We couldn't stay at the accommodation due to a short circuit and fire damage, but Lindie and her husband accommodated us on a farm next to their farm in their parents' house, a beautiful place with a beautiful view of the mountains and we had such a good time and rest assured. Will definitely go there again.
We specifically wanted to get away from the usual noise, but that was not our choice. During our visit, the cows and calves were weaned from each other by forcibly separating them. All you heard from sunrise to sunset and into the night was the cattle calling to each other. We were so upset about it that we packed up and went home after just 2 days. It was extremely disappointing, because we were really looking forward to it. The roads are also in terrible condition, you just pray to get to the end of it. The farm is also a long way from the towns, which in any case have nothing to see and have also just fallen into disrepair. Definitely not worth the money and diesel. We only came to stay here because another guest house messed up our booking at the last minute and Clarens was full.
Typical Free State farm feel with style and luxury to it.
Upon our arrival there were 2 servants who received us. They didn't understand us and we didn't understand them. The owner later came to introduce himself to us.
It was definitely an unexpectedly delightful destination that speaks to the exhausted person. Here you can relax and break away from the everyday hustle and bustle. Be assured that the silence awaits you so that heart, soul and mind can rest. The kindness of our hostess and her husband was wonderful for us. Guests become friends. The wonderful view from the mountain picnic will take your breath away. A definite recommendation for anyone who really wants to rest.
We really enjoyed our stay at Saxon Park! It's a beautiful place with very nice gardens and a view of the surroundings. The unit was nicely furnished with a comfortable bed. We didn't need to share the common living room/kitchen with anyone, which was very convenient, as the space in the fridge was a bit limited for self-catering for more people. There's a fantastic library in the living area and nice couches. We didn't realize beforehand that breakfast was served with the host family around their kitchen table, so it was a little different from what we're used to, but it was very pleasant. A particularly tasty breakfast was served with freshly baked scones, egg and bacon and the hosts were very friendly, helpful and pleasant company. Good value for money!
The Maltitz family is very friendly. The accommodation is excellent.
The host was so friendly and helpful, everything was clean and they even had coffee, tea, rusks and milk upon arrival, was so peaceful and clean. Would recommend it.
