Excellent value for money. Don't be fooled by the price that is generally lower and assume that the standards are lower too. Far from that. Andre runs a good ship here and also is a very friendly gentleman. I would have no hesitation recommending this establishment.

My minimum expectation was a comfortable bed in a quiet environment. What I got was a fully equipped. luxury room, kitchen and bathroom in a quiet wind-sheltered back street but within walking distance of the main beach and with a small supermarket 50m away. I was received kindly by the owner and was continuously asked if I needed anything. A hidden gem in the Strand

It is indeed a wonderful place where the owner, Andre, personally liaise with individual guests and it is easy to make any reasonable request personally to him.
I'm not much of a review writer. The place was clean, easy to find, I slept well and all was great.
Good reception, service and friendly.
Owner very friendly but the room was not as expected. Old and not as clean as I'd like. I prefer white bedding and not such a dark room. Parking also not at all sufficient and WiFi doesn't work everywhere.
André was immediately available if needed ─ he was absolutely fantastic! It was lovely to stay there and we had no problems.

Ruxmian Lodge is very comfortable. The beds sleep well, and the kitchen and bathrooms are fully equipped. The fact that the guest house is serviced, even on a Sunday, was a big bonus. We would definitely recommend it.

The bedding and towels were not up to standard.
What is promised on the advertisement is not provided to the guests - breakfast, kettles in rooms, some afternoons maids didn't come to make the bed until 15:00, the tv in one room only has SABC channels on it. The room and rubbish bin are only cleaned once a week and that is also when the bedding and towels are replaced with clean ones. I might as well have stayed in a backpackers! The attic room where the general TV is to be found is so ungodly hot that one is not interested in watching TV there, even though it is the only TV that has satellite TV.

This is a quiet and safe guesthouse. We only slept over, but for people who come to visit the "Kom" it is an affordable and central guest house.
The guest house is very neat and well furnished. It is not very spacious, but the owner, Andre, is extremely hospitable and helpful. We had to take my seven-year-old son with us at the last minute, and he was very accommodating and helpful.
