My stay was perfect. That's how I can summarise it.
It is very well maintained, and it is nice to stay there. We stayed in the chalet with our two adult children. The privacy was a bit of an issue. Because the unit adjoins the office, the staff seems to use the kitchen etc. used for themselves, which is not a problem, but there were staff walking in and out on the first day we were there. The rest of the weekend it did not happen.

I booked Chalet 3. On arrival there were guests in the unit. The owners moved us to Chalet 2. I was very unhappy. The shower head was off and there was also other damage inside the unit. I messaged the owners about the shower head but they didn't even read or reply! Very weak!

We are return guests. Travelling with dogs. The owners have thought of almost everything one needs and are very helpful. Only suggestion is that more help is needed in load shedding. One gas cooker could be placed in the braai area for all guests. Also, water does not pump during load shedding. A bit inconvenient.

Unfortunately the site is on the main street and large trucks use the road throughout the day and night. The noise is terrible and unfortunately we did not sleep well. Otherwise everything was okay.
The place is conveniently located, a beautiful play area for dogs if they come to you when called, gracious hosts. But, it is on the main road and extremely noisy, and on the day I was there, there were many people going in and out of the sliding gate (and had to keep dogs close to me, as the dedicated dog play area where you can close the gate is awful - tiny and behind the cottage). Unit 5 is furthest from the gate, but I was in unit 2, fairly close to the gate. Expect a lot of heavy vehicle noise (and there seems to be nothing like a 9 pm curfew in a small town or for heavy vehicles).
Unit very well furnished and neat bedding, good lighting. Shower door can move slightly for XXL people. Small carpets (bathrooms) were not washed, otherwise we could give a better mark!

We had a great stay here. The reception by the owner was friendly and hospitable. He even offered me the braai room to braai in as it was cold. Good TV and WiFi and a nice place to stay while traveling. There just wasn't enough hot water the next morning. Although it was very cold, I believe that the hot water cylinder is too small. The lack of hot water was the only negative experience.

Wish there were more similar options like Senekal Self-Catering onward to Cape Town. We tend to drive no longer than 6 hours, making Durban to Cape Town a 2 night stop over when we do it. Apart from the lovely garden setting, not having to unload our car is a huge benefit after a tiring day.
