The Tanqua Guesthouse Complex is very conveniently situated on the southern boundary of the Tankwa Karoo National Park and a stone's throw away from the Oudebaaskraal Dam. Built somewhat like a desert fort, the Tanqua Guesthouse was formerly owned by Esther and Alewyn Burger and later incorporated into the Tankwa National Park in 2007.
The guest house offers a range of accommodation and has played host to weddings, team building exercises as well as film and commercial shoots. A 900 m air strip is also situated next to the main building, allowing fly-ins by guests.

8 guests' feedbackVisit was wonderful. Beautiful Place. Bad mosquitoes so you can't sleep at all. Please let them know to pour lamp oil down their drains. There is open ventilation for their drains.
Beautiful passes.
Nice space, large kitchen and living room with fireplace for the cold evenings. The showers were unfortunately not too bright, water but cold.
Arrived at deadman's door. Drove 50 km out of our way because of poor communication. Kitchens poorly equipped, houses not very clean.
The detached family house was neat and clean. Sufficient bedding and kitchenware. Staff were helpful and friendly. Make sure you shower before 22h00, because then the generator goes off and the water pressure drops. Take a 2nd spare tire with you if you have one. We lost 3 tires in 2 days.
Best reached by 4x4, our little Toyota managed to survive the test of stone corrugated iron. The landscape is surreally beautiful, the silence and seclusion are the real reason why we came. Saw many goats. Small plants despite the drought.
We had a confirmed booking, but were not expected on our arrival. However, the kind caretaker settled us in to the lovely hacienda which we had to ourselves. We recommend a visit to the nearby dam. Enjoyed our visit.
