Lovely stay! We loved every second! We went there quite late and the caretaker was very friendly and helpful. The next morning we went on the canoes (free of charge). The owner was very friendly and told us about spots to see that we didn't know about.

The staff and owner was so helpful and friendly. It was neat and clean. The lodge was perfectly located, close to the N2 and close to all shops, yet peaceful. We even got a few complimentary vouchers for activities in the area. All the windows opened up to a breathtaking view.

Had a stove which was great for us and a backup system, so loadshedding isn't a problem. There was also a pool table for some entertainment. It is great that loadshedding isn't a problem. And the pool table was an added bonus to blow off some steam after a long day of work.

Salt River Lodge is a place I would visit anytime again. We stayed in cottage 2, myself, my partner with another couple and we absolutely enjoyed our stay. The pool is right in front of the cottage, even though there were other guests in the other cottage we had our fair share of time to spend at the pool. No disturbances it was just a peaceful bliss. We went sight seeing, it's a minute or 2 minutes drive to the Waterfront where we went for supper on Friday night. We went for a boat ride on Saturday using the Featherbed Co, we had a braai the Saturday night. The gentleman were braaing while we were relaxing in the swimming pool just before sunset. I can go on and on about our stay lol but it's a place I would highly recommend. The cleaning services are very good, friendly people that comes and clean the cottages in the morning. I met the manager Mr. Appelgryn, lovely friendly man. The only thing I would change of the cottage is move the flat screen TV from the room to the lounge area and the old TV to the room because the old TV is very dark and no one watched TV in the room, maybe it will be more convenient if it's a couple alone that would want to lay and watch TV in the bedroom. To end off our stay we went to The Heads, and wow what an amazing view of Knysna. Salt River Lodge and Knysna is just beautiful!
The front of the lodge looked a bit off putting. But once I got to the back, I saw the awesome place to braai, the lekker pool and the fact that there is canoes to use in the river that leads to the ocean. Would definitely recommend as an amazing place.
Apartments have all the basic necessities. Good location, with nice view. Pet friendly and our 4 month old puppy was with us. Close to town and places to eat. We had a great stay, but bad weather limited our activities at the weekend.
We had a very nice stay, everything was tidy and the unit was cleaned daily. Unit also well equipped with everything we needed. All that can slightly bother is the traffic on the nearby N2's noise, but it did not affect us.
One of the single bed's mattress totally worn. Generally the rooms are below acceptable standard, not clean, not a place I would recommend.

All I regret is not staying at Salt River longer. This might just be one of the cutest places my travels have taken me. The house is very neatly and effectively laid out with everything a couple or even family could need. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room/TV room combination, as well as two bathrooms each equipped with a shower. The main bedroom has a double bed with en-suite bathroom and the second room has two single beds. The outside area is where people hang out and barbecue and exactly here is where the house got its coziness. The porch is covered with a 6 seater table. There is also a bar counter with 2 extra chairs (where one can very comfortably sit and read or use a laptop if you wish). It's about 5 m of lawn before you get to the swimming pool and on the grass is the accommodation's own braai which can easily be moved around as required. 10 m beyond the swimming pool you will find the lagoon which is perfectly rounded off with the beautiful mountains, trees and holiday homes in the background. We had a wonderful time on the veranda with the picture-perfect view before we finally said goodbye to the sun behind the mountains. I will definitely visit here again if I ever travel past Knysna's world again.
Comfortable accommodation, very tidy. Nice view of the lagoon and canoeing is available for paddling if it's high tide. Disadvantage is lack of privacy - busy street on side of site - it would be good to erect a wall there or plant plants that can ensure privacy from the street side.
Beautiful and neat little place inside with more than we expected. Outside it is so beautiful with a cute swimming pool with extras like the kids who ran around by the lake. Didn't know there were braai facilities, otherwise we would have had a braai night at the place.
The unit is neat and fairly well equipped. While in Knysna, there is a feeling that one is not in town. The location is good and offers easy access to all the routes needed to explore the area.
Accommodation was neat and clean, staff were friendly and helpful. The environment is peaceful and quiet and we had a great time, will definitely stay there again. Would have loved to stay longer and make a fire in the fireplace or go swimming in the summer and relax around the barbecue fires, but will definitely do it next time. Our weekend was just a bit full and way too short.

Right on Knysna lagoon. Nice and clean with swimming pool and braai facilities. Just didn't have hot water first night. There were too few cutlery and no bowl with a lid (so please provide more cutlery).
We were in one of the 2 smaller units, the bedroom with the double bed was very small but otherwise we had a nice stay. There was one chair missing from the dining room table. We saw very little of the manager, but the owner saw us for a short time each day.
Terrible. New crockery needed. Sofa has seen its best days.

We are very impressed with the location, neatness and privacy. Vincent and Joyce were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was nice and clean and child friendly seeing as you can almost see the pool from your rooms. The view from our room at the top was also very beautiful. The 2 bathrooms and 2 patios next to the bedrooms was convenient seeing as we were 2 families. Thank you for your friendly welcome, Appel, as well as advice and tips on popular places. The accommodation was a real surprise - neat and clean and well fitted out. The late arrival of noisy guests above our flat and the busy road lead to a night of very little sleep. This was a real pity as otherwise everything was perfect. I would however still gladly stay there again.

Fantastic and centrally located so close to many of the holiday activities. The accommodation is very practical as well as stylish and elegant. Nice view and even a canoe if you want to paddle around in the creek/river. Just don't get caught in the low tide. Service is great and fast as well as friendly. Would definitely stay there again and really recommend it to anyone. The price is also worth the money.

Pay attention to necessary cutlery and crockery for number of guests booked and cleanliness of braai area.
It had been very cold. There was plenty of warm bedding and a small oil heater. Pool was nice and clean as in picture above. The neighbors had a barbecue, which created a nice cozy atmosphere. The tide was very low so there was almost no water in the river.
The first morning two of the three of us had to shower with cold water as the "heat pump" was not switched on. When we returned to Salt River Lodge that evening, Knysna was shrouded in darkness... and there was no form of light in the unit. No emergency lights or candles. It was very inconvenient, and the owner should have thought of this. Power has not been with us since yesterday.
Clean, tidy accommodation. The apartment is well equipped, but I was a bit worried about my car standing in the street.

Our one-night stay at the Lodge was great value for money. Good location. We did some canoeing on the lagoon. I would recommend it for families but not for the traveller who wants a more quiet, relaxing stay as the sounds of your neighbours' playing pool or other games can be a bit disruptive.
The accommodation was neat and clean and the beds comfortable. This made a very good overnight stop on our trip up the Garden Route. The lodge is located just outside the town centre, and is very close to all amenities.
There is enough space and the Lodge is very safely located. It's not far from Knysna's Waterfront and for the walkers it's a peaceful and comfortable walk to town.
Good venue. Nicely cared for. Good price. I would recommend 4 adults and 2 children at most in Unit 2.

We would definitely book here again. The one thing that was a small problem, was that the reception is not marked, so was a bit frustrating to try and find. (For future guests: reception for Lagoon Lodge is just before you reach Salt River Lodge). After that, everything was fantastic!!
There was a bit of confusion with our booking, so thank goodness there was a unit available for the 2nd family - the reception lady was very vague about the bookings. However, the children enjoyed the setup and we found it very comfortable.
We were quite happy there, the maid was very helpful.
