49 guests' feedbackVery nice, incredible view.
It was fantastic, beautiful location, shady and sheltered and right at the foot of the mountains.
Amazing as always! It's a highlight every year to go back for a nice camp. Always tidy and everyone is friendly.
See stars.
Very nicely located between the mountains. Waterfall with a deep swimming hole on site. It's close enough to Clarens. Two routes Oribi and Blesbok to drive with very nice vantage points and wildlife to view. Temperature was moderately cool in the morning in the rondavel. Rondavels were clean and tidy and well equipped.
The campsite is nice, but needs some work. The people around the campsite were making a lot of noise, disturbing the silence.
Nice stay. Everything was neat and clean and everything worked properly.
We arrived there only after office hours. Then we struggled to pick up our key because the security wasn't on duty yet. The room was clean and tidy, and the fridge did not work well.
Beautiful view in nature. Baboons were very troublesome and at night foxes lurked for us. Sorry, traffic was heavy. Visitors at chalets were very loud with music and shouting.
Staff were unorganised and not very friendly. We arrange for an early book-in with was approved yet they were not ready for us to book in upon arrival.
They allow people to play music and party hard until almost 5 in the morning. So you don't get the best night's rest.
The campsite is satisfactory; however, it may not be the optimal location for relaxation due to its proximity to a public road. Additionally, I observed several maintenance issues, such as non-functioning ground lights.
Primitive equipment. We were allocated a different unit than what was booked. Refrigerator broken.
It was an incredibly beautiful environment and campsite. We were pleasantly surprised.
Very good place to rest, hiking trails in mountains are very well maintained. Fireman's chain on mountain may need to be checked, there is a loose pole that can become dangerous.
Beautiful location, easy accessible. Campsite was nice. Not too big, enough privacy.
The campsite and ablution blocks are very neat and clean. The walking routes' degree of difficulty is not indicated, which can lead to unpleasant surprises. The Wodehouse Peak is indicated as 4 hours, but in reality it is 7-8 hours with a degree of difficulty that does not suit inexperienced or unfit walkers. The routes' supporting wooden beams (steps), safety devices/chains were burnt away in places and never replaced. This causes a risk of falling, Wodehouse is particularly a risk when descending. We were not informed about this upon reception. Directions along the hiking trails could improve. Good security, would definitely recommend the campsite and scenery. The uppercuts make it interesting! Just take your own ice or visit Clarens.
But I would just say the people were very friendly and helped us to our camp with good service, then we upgraded to a chalet, very very clean. The TV only has a few channels and no remote, and it's as if the people who work there are also on vacation. The campsite could really do with a little more effort, in terms of maintenance, looking after gardens is no longer a worry. Very nice environment.
Would like to rent a house because it rained so badly. Unaffordably expensive. No people in the chalets. I think they could have at least made money charging an off-season rate. If it was also R700 or R800 per night, we would have stayed. We drove home because it was unpleasant.
The people are extremely friendly and everything was very neat. We felt safe and appreciated the staff coming around and asking if everything is good. The nature is beautiful and we were able to see a lot of different bird species and wild animals. We will be going back next year and making our visit to Glen Reenen as an annual getaway. It was perfect and very worth it. Thank you, your help and services are appreciated.
Shop closed for 2 days due to network problems. Had to drive to Clarens.
Campsites very uneven for caravans and tents. Other than that, no complaints.
There was no hot water available. No microwave to warm up food, although it's self-catering.
Was privileged to experience Golden Gate in full glory. Full of rivers, beautiful waterfalls and grassy green meadows. Resort neat and clean. Will definitely come back again.
Great camping, lots of walking. Lots to do and see.
We were greeted kindly at reception, rooms were nice and warm, our house was cleaned every day.
Very nice stay.
However, unfortunately we had a problem with water availability. Had no water in our cottage both mornings causing us to be unable to shower/toilet. However, water was brought in and by truck, but we had to wait for a long time both mornings before water was available. Apart from the water problem, however, we had a very nice stay and will definitely go again in the future.
Clean comfortable cottage, well equipped. The general maintenance of the park could be better and security where your cars are parked. No fence or gate.
Value for money. Would recommend to anyone.
Everything was nice and clean! Hiking trails and the environment very beautiful! Only the music of the taxis transporting staff and dropping off workers was very loud early in the morning.
The campsite appears as a campsite mainly for hikers. Campers are pleasant chatty people!
The setting, the trails and the accommodation is great. Trying to book accommodation is a nightmare, I have never struggled to book accommodation as much as this. It left me so frustrated that I will not book here again unless I hear that it has improved.
Will definitely come again. Stayed well. Beds and bedding were good. Love the electric blankets. We stayed in rondavel no. 11, the path from vehicle to rondavel has no lighting, it was very difficult to walk there at night if you have to collect something in the vehicle or just be outside if you look at stars and then walk back. The path winds and you can't see anything. Not nice to walk like that. The path lights that are there did not burn. Cafe may keep more variety of stock for daily use. Otherwise as good. Will definitely come again!
Everything was 100% ok but they couldn't find our key initially because we booked through website it wasn't under our name and it caused confusion. Furthermore, it is a very beautiful and tidy place.
Beautiful nature. A nice place and scenery. Campsite needs attention with cleaning, maintenance and cleanliness. Staff sit in the storage room all day and do nothing. The laundry room is used by staff laundry and their friends. Then have no access.
When construction is going on at a campsite, the campers booking must be told that they are building and the campsite will be disturbed as a result of the operation. The bathrooms' showers were all blocked and the water was running out of the bathroom doors.
Luckily our reservation was 55% less, receptionist was very helpful. Arrival at campsite was first come first serve, there were no power points, the road is next to the campsite and there were cars going back and forth until late at night, no "close to nature" as promised. Even people who visited the parking area in the midnight hour, staff visited the reception from before 7:00 in the morning and there was no rest. The store also had less than the essentials.
Glen Reenen is very beautiful and well equipped. We had everything we needed, we just had to buy wood ourselves for the fireplace, which is now very important.
Breathtaking scenery.
It is important that people are informed of the additional fee. This amounts to R53 per person per day extra. We were 4 and that's an amount to take into account when working with a budget. SANParks did not have our reservation on their system. Fortunately, the park was not full and we were helped immediately. Despite that they are building near the campsite, it didn't bother us. We were busy all day and every day with everything the environment has to offer. All we can complain about now is sore muscles, but the photos state that it was caused by fun and pleasure. The mountains are high and the hiking trails make you climb and climb ─ all worth it when you stand up there. Greetings to all the campers.
Unfortunately lots of inventory missing in the kitchen such as wine glasses, glass salad bowl and not enough crockery. Bin lid missing and no bin bag provided on arrival.
We did not have to wait to use ablution facilities which was comforting. By far the most beautiful surroundings however, we did not feel safe. The gates do not get locked. There is no visible security and the fence is torn in some parts so even if the gate were locked it would not help.
Showers were clogged even it was reported. No shower heads. Grass was long. Maintenance on site not as desired. Power points were removed at tented camp.
On arrival we were well received, but after we started unpacking we were asked to move to another unit. We packed the car again and then went to the other unit but there we were asked to park at a different number - the problem is I have a disability and walking so far from parking 24 to unit 10 is far and feels I also want to park where my unit is. All in all not what we expected the place to be, was okay!
For older people, the distance from the car to the houses is far. When unpacking there were style stairs and uphills to walk with luggage. Shower floor is sloped and smooth, you slide down to the middle. No holding place. Kitchen equipment was very incomplete. Beds slept great and rondavel was clean and tidy.
Everything was dirty, messy.
