82 guests' feedbackIt was lovely - peaceful and quiet. A special arrangement was made for us to leave at 5 am too. The only issue we had was the sharp turn from the highway into the venue with other cars speeding past. Take caution when entering the venue - not much the owners can do though!
Thank you for your hospitality.
Great overnight homes.
Fabulous, and Pumlani cooked my steak perfectly!
Thank you very much for your hospitality.
What we required for our stay.
Unexpectedly pleasant. Very good service.
We had a great stay and the people were friendly and helpful. We had a small dog with us and had the detached room which worked very nicely for us with her. Will stay there again on the way to Cape or back to Pretoria. Thank you very much.
Lovely accommodation with friendly accommodating staff!
We had a very nice stay. They are very hospitable and happy to help with requests. Will definitely stay there again!
Everything about the place is very nice except you need to be a deep sleeper or have earplugs. It is situated right on the N1 so the trucks flying past at high speed all night kept us awake. The lighting in the rondawel was very low, so it is a problem in the bathroom to brush one's hair and apply makeup or shave.
A bit close to the road, vehicles make noise right through the night, find it a bit difficult to sleep.
Great stay over when travelling, will definitely recommend it.
The accommodation was comfortable and we enjoyed the farm atmosphere.
Great cottage and the food was good.
Yes, thank you very much, it was nice, maybe just too close to the highway. Trucks bother.
Just off the N1, very convenient. Not 5 star, but a nice warm bed and just right for a long road sleepover.
This stay was average and not as advertised. When we arrived, the host was nowhere to be seen, but someone else assisted us nicely. There's no two-plate stove in the unit, meaning you'd only have to attempt cooking with the microwave if you had to (it's advertised as a self-catering unit). The kettle did not work and turned itself off when it got hot, before boiling.
The room on arrival just smelled like wet grass, stuffy under thatch. No one in reception to get; I had to go and find someone. It seemed that the receptionist was chief cook and bottle washer, but very pleasant and tried to please. He was an excellent cook. Too right on N1 truck noise all night.
Take it all together! As most reviews say, it's up the road, it's dirty and not as advertised. Place's name has changed with owner, so it is confusing to find on the GPS. Looks like the place has been bought, beds and linen replaced, and thus left in incompetent hands. Very sad. Has a lot of potential.
The lady was very kind who helped and she made an effort. Will sleep there again, thanks.
Very friendly host. Neat place and very clean. Will definitely stay there again.
The linen and towelling are amazing. Such a simple, but comfortable place to stay.
Nice and tidy place right next to the N1, which was perfect to get back on the road early in the morning. The dog could walk comfortably in the garden. Perfect place to stay for a half way stop.
What a delightful surprise it was to discover an overnight facility right here on the N1, which immediately makes you forget about the long hours already on the road. The rooms are well furnished, neat, clean and with all the necessary equipment you will need to spend the night here. The management is friendly, helpful and just popped in twice to make sure we were comfortable. The N1 traffic is indeed busy, but with a little imagination you can imagine it is the ocean's waves breaking on your doorstep. Always make the most of your trip!
Ideally located, very comfortable, my dog and cats enjoyed the one night stay. I will definitely advise staying there.
Nice place with a pool.
Thank you for hosting us. We were blown away by the comfort level.
Very friendly reception and welcome.
It is affordable and simple. We traveled with 2 dogs, and is a nice place to stay for one night. Is terribly cold in winter. The people there are friendly, and that makes it all worthwhile.
Safari Park Guest Farm was very neat and helpful. Note that the guest house is located about 24 km outside Colesberg, out on the N1 on the way to Cape Town. The owner provided a light dinner at a reasonable price otherwise we would have had to drive back to Colesberg for dinner. The rooms are located close to the N1 which was disturbing for me, because the road's noise. Otherwise very neat and with safe parking.
Amazing! From driving in I received a warm welcome. Employees are friendly, kind and always there to assist and make sure you are more than satisfied. It's tranquil, quiet, peaceful and nature all around you.
Very neat place and I would recommend it. Please take note that there is no private braai, only a communal one. And it's 35km from Colesberg so if you're traveling from JHB, make sure you get everything you need on the way there.
Amazing, quiet, tranquil place to stay. You feel so safe, and there is a swimming pool.
Would be nice if there was a braai outside the chalet. Maybe a couple of sheep and springbok for kids to see and atmosphere.
Right next to the N1, so it's a bit noisy. My husband and I sleep with a fan on and with loadshedding it goes off. A suggestion to the owners is to consider a generator or solar power. Water pressure in the shower was low at one point.
Overall a well equipped sleeping unit. Just too cold for minus 4 temperature. No hot water in the morning. One side of the electric blanket didn't work, feedback to complaint: Are you sure it's plugged in? No milk, cows must have frozen. They need to look at wiring to TV, too close to the fireplace. The multi-plugs should also be looked at at TV. I'm sure it will be nicer there in slightly warmer days.
Great pet fiendly place.
We were asked if we didn't want to stay in the cottage as it was bigger. I didn't want to, but my wife did. The original house was very clean and tidy. The cottage was dirty and full of dust. Bedding was not cleanly covered! Would recommend for overnight stay. We were not well received.
Nice clean and tidy everything you need, beautiful good quality linen and towels. No tea, coffee and 4 sugar, 3 powdered milk. I booked Kapok (didn't sleep in that unit) because my husband has to go for a hip replacement so he doesn't have to walk far, and our vehicle can park next to the cabin.
Poorly marked from the N1.
Not happy at all as we never got the augar or coffee or toilet paper place is dirty towels dirty totally not happy been there before and it was not like that we asked the lady at the ahop how many times for sugar and coffe still waiting for it.
1. The unit is not accessible at all (we could not take my trailer to the accommodation) and had to leave the trailer about 1 km from the accommodation. 2. There is no hand sink in the unit, which means you brush your teeth and shave in the kitchen sink. 3. The unit has no mirror and cannot use a hair dryer. 4. From the car to the unit it is extremely difficult to carry luggage up and down. 5. The unit's walls are not tight and wind can enter everywhere. 6. No fridge/microwave oven is available. 7. No access to internet from the unit. This is one of the worst overnight stays we have ever visited.
Had a great time and my dogs were so at home.
Drove from Plett, lit a nice fire, had a nice quiet evening. Their dogs are beautiful!
We were just afraid to let our dogs outside to do their toilet because of a Rottweiler that was roaming around freely.
Nice, clean, safe and tidy place to sleep right on the main road!
Very nice stay even if it was only for one night.
Our 3 miniature doberman pinchers loved the floors and moved around comfortably.
Very nice and clean. Will go back again.
Cozy cottage but very noisy due to trucks passing.
Halfway Jhb to CPT, 30 km south of Colesberg. Modern, tasteful interior decoration, liked rustic-modern juxtaposition. Very spacious for two. Most everything you need, maybe two comfy chairs perhaps. Comfortable bed, good shower. Lovely farm atmosphere, perfect Karoo air. Noise from close by N1 traffic was a problem for us.
Clean and conveniently located next to the highway. Although there is a braai area, it would be convenient if a small braai was placed in front of the room. Would also suggest hanging a curtain on the front door to block the morning sun.
The location can be more clearly indicated (20km) from Colesberg. Fireplace wood can be scrapped. Attention can be given to entrance's appearance. Otherwise value for money.
The place's maintenance of the buildings could improve.
N1 within 100 metres. Traffic noise audible, however not disturbing of sleep.
Very nice clean and tidy chalet. Unbelievably a lot of road noise, as it is located right on the main road. We had no electricity, so everyone had to quickly jump in the shower when we got there, not sure if we would have hot water later.
As above. They need to look at the power situation.
Very comfortable and nice halfway to our destination. Nice people and accept pets. Lovely fireplace. Hot shower. But the road noise from the N1 which is only 100 m away was too bad. I could barely sleep.
The rondavel had many cobwebs in cupboards under sink. The thatched roof inside needs a cleaning. Mentioned there is a braai pan I had to ask for 1. It is 25 km out of town could not go out to eat. Very inconvenient. The windows also very dirty.
Neat room and bathroom with good linen. Accident on the N1, and road noise is very disturbing. Definitely 'self care', so just take soap and shampoo with you, as well as anything else you'll need - it's 20 km out of town, so you can't walk over to a restaurant to eat something.
Neat, clean and perfect for an overnight stay.
Very neat and beautiful units.
Had a friendly reception, the place was big and clean with everything you need for a peaceful evening.
Good service and good location.
On our return trip home we sat outside and had a drink, be sure to have Peaceful sleep or some sort of mosquito repellant on. Small mosquitos had a field time. Everything was arranged telephonically en route even though we arrived outside of open time.
Just 1 issue of having other dogs not on a leash.
The two chalets are very neat and clean. The site is very neglected and the paddock of years ago is now a white elephant, but this could be a gold mine for the owner. The site just needs some attention. A pair of large pruning shears and a few buckets of paint. The N1 was a bit of a problem, that's why the tents of old, on the other side of the N1, were a winner. . If you just want to sleep and then drive on again, that's fine.
Fits perfectly in the nature and Karoo environment. Looks like a house from Flintstones. On top of everything, they are pet-friendly, so you can bring your dog with you. Was so impressed just slept another night on the way back. Would definitely recommend!
See stars.
Located right next to the N1 so the noise and car lights are a bit disturbing. Very low WiFi signal/speed. We will only stay here again if there is no other accommodation available in town.
The power points didn't work, so didn't the fridge and take away food with it, couldn't charge our phones, couldn't make coffee when we hit 4a:00. Called the next morning and informed about our complaints. Still haven't received a response or an apology. Not cool at all.
Accommodation was neat enough for the price. Early morning had no water, had to call to pump water. Luckily after about 30 minutes we had water again. Security can be a risk, with no access control. Not very close to N1. Bathroom door is broken and difficult to close. Unfortunately, bathroom curtains are see-through in the evening.
The resort is badly neglected. Grass is unkempt and so are the buildings around. Don't know how to recommend the overnight accommodation. In the unit there is no table or chairs where one can sit down to eat. TV channels limited with no Afrikaans stations.
Garden is very unkempt, grass was long and bushes everywhere. Kitchen cabinets are moldy inside with bugs. Needs serious paint. Oven was dirty and could not be used. There were clothes in the closets and we couldn't hang our own clothes. There was no milk to make coffee and we had to drive 20 km to Colesberg for milk. Trash in bathroom was still full of trash from previous guests. Bedding and towels were fresh and clean.
Right next to the road, extremely friendly and helpful owners. Perfect for a stopover. Arrived late at night and left early the next morning while still dark so it was a very short stay. Had everything I needed, neat and tidy. Will use again.
This was a perfect spot for an overnight stay. Conveniently located close to the highway. The cottage was clean and spacious with plenty of room for the kids to unwind after a day in the car!
The tea towel was dirty and the braai area was dirty. Furthermore, an air-conditioner will help with the heat.
Very nice stay. Place still needs attention, but can still turn into a nice place. People are fixing it.
Linen and towels were clean, but house was dirty and trash not thrown out. No TV, glasses and cups were dirty. Shower very dirty and spout blocked with hair. Dogs could not leave home without a collar.
Very hot without air conditioning. No burglar bars in front of windows. Very close to N1, so safety is an issue. Braai area dirty and full of old cobwebs.
