The SANParks Cape Point Rest Camp is located in the Table Mountain National Park. The Table Mountain National Park is a natural world heritage site, and Natural New 7 Wonder of the World, is a haven of magnificent mountains plunging into crystal seas fringed with bleached white sands of the Cape Peninsula.

At the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, vast tracts of fragrant fynbos combined with a plethora of stunning beaches and bays make each visit to this unspoiled area a constant delight. In this section of the Table Mountain National Park you can see a variety of buck and other mammals such as chacma baboons as well as reptiles and birds, including the flightless ostrich. You can also dive, picnic and hike to your heart’s content.

Visitors can catch the Flying Dutchman funicular ride to the top of the Point to see the original Cape Point lighthouse. While you are in the area the Buffelsfontein Visitor Centre is an absolute must as it showcases all the plants and animals to look out for in a particular season.

Please note: From 1 September 2017 all visitors over 18 years old will be required to produce an identity document, passport or alternative valid identification e.g. driver’s licence card for scanning upon entering/exiting the Parks.
A standard daily conservation fee of R360 for foreign visitors, R180 for SADC nationals with a valid passport, and R90 for South African Citizens and Residents with ID, will be required on entry to the park.

We ask that all guests manage their activities to retain the quiet and peaceful ambience of the site and the Park.
Although a cleaning service is provided, we ask guests to respect the environment, keep the site clean and wash their own dishes.
Baboons frequent the area and can be dangerous. Baboons should not be fed or disturbed in any way .Please keep all doors and windows closed for your own safety.
There is no security guard patrolling this site at night.
If any abuse or deliberate damage of SANParks property occurs the client will be expected to pay for the losses.
Check-in time for accommodation is from 14h00 to 17h00 in winter (Apr to Sept) and 14h00 to 18h00 in summer (Oct to March) and accommodation must please be vacated before 10h00. Keys to be handed in at the Buffelsfontein visitor Centre on day of departure by 10h30.
Keys to be collected at the Buffelsfontein Visitor’s Centre before 17h00 in winter and 18h00 in summer on day of arrival. You will be asked to produce proof of reservation prior to the keys being handed over. Please have this available to hand over on request.
No late entry/ check in after the park operating hours. Should you arrive after the closure of the check in time as listed above you will be obliged to find accommodation elsewhere and will not be entitled to a refund.
All members of the party need to arrive at the same time.
No guests will be allowed to drive through the park after sunset.
No day visitors / guests are allowed at any of the accommodation.
All Guests are required to pay a daily conservation fee, per person, per day for the whole duration of their stay. If you have a valid Wild Card the persons that are loaded onto the Wild Card as members do not have to pay the daily conservation fees. Please note that the My Green Card cannot be used in lieu of daily conservation fees when using Table Mountain National Park accommodation.
Alcohol Consumption is at your own discretion; however disorderly behaviour will not be tolerated.
Loud music and parties are not permitted. The area is within a National Park and there are wild animals and other visitors to consider.

The use of drones inside (and over) our national parks is strictly prohibited.
No smoking is allowed inside the accommodation.
Remember, by feeding any wildlife you are signing their death warrant, as they become aggressive.
As outdoor lighting in camps is limited, a torch/headlamp is required when walking outside at night.
Pets are not allowed in a National Park.

Description

Olifantsbos is a magnificent isolated cottage, situated right on its own beach in the heart of the Cape of Good Hope section of the Park. The main cottage sleeps 6, and there is an adjoining annex that sleeps a further 6 guests. The cottage does not have electricity. The cottage contains 3 bedrooms; the first bedroom contains a double bed and the second and third bedrooms each contain 2 single beds. The cottage bathroom contains a shower, a bath, a toilet and a washbasin, and has a gas-fuelled geyser. The annex contains 4 single beds and a bunk bed, and its own bathroom with a shower, a toilet and washbasin. The cottage kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering with a gas stove, gas fridge-freezer, gas lighting, cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils, and a breakfast bar with stools. The open-plan lounge and dining area features a cosy fireplace. There is generous patio and braai area with a boardwalk leading to the beach. Wood is not sold on-site.
