob and Elsie are the perfect host and hostess. The tent was very clean and very well equipped. Our time was very comfortable and enjoyable. The children really enjoyed the "Hot Tub". We will definitely book again. Really good value for money and not too far for quick weekend getaway. If you want to get away from the "hussle and bussle" of the city, Roratau is just the place for you.
Didn't realise there is so much "bushveld" just outside Pretoria. The owners, Rob and Elsie's personal attention, without being a nuisance, is very special. We will definitely visit there again.
Thank you very much, it was wonderful and we will visit again. We will do it soon and bring more friends. Your place is the best.
Was so beautiful and peaceful. Lions sound so beautiful in the evening.
This place is just what your heart and soul need! Peaceful and in the woods! The owners go out of their way to make your time there worthwhile. The splash pool is lovely on a hot day as you watch the kudus and zebras pass by on their way to the water hole. Every night you also hear the lions roaring and the hyenas laughing.
A great place to be, we loved every second of our stay at Roratau. Thanks Elsie and Rob for your hospitality and friendship. Hope to come back next year!
Would definitely recommend Roratau to anyone who loves nature. The place is very neat and clean and equipped with everything you need in a self-catering unit.
Nice, clean accommodation. Very friendly hosts, always willing to help. Lion roars and all other animal sounds at night is awesome! Thank you for a nice weekend.
It is a very nice bushveld holiday, you can rest and just relax, has all the facilities needed would recommend to anyone who likes the bushveld.
Tents where just amazing. Sound of the lions roaring was a true feeling of being in Africa. Hosts are amazing and the late check out made the stay just that more relaxing.
Roratau is unforgettable. Rob and Elsie went out of their way to make us feel at home and pampered. Thank you very much, we will never forget the weekend and will definitely visit again.
Roratau offers the ideal chance for a quick getaway from the city. The facilities are very good, hosts extremely friendly and helpful. The wild animal sounds at night are a bonus. We will definitely visit again.
We really enjoyed our stay at Roratau. The tent was really well equipped and had everything we needed. Even with two rainy evenings it was an excellent two days with the noise of the bushveld all around at night. The hosts are very friendly and explained everything we needed to know on our arrival. We will definitely be back with more family and friends.
Beautiful place that is well protected. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We booked a tent and were upgraded to their biggest tent without any extra payments.
What a wonderful beautiful place, so close, but not so far but yet so quiet, serene and good for the soul. Beautiful sunsets, lovely little "bush pool", the kitchen is beautifully equipped with all you need, we requested wood and ice and it was waiting for us when we arrived. Rob & Elsie are very friendly, helpful hosts and cannot do enough to make one's stay pleasant. They even provided us with a step to be able to get into the pool easier. It was absolutely awesome to hear the roar of the lions at night, see the stars and breathe in the fresh air. The game drive was also lots of fun and laughter. We will most definitely be going back again, regularly.
We were received kindly and all our needs were met. Tents are modernly equipped, luxurious and clean. Privacy of each unit is also ensured.
