Kalahari Tented Camp is an unfenced camp in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Situated high up on a red sand dune, overlooking a waterhole in the dry bed of the ancient Auob River, the Kalahari Tent Camp welcomes you to capture the spirit of the land of thirst. The tented camp is 3 km from the Mata-Mata Rest Camp where Kalahari Tent Camp residents can refuel and get basic supplies at the shop, and is also near the recently opened Namibian border post. The camp is designed in such a way that residents feel they have only themselves and the desert for company.

Where the red dunes and scrub fade into infinity and herds of gemsbok, springbok, eland and blue wildebeest follow the seasons, where imposing camel thorn trees provide shade for huge black-mane lions and vantage points for leopard and many raptors, this is the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Access to the Park can be gained through 5 gates in 3 different countries. From South Africa access is through the Twee Rivieren gate, from Namibia through the Mata-Mata gate and from Botswana through the Two Rivers, Mabuasehube and Kaa gates.

This exclusive getaway for the discerning visitor, boasts 15 Desert Tents each elegantly decorated with rustic finishes using wood, sand and canvas exteriors all in the resonate colours of the park. With 15 units it is by far the largest of the wilderness camps. The spacious stilted canvas tents look out on a waterhole in the ancient Auob River. Each unit has a large bedroom and bathroom with a separate tented kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils, cutlery, linen and fridge-freezer. Power in the camp is supplied by solar and gas, there are no conventional plugs.

The camp is not fenced bringing the veld right to your door, and a Tourism Supervisor is on duty at all times. Sightings of plenty of giraffe are usually made in the vicinity. There is a swimming pool, surrounded by an elegant wooden tanning deck, to cool down in. The Kalahari Tented Camp also has a waterhole, and guided morning and sunset drives, as well as guided morning walks can be arranged from here.
