The open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining area offers great sea views, and the house features a swimming pool with an entertainment area and covered verandah with portable braai facilities. The separate fire pit is situated under shady Fig trees and is ideal for lazy afternoons round the braai. The house is equipped with a TV with full DStv, a bar fridge, and a deep freeze. There is also the added luxury of an ice-maker for convenience. The house is also equipped with a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a dishwasher.
For security there are external beams as well as internal security, automated gates, and 24-hour security by Lazer Security. A domestic helper is on hand if required, for a nominal fee.
Southport main beach is a pristine Blue Flag beach with a tidal pool, rock pools , fishing and surfing and safe swimming with lifeguards on duty. Guests can visit the Captain’s Anchor Pub and Restaurant under the Milkwood trees, or make use of the communal braai facilities at the beach. The little village of Southport is supplied with a Total Service Station, Southport Superette and Bakery, a post office, a car wash, and a dentist for emergencies. My friends and I loved the place. Clean pool. Safe electric gate. We enjoyed the fire pit at night as well. We absolutely loved the place and the host was welcoming. Definitely a 5-star rating.
We enjoyed our visit very much. Conveniently located, view was fantastic. House is well equipped and very tidy. We were kindly received and kept informed of the load shedding schedule all the time. The large veranda with sea view is a winner. Big trees block the worst wind from the sea. Would recommend Sea Shells Cottage with confidence and we will definitely be visiting again.
Couldn't play loud tradition music, was told to tone down. Fridge and freezer wasn't 100% working. During loadshedding, no water as water is supplied through Jojo tank. Pool pump was not activated while there, no pool maintenance, we even had to fill the pool ourselves. Pool wasn't very clean. Yes we did by mistake break a glass top, but breakage refund took a whole week. Not value for money, we paid too much, only 2 bedrooms had air-con, the rest had fans but they overheated rooms, not a good place for large group, we had 8 adults and 2 teenagers.
The lady sends me a picture saying that my dogs made a hole in the one sofa, these are covered with cloths when you get there, you can't see it, then she blames us for the damage. It's clearly an old tear.
Was baie tevrede en het baie lekker gebly. Cottage het baie spasie, baie tevrede dankie.
My colleagues/friends did enjoy every minute of they stay, I am the only one that did not enjoy the pool because I had to leave them the following morning to attend a relative's funeral but I did join them later that day.
Ideal accommodation for extended family. Spacious living areas, inside and outside, with all the comfort of your own home. Fourth bedroom has open plan shower and toilet in room, which is not ideal for privacy. Lovely braai area, fire pit and veranda with sea view. Pool, air conditioning and fans helped a lot with cooling in December.
