83 guests' feedbackAmazing! Dogs loved it and so did we.
It was such a lovely, relaxing getaway with our two dogs. We went there to get away from the hustle, and it did wonders! The sound of wind through the trees, fire crackling in the fireplace, and different bird sounds (other than always hearing a hadeda) LOL! was indeed tranquility!
Always good at Saamrus. They are quick and nimble where help is needed!
It was our third time at Saamrus together with our children, Sebastiaan the lab and Lily the beagle. We stayed in Akasia and as always enjoyed it very much. The dogs were in dog heaven with all the nice hiking trails and options. The person on duty came out specially on Sunday evening to show the city lads how the gas stove works. It was also clear that they had made an effort to better mark one of the walking routes after a previous visit and we got a bit lost because the arrows were not clear. Your service is excellent and Saamrus will definitely see us again! One of the best pet friendly places nice and close to Pta.
Fantastic service. The unit has everything needed! Comfortably furnished.
Very nice stay, thank you. So peaceful and quiet. The evenings are particularly quiet. It's been years since I slept so well with all the fresh air. So nice that you can bring the dogs along and go on walks with them.
Fabulous pet friendly accommodation. Love that you planted rosemary and lavender in the garden. We used it as extra protection for our dog against the ticks. The host was also very kind and super helpful. Thank you for a fantastic stay!
We had a wonderful rest at Saamrus. The large patio was a highlight. We enjoyed the walking trails, although the longer trails were quite overgrown. The cottage is comfortable, clean and well equipped.
Of the 3 places we have stayed, Saamrus Guest Farm is definitely the best. Recommendation: Time to purchase new bedding. It is clean, but worn. Everything you need is available.
Peaceful getaway with family. A bonus that your dog can go along.
Lovely setting and comfortable.
We have been multiple times to Saamrus Guest Farm with our dogs. We always feel so far removed from the busyness of the city, and feel recharged when we leave.
We had a lovely stay - thank you.
On arrival we were kindly welcomed by Vincent and at the small shop we were able to find wood and also lighters that we had forgotten at home. Bird lovers will be delighted with the variety of birds. Several hiking trails quickly lead you to beautiful views. The rondavel is spacious, tidy and well equipped with everything you need. Everything worked perfectly. Outside is clean, tidy braai facilities and a table and chairs. It is also definitely a pet and child friendly place to visit. I would heartily recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the city noise for a bit, without sacrificing comfort.
See stars.
This is the 3rd time we have stayed in Hoep-Hoep guest house and plan to go again. The house is very neat with all the amenities that are needed. It is a very safe environment and we really enjoy the walking trails. Thank you very much for allowing us to relax there.
Great place to escape the city and enjoy nature. The accommodation was neat with everything you need. Our dog children were very nicely welcomed with a full water bowl waiting for them on our arrival. The bath is luxurious! Will definitely be back.
Fantastic place to switch off. View beautiful, ideal for a dog child.
Thank you very much for a wonderful week of peace and quiet with my wife, in-laws and dogs. We will visit again. Many thanks for the friendly and helpful owners and staff.
A lovely, safe, clean and beautiful accommodation, and it's pet-friendly too.
Have to tell vacationers to take things for flies or owners to put down flycatchers.
Very nice stay, but didn't realize the road to the cottage is actually for 4x4. Also, someone with children will not enjoy staying there because there is no play area.
It's very cosy, you're allowed to take your dogs with as there is secure fencing around the units and walking trails. Overall was relaxing but they could do more to work on the number of flies from the chicken farm next door, which is a bit off-putting.
Peaceful. Unit is very cold. The 2 ridgebacks were quite intimidating on arrival.
Cannot complain about the rondavels, it was better than in the photos. Just the road is very difficult.
There are two different units, that you keep mixing up in the photos.
We had a wonderful stay.
Upon arrival, everything was ready. Piet my Vrou was our home, clean and very private. Thanks for the fresh flowers. The bedding and linen are of good quality and neat. The trail walks are very well marked.
Hikes for hours. Enjoyed the sunrises and the time away. Was a great experience.
Ideal for a weekend away away from everyone. Take your 4x4 or high clearance vehicle with you, don't forget the dog kids, the place really caters for them.
My two dogs and I went to Saamrus again for the long weekend. Hoep-Hoep is well equipped and is beautiful. The birds were plentiful and sang nicely around the house. The hiking trails were comfortable to walk along the river and it's incredibly beautiful. The workers are always friendly and willing to help. Thank you very much Saamrus for a nice short break!
We had a wonderful rest in the beautiful nature and surroundings. The accommodation was well appointed with everything we needed. Quiet and peaceful food for the soul. Would recommend Saamrus and will definitely go there again.
What a beautiful place to get away for a little while. Thank you.
One small negative, we stayed in Karee, and the fridge in that unit needs replacing, firstly the door doesn't stay closed and it makes a lot of noise, which impacts the ability to sleep.
Lovely getaway to spend quality time with your spouse/loved one.
It's quiet, peaceful and private. With hospitable staff. Wood and other essential products available on the farm. Close enough to area attractions. We really enjoyed our visit.
A wonderful 2 day break!
It was great to just rest together! The house was clean and tidy, well equipped with everything you need. Suggestion is to perhaps install a gas geyser, the bath takes a lot of water to fill up.
We had a great time with our 3 crazy kids. The rondavel was particularly well equipped and everything was clean and tidy. The enclosure around the rondavel is definitely a good asset as our animal children could move around safely outside. We walked a bit (despite the wet weather) and really enjoyed it. We will definitely visit again!
Everything was clean and tidy. The path up is only accessible with a 4x4 which we did not know, but there was parking available and porters to help take your luggage up, so only a minor inconvenience. Also there were some wild mice that scurried around and one even bit me as I was sleeping when I pushed my arm under the pillow. Gave me a bit of a fright and woke me up, but it's rather funny in hindsight.
The Piet-my-vrou cottage that we stayed in had everything we needed and we could have stayed there a month if we wanted. We could really relax and recharge. The walking trails were also really nice. Kettle doesn't work.
We were pleasantly surprised by the location, the 4x4 path up to the cottage and many other things. The cottage is perfect, the fireplace, porch and braai area and the large bath. Love the place, very private and we will return for sure.
My teenage daughter, our two dogs and I had a very peaceful and relaxing stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and proactively investigated a veld fire on adjacent farm to ensure our safety. Cottage was wel equipped with additional blankets specially prepared for use at the campfire. We slept warmly in spite of the cold nights thanks to a fireplace and electric blankets.
We were warmly received on Wednesday afternoon, with special assistance on a muddy road nearby (incorrect road selected in error thanks to Garmin). The accommodation was perfect for an effortless self-catering stay. Location is tranquil and we really enjoyed the peace of nature. We will definitely return with our dogs - really well set up as pet-friendly.
Was nice but the place needs some attention, more or better lighting, a repaint etc.
Would just like to ask about it being a pet friendly place, that they please. the units must suction and not just sweep. Enjoyed it, thanks.
Akasia Huisie is definitely not intended for over 60s. Since we don't have a 4x4 vehicle, it was really difficult to walk back and forth. One of us had a bad fall in the rocky garden and we had a bad scare because we couldn't help each other up and because our car was parked below. It was a truly unpleasant experience. A railing there will have to be installed as one can fall badly there. Could you please mention the gradient especially for elderly people and recommend that a 4x4 vehicle is a recommendation. I also recommend making a plan with the decoders. Acquire some and lend them to the residents at cost. You just want to be calm and some of us wanted to watch the rugby match.
It's a very nice and peaceful place with nice walking routes and neat. Everything you need in a cottage. There are only a few things that bothered. Didn't know only 4x4 cars could go to the upper houses. Luckily we have a bigger car and were able to drive up. But it shook so much that my 3-month-old baby and I ran up instead. Our luggage in the cart they must have brought up with a motorcycle thing. There are very many flies in the house. It is fenced for your dog, but there are only stones and dirt, so not very easy for the dogs to walk around the yard.
Suikerbos has a nice view, patio and firepit. Unfortunately the interior is far below par. In serious need of tlc. Walls (painting) and electric wiring needs attention.
We had a lovely peaceful weekend at Saamrus with our dogs. It's not too far from Johannesburg, so you don't sit in the car for hours. Accommodation is compact, well equipped, clean and tidy - everything one needs. We really enjoyed it and will go back for sure.
We were both very tired and lazed at the cottage. We made food, read and slept and soaked up the beauty of nature. I went for a walk and photographed a lot of wild flowers in the fields adjacent to the cottage. On the whole the venue is very well organised and we were left in peace. The only thing I would like to recommend, is to provide thinner bedding for the summer months or alternatively to take cool bedding along yourself. We did and that was very useful, as it was very warm.
The weekend at Saamrus was absolutely wonderful. We really enjoyed the tranquility and walking trails with the dogs. The dog children were in their element. The house has everything you need, it's clean and well furnished. Thank you very much!
The hiking trails are very cute and several hiking trails to choose from. They also provide a map of all the hiking trails. Water basins are placed at your place of residence and so is the pool. Very quiet and quiet place and very neat. The dog kids enjoyed it so much. Would like to make the following suggestions if possible. Place a trash can at the pool and also a braai or 2 at the pool. Ice cream on site, so more candy or something to snack on. Once you're there, you're not in the mood to drive to the store.
We had a wonderful stay at Saamrus for a weekend. The little house is perfect equipped with a beautiful view over the valley. There are wonderful walks up a hill, through the forest or winding next to the river - perfect for an outing with the doggies. This is the perfect relaxing, close to home, get away.
We stayed in Olienhout. The wind blew quite a lot, so right through the night the hanging wooden poles of the outside carport kept on hitting on the wooden poles of the carport around the sides so we were constantly awake with the banging.
Saamrus is a beautiful and peaceful guest farm. The Piet-my-Vrou house was neatly and completely adequately furnished. It is clear that the owners put effort into the cottages. Although we did not take pets with us, it was clear to us that owners and pets can spend wonderful times together there. We had a very nice break there and will definitely go there again.
We really enjoyed it. The fact that it is brat friendly is a bonus. It was lovely to be in nature.
Saamrus Guest Farm is the ideal getaway with your partner. The cottages are neat and fully equipped. The silence and view make the location a real break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If you need time alone with your partner this is the ideal place to just spend time together again. Even families can travel here to spend quality time together. Although the accommodation is a bit more on the expensive side, it is worth it. The location is also not far from Johannesburg and Pretoria - just about an hour's drive. Have a nice rest together at Saamrus Guest Farm.
We had a great time, and it was important to me that our dogs could explore the world safely, get exercise and also rest well. The hiking trails were absolutely the highlight! There are a variety of routes that offer the most beautiful views and the paths were well visible. Saamrus is really excellently designed for dogs. The bedrooms were a bit small and the Suikerbos cottage doesn't actually sleep six adults comfortably, but everything was nice and clean and the kitchen was surprisingly well equipped. I know the Magalies area is struggling with an excess of flies this year, but this was particularly bad. That would be the one thing that would keep me from coming again, although Saamrus really put a lot of effort into making it bearable (people coming every day to spray, fly swatters, incense, poison, flytraps, etc.), and it seems ' is a seasonal problem. Thank you for a nice holiday!
Privacy, tranquility and hiking or walking opportunities.
Neat and very peaceful bush getaway.
They just need to connect with people and if the house is on a mountain, recommend people to use a van or 4x4. We had to walk up the mountain to the highest house. We went home later to collect our Fortuner because we didn't have a chance to take everything down. The cottage is super comfortable for a forest break and has everything. Places are nice clean and very private. Didn't feel scared at all and everything was very peaceful. You can only take your clothes and food with you, everything is in the houses.
Suggest that the management spend funds in their DStv's upgrade so that visitors can bring their own "Explorer Decoder". Current connections only work for the very old decoders. Pool also needs some attention. Furthermore, the stay was enjoyable and we could rest and keep the pets busy with all the hiking trails and open fields. This was my third visit and will come again.
See stars.
Hoehoep is a wonderful little hole in a fairy tale world. Forest, river, winding walkways make for a great getaway.
The location was not too far for a short getaway. My dogs enjoyed it very much. I think they would like to stay there. However, it was a bit noisy with the noise of, I think, a chicken farm and the road to Rustenburg. I suppose we heard it more because we were so high. Nevertheless, it was great. My husband went cycling on other roads and I could just sit and take nature in with a paintbrush. There was a tick or two on the dogs, so I would recommend that owners follow up and wash and dip their pets when they get home.
Lovely place for a weekend getaway! Beautiful surroundings and birds singing loudly.
Wonderful. Stayed in Karee. Neat and clean. Was able to brave the steep road without a 4x4, though would recommend a vehicle with higher clearance and strong enjin! The fireplace and cement bath was so romantic! Went walking with our 4 legged children. The setup was ideal for dogs. Drinking water was supplied for them, even a poop scoop. Would recommend to any couple of family seeking a breakaway with their furry friends. My husband unfortunately lost his wedding ring in the bush! We suspect it might be in, or just outside the premises of Karee Huisie. We would appreciate it so much if other guests could possibly return it to the owners, Chris or Annetjie, we even offer a reward. It's so sentimental for us. Thank you!
One complaint: the shower and basin's drain was blocked the whole weekend, even though the staff looked at it upon our request.
Great, geen klagtes behalwe dat mense van agter die berg droë hout kom afbreek van bome af naby ons rondawel wat ons bietjie onverwags gevang het. Die mense wat daar werk is baie gaaf. Mooi uitsig.
We stayed wonderfully, our only suggestion would be to replace the queen bed/matres in the main bedroom in Suikerbos.
The rondavels are well equipped. It was neat and clean and well maintained. It's practically furnished. And the staff was very friendly.
Highly recommended if you need a total break from the city rat race. Great walking trails for everyone and my dogs loved it as well.
Nice! Just take along your own wood.
The cottages on the hill can only be reached by foot or 4x4. After the somewhat wild ride to Olienhout, our four-legged friends were welcomed with a large bowl of water and the stoepie is a cool place with a breathtaking view. Here on the hill you can imagine you are alone in the forest. After a nice hiking trail, cooling off in the pool is heavenly. There is room for the dogs to wait in the cool and nice space to walk around the swimming area. The cottage is well furnished with everything you need. Candles and a fireplace for the winter create a romantic atmosphere. In the summer, mosquitoes and flies can be troublesome, so take poison with you. There is a small kiosk where you can get wood and some refreshments as well as much needed tick stuff for the animals. A nice carefree weekend get away type place.
We took the whole bunch - kids and dogs - an we couln't have asked for a better experience! The farmhouse was wonderful - even though it was rainy we had a ball! We will definitely be back soon.
Very nice accommodation, and quietly located outside the city.
Saamrus is what its name says: "Here we will rest together". It was wonderful to just take in the peaceful surroundings. The hiking trails were not too difficult. The accommodation was clean and very well furnished. Would recommend anytime and will definitely visit again.
We were really impressed. Everything was perfect! Only thing I can say is that there should be a little more hot water, especially in such a large bath on a romantic getaway in the cold.
