The room and surroundings are very nice. The breakfast was very nice. Only attention can be paid to communication. You don't really know how things work. The first 2 days there was no buffet breakfast and no menu to show what we could order. The closet doors in the room have trouble opening and closing. The fridge was not clean and the door of the fridge would not close properly. There was no milk for the tea and coffee the first day. Although the people were very friendly, the service in the restaurant was very slow and unprofessional. One day a cleaner just opened the room door without knocking. Luckily I was polite, but it could have been embarrassing for both of us. It is a beautiful place with a lot of potential. I think that if attention can be paid to the above, I will be able to classify it as excellent.
Our room was not as booked. We booked a double bed and then we got 2 single beds. Then they moved us to another room which has a double bed but the room was not prepared for guests and was dirty and only had one towel for 2 people. Bedding was old and pillows very bad. There is also a lot of noise from vehicles during the night on the south side. The gardens are very beautiful. For me it is not value for money. I would rather add R300 and stay in a hotel near Sandton.
It was clean, comfortable and easy to find. Spacious, neat rooms. Delicious breakfast.
I would make use of this lodge again. I felt safe and secure. It was clean and pleasant. I just wish breakfast on the weekends would be extended as one doesn't want to get up so early! But the chef was willing to help us after ten which was awesome!
The staff are friendly and more than helpful and the atmosphere and appearance of the place is beautiful. However, in our room there were cupboards that really needed attention. In the very nice modern bathroom I felt the shiny new tiles could be dangerous if someone might get out of the shower with wet feet. There was also no handrail in the shower for older people. My elderly mother was with me and didn't see a chance to shower there at all. I brought this to management's attention and I'm sure if we come back they will have addressed this.
