SANParks Shimuwini Bushveld Camp

Shimuwini is a Shangaan word for ‘Place of the Baobab Tree’. The camp is so named because the nearby Letaba River which fronts the cottages, is lined with these huge trees, one of them estimated to be between 2000 and 3000 years old.
Accommodation at Shimuwini Bushveld Camp caters to a variety of guest requirements and is well suited for those guests who are looking for a self-catering bushveld experience.
There is a mini-shop at reception that stocks basic items such as firewood, ice and Telkom phone cards. There are no foodstuffs such as meat available. The camp has a bird hide, a communal boma with braai facilities and a swimming pool at the boma.

2 guests' feedbackThe bushveld camp is very peaceful and comfortable for a family with teenagers. There is no WiFi available, which makes planning and communication difficult.
Stunning, private piece of paradise right on the river with unobstructed views of the river and visitors to the river daily. At night the fireflies are beautiful and in the day the life of the river is so tranquil and peaceful. Two downsides to our stay were 1 the bathroom's was a bit outdated, the shower's temperature did not regulate well and kept changing throughout the shower, the bath had chips in the paint and needs some updating, 2 the chalet could not be locked when we were out for the day, we took all our valuables with us on every ride in the day as we were not given a key for our chalet and could not actually lock the unit. iI is a small private camp with restricted entry but you never know who your neighbours are, so we did not like this idea. But overall, I would stay here again 100%.
