Very friendly welcome, rooms clean and well equipped. Building and especially outside furniture urgently needs TLC but we were comfortable and slept well.
The stay at Rusticana is always pleasant, from the friendly staff to the cleanliness of the rooms/venue. They are very accommodating their guests.
Riverside a lovely town and our room very comfortable.
Fanie was not a pleasant man. He does not have a way of speaking to the guests. We had a problem with the gate at the back, and the more we explained that it was giving problems, the more he said it wasn't giving problems, which made us feel like we broke it and we are lying. Where are the cameras to view these things? The place itself is beautiful and a good place to breathe, and the community is friendly. I'd recommend this place to anyone; it's really good.
It was neat and clean, but certainly not worth R700. There was no milk or rooibos tea, and the coffee was of the cheap chicory types (horrible taste). The room was right where there stopped big cupboards that were forever idle and opened into a courtyard area where some of the other guests were smoking (it was very unpleasant). Usually at least shower gel or soap is also provided. The place is more of a motel than a guesthouse. The bathroom was extremely disappointing.
There was not enough parking. I had to park someone in the evening. Couldn't sleep because of this and got up early just so I could get away before someone complained about it. There was also no lighting to my room and lots of bushes. I felt very unsafe. The WiFi was also not available at all, no signal.
It's affordable and well situated in town.
Worst experience ever. Previous negative reviews were brought to the agent's attention and assurances were given that everything had improved. No hot water. Wi-Fi faulty. Staff try their best to correct mistakes, but after payment has been received, complaints or bad reviews mean nothing to the owner of Rusticana, as well as you. The mistakes at the guest house can possibly be repaired, but your blasé attitude regarding complaints speak volumes. Absolutely disappointed.
The guesthouse has many rooms. I have no idea what the closer looks like, but where we were in it was not nice. Bedding looks dirty and stained. Mattresses are laid out, if the springs don't sting you, you only feel boards under you. Windows cannot close properly. It was very cold, and they give one blanket, later asked for more. Then get stuff with cigarette burns on it. Toilet seat was broken. Plates were still dirty. Aircon did not work. And then you get neighbors who also have no respect for anything or anyone. The guest house also sits on the corner of two very very busy streets. But as I say, maybe it was just our rooms at the back of the building that looked like that. No idea how it is in the other on the front.

It is fine for 1 night's overnight stay. Walls and ceilings need attention. Aircon did not work. People were barbecuing outside our room until late and making music that made it impossible for us to sleep properly.
Our unit was worn out. Shower door broken, no light shade in bathroom and air vent very dirty. Other guests barbecued in courtyard with no consideration for other guests late at night. Other rooms looked much better but ours was really not what I expected. Wifi did not work well.
Bed was comfortable enough, but there is room for 4 people, or 2 children and 2 adults, but there are only towels and chairs for 2 people. Both the bathroom door and the shower door cannot close. There are no porridge bowls, and there is dish soap but no washcloth to wash dishes with, nor a dish towel. The toilet bowl isn't even fixed, so it's a safety risk. The freezer was packed in such a way that half of the space consisted of ice. The reviews make it look very nice there, but we are very disappointed. The signboard is also completely overgrown with plants.
Images were better than in real life, shower water connection wrong way around. Tiles on shower floor not suited for shower(slippery). Terrible coffee in room and no milk supplied. We didn't like seeing the mattress through the bedsheets.
No reception, room door could not lock and the kitchen area was a bit dirty.
Owner lives in Bali and the gate where one has to enter is overgrown. The rooms have such a strong smell that one's eyes water. Couldn't sleep over there!
Real value for money.

The atmosphere is good, nice and calm. The place is located in a right place. The staff, Popsie, was very helpful.
My child did enjoy the swimming area.

We really enjoyed the pool and breakfast in the beautiful dining room.
There isn't much to do at the place but to go back and just sit back and relax or sleep is a good place to be at. It was extremely nearby everything, Fanie and the staff are friendly and were waiting on us from cape town at 9 pm the evening, we didn't get to swim but the pool looks lovely it isn't painted blue so in the pictures, it looks dirty but it is clean, Thank you for a warm stay!
The owners also cook the most delicious jams.
Misleading advert. Body dirt does not wash down the drain in shower. Water drainage is slow. No insect killers in rooms. Big cockroaches and mosquitoes in rooms.
With a little attention it could be an incredibly beautiful place with a nice place to hang out around the currently very dirty pool. At the moment nothing more than a place to just spend a quick night.
Stains on one duvet in one room. The setup is terribly messed up and creates a very untidy look.
Bedding stinks of dirty water or something, couch and chair are frayed and don't look safe. Beds are laid out. Aircon not working. Room wall has old wet water spots, it looks bad! No mirror in room, had to do make up and hair in kitchen! Kitchen cupboard looks bad. Soap bottle in bathroom with no soap. Window in bathroom can be viewed from outside, right on shower, no privacy. There is a very unsafe step in the corner of the shower and the drain of the shower also leaves a lot to be desired. Reception is through a security gate at the kitchen? After having to move past a bunch of unsightly stuff to get there. The dining hall is built on top of a chicken coop! How can such a place still be listed!
It met what we needed.
Hostess disappeared the moment we arrived. There was no one to e.g. to ask if there was WiFi and if there might have been a braai tong available. We also didn't have a remote to lock the entry gate, so we were worried about our car. The bedding and towels were clean and tidy, but there were quite a few daddy long leg bugs in the room and bathroom.
Couldn't sleep all night with all the noise outside.
False advertising. Place not at all like website. No host, no security. Not even towels.
Cutlery but scant, (nothing even looks the same), no dish towel or dish soap, shower door can't close. Poor lace curtain in bathroom with plain panes looking out to other rooms so no privacy in bathroom. Cold faucet in bathroom by sink broken. Had to find someone at reception to help us. WiFi not available as advertised.
The place has no customer service (there was no guest house manager who makes sure everything is in order and there for any questions and requests) and also no security (all the rooms and premises are wide open and there is no control), and because the place is next to the main road of the town, it is very noisy. Trucks go by with a lot of noise from early in the morning until late at night - false advertising, photos on websites and reality are very different. More points: Pool is dirty and green. No WiFi password provided. Restaurant was closed. Bar was closed.
Fanie is always hospitable and the rooms are tastefully equipped. Value for money.

The stay was lovely, the staff were friendly and we had a lovely breakfast. Only issues - there was no light in the kitchen area and before booking there was mention of shared DStv, however when we arrived there were no TV channels.
Accommodation was very well hosted and my dance group had an amazing time. Thank you Oakhurst.
The location is good but the traffic is the one thing that affects the place negatively.

When we arrived, we were welcomed by friendly staff and the room had everything we needed. The breakfast was yummy and fresh.
The reception was bad, my booked and confirmed room was given away to someone with a smaller child. My child was too fulfilled and very sad about the excuse as a room. It was dirty and lots of bugs and spiders. Night 2 we were moved to something better but the pillows and mattresses were of power quality.
A beggar came knocking on our door at 8:30 in the evening which is totally unacceptable. We were especially concerned about our car's safety. There are plots everywhere where repairs are being made, but therefore not tidy at all.
The positivity dominates. The gardens can be a paradise, but it's neglected. Grass is tall and weeds grow in abundance.
