San Lameer Villa 2502 is located in San Lameer Estate, located on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, this sub-tropical paradise with wildlife, fauna, flora and birds, has something to offer the whole family. The 200-hectare nature conservancy boasts an 18 hole championship golf course; a hotel with a spa, restaurant and bar; swimming pools and tennis courts; luxury villas and direct access onto 2 magnificent blue flag beaches.

The apartment can accommodate up to 4 adults and 1 child below the age 6 years and comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen and living area. The main bedroom contains a double bed. The second bedroom contains a tri-bunk bed, double at the bottom, and single at the top. The bathroom is fitted with a shower over bath, a toilet and a washbasin. Linen and bath towels are provided.

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and contains a stove, oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, and cutlery and crockery. For our guest's convenience, there is also a Dishwasher, Wash Machine and Tumble Dryer in the unit. The dining area has seating space for 4 people, while the lounge has comfy seating and a TV with streaming services. The living area opens up onto a patio area with braai facilities.

"Nice unit in San Lameer, but could do with revision."

The unit as a whole was not bad and we enjoyed it. The place was very quiet and we felt very safe at all times and slept peacefully in the evenings. There are a few things that I believe would have made our stay better and the owner could consider addressing these. Living room sofa is very uncomfortable. Fridge makes a lot of noise and is right next to TV. Maybe consider a service on the fridge. Kitchen could do with an overhead light, as the only light installed is located in the living room. To be able to cook in the evenings we had to use the extractor's light, which was not exactly ideal. It might be a good idea to leave some dishwasher tablets or soap for guests; it does not make sense for guests to go and buy a whole box of dishwasher soap for one or two uses. The dishwasher is there and regular dish soap is left for guests. A hanging hook for keys would also be a good update The upstairs wooden porch has collapsed and looks sloppy when sitting on the porch below as it is very visible. The general area around the unit is not properly kept clean or maintained. We understand this is not the owner's fault, but it can be taken up with San Lameer's management. There were many plastic bags and bottles scattered around the unit, possibly due to monkey activity. The communication between Top Destinations and San Lameer staff regarding access codes for guests was also very confusing. Top Destinations has indicated on our inquiries that we will receive access codes upon enquiry. San Lameer staff let us know that we had to contact the owner himself (directly) for access codes. We received codes in the end, but it seems as if there is miscommunication between the two institutions, which made things very uncertain for us as guests.

HOUSEKEEIPING:
Low Season: The villa is serviced on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays.
School holidays, Long weekends and Mid-season: Daily services, except Sundays, public holidays.
Guests need to provide their own beach towels.

South Africa is experiencing consistent load-shedding affecting all areas, including the South Coast. In the past, San Lameer has had occasions whereby the Eskom breakers in Marina Beach tripped and left the estate without power for a day. We are not able to predict these events and this is out of our control. Please come prepared. Beaches are influenced by weekly tests to determine if it is safe to swim or not and we can not guarantee that the beach will be open for swimming. The UGU Municipality does have seasonal problems with water supply in the South Coast, which might influence your stay. Although San Lameer has boreholes and reserve tanks, they are still reliant on the supply of the municipality. It is very important to note that we can't control or predict their water supply but will notify our guests should there be an expected problem. We can unfortunately not provide refunds on these instances, and advise guests to take the matter up with the related supplier of the service, or alternatively do not book the unit.
