SANParks Bontebok National Park

Sheltered by the rugged bastion of the Langeberg Mountains, and flanked by the tranquil Breede River, this remnant piece of the Cape Floral Kingdom saved the bontebok from extinction.
Accommodation is offered in fully equipped self-catering chalets at the Lang Elsies’ Kraal Rest Camp. The Rest Camp also has caravan and campsites with or without power, all of which have communal ablution facilities. The Lang Elsie's Kraal Rest Camp is named after the 'Hessekwa' Khoi Khoi chieftainess called 'Lang Elsie’, who lived there with her clan in the 18th century. The Rest Camp is set on the banks of the Breede River, and provides pristine scenery of the park, Breede River and Langeberg Mountains
Bontebok National Park is also great day-visitor location. Recently upgraded day-visitor facilities include a rest camp and recreational braai facility called ‘Die Stroom’. Enjoy a picnic on the banks of the Breede River, or braai at one of the designated braai spots, or Die Stroom function centre, also on the banks of the Breede.

17 guests' feedbackWell cared for. Hot water for coffee, microwave oven, stove, washing machine and cleanest bathrooms.
Just remember you have to pay SANParks entrance fees too on arrival. Cheaper for South African citizens though. But what a great bush experience. Bird and wild sightings were fab! Auctions and facilities are kept very neat and they have everything you need.
Clean, small campsite. The kitchen area has small stove tops, a microwave, hot water urns, and washing machines.
It's a nice location. The campsites are very close to each other, so not a lot of privacy.
Nature is lovely, sunsets special. Ablution facilities very neat and clean.
Good trip. We all enjoyed it.
Enjoyed it so much and will definitely be back, the bathrooms were so nice and clean the whole time, the campers were so friendly, swimming in the river was the highlight of everything, nice hiking trails, and looking at the stars at night was magnificent, will definitely bring my binoculars with next time, wonderful birdlife, and nature.
Excellent overall, good value and well maintained. Thanks.
We spent 2 nights in Bontebok, the park is beautiful and we saw a few bontebok, mountain zebra and lots of different birds, we enjoyed the walking trails and it was a good relaxing stay.
Will definitely want to go again.
We enjoy visiting SANParks. The people are friendly and all the facilities are spotless. The accommodation also offers everything one needs. Will definitely visit again.
We had a great stay, neat and clean place and peaceful. Will go again.
I really enjoyed my overnight stay in this scenic, quiet and very well maintained park.
Was very nice, everything beautifully clean. And hot water on tap.
Was very nice. Only road directions to the campsite which are not very clear, but was an amazing experience. Thank you.
The park is beautiful as usual and we enjoyed the time. Unfortunately, the Sanparks staff could not find our LekkeSlaap reservation on their system. We had to help them finally locate the LekkeSlaap reference number in the 'party names' field in their database. Furthermore, there were constant short-circuits in the house when the power went out. We had to turn off the geyser at the control panel so we could keep the fridge and lights on - cold showers for us and the kids had to bathe in a basin. The two plate stove constantly shocked me while trying to cook. The two-panel stove almost touches the blinds - a fire hazard. The people in the house next door made noise and played loud music all night. We would go back again, but would rather camp - the chalets are not worth the money.
Campground by the river has no ablution facilities nearby, and it doesn't look like it does on the website either. No green grass and almost no trees either. Be careful to believe what you see on the website.
