The Limpopo Forest Tented Camp is situated in the Limpopo riverine forest which offers excellent birding, and is located in the western section of the Park, approximately 40 km from the Main Gate. The camp is close to the Maloutswa Pan Bird Hide and archaeological sites. The camp has a unique eco-trail, as well as a swimming pool to cool off the heat.
Limpopo Forest Tented Camp offers guests accommodation in 8 spacious self-catering Forest Tents, each containing a bedroom, a shower en suite, a kitchen, open deck and braai facilities.
Mapungubwe’s restaurant offers a comprehensive menu, and pre-packed dinners are available on request. Other facilities at Mapungubwe include picnic sites and a day visitor centre, a Limpopo and Shashe rivers Confluence Lookout Point, a treetop boardwalk, and an auditorium ideal for educational groups or small conferences and can seat up to 50 guests.
The Mapungubwe Interpretive Centre, an amazing building that won the World Building of the Year in 2009s World Architectural Awards, was constructed to house a museum with many of the artefacts uncovered from archaeological sites in the park. Information on the park's fascinating history and biology is also available at the interpretive centre with knowledgeable guides on hand to take visitors through the centre.

3 guests' feedbackTiny reserve with almost zero game. Total waste of my precious time, very frustrating. Not to mention money - this side of the park should not be part of Sanparks. It is a travesty. You drive along the fence of a ZZ2 orchard to get into the "park". I feel robbed of my time and money.
Four of the tents are nicely fixed. The other tents still need to be done and look very poor, tarpaulins torn and windows broken. Pool water not 100% clean.
Tents were very spacious and clean - a little maintenance needed on the tent and shade cloth covering, but did not detract from the ambience. Not really a place for Kruger Park big five chasers, very peaceful and tranquil and nice to have lots of open space with not many others around. Great bird life with some really good sightings.

Approximately 35 km of roads are suitable for normal sedan vehicles. A further 100 km is accessible to all-terrain 4x4 vehicles. All the roads within the park are gravel.
Mapungubwe National Park is divided into an Eastern and Western section, separated by private lands in between which does not form part of the Park. Bookings at Tshugulu Lodge, Limpopo Forest Tented Camp, Mazhou Camping Site and Maloutswa Bird Hide requires one to drive outside the park in order to rejoin the Western section of the Park where the camps are located.
No caravans are allowed in the eastern section of the park due to roads conditions. We have a caravan park at Mazhou camping site on the western section of the park.
Guests should take precautions against malaria when visiting Mapungubwe.
There is no fuel station inside the park. The closest filling stations are in Musina 70 km and Alldays 65 km from the main gate.
