"Comfortable, quiet, wildlife, beautiful, tree-lined, in a ravine, neat unit."

Premises are small but very neat with everything you need. Everything is there, except a wardrobe, but understandable with the unit's size. Enough wood is provided by the owner, the place is clean and everything works. The "shower" and hot water facilities work with gas, as well as a small stove for food preparation along with the braai. The braai is nice and big and there is also a built-in fireplace (we didn't use it because it's summer). It averaged 35 degrees over the weekend and the unit, being under trees, was cool and comfortable. It's relatively close to the tarmac, the dirt road there is acceptable and can be driven with any vehicle (just not a Porsche), but normal vehicles are okay. It's close to Haenertsburg, the Magoebaskloof + hotel and the nature is beautiful. If it's just the 2 of you who want to get away for the weekend, this is a really nice little romantic spot. There is no TV or WiFi, you go there just to get quiet again.

From arrival to departure, everything went smoothly. Nicola is friendly and always willing to help, even with troublesome calls. Everything was pretty neat and clean. The cottage is nice and warm, even though it was cold outside. We didn't even need to use the heater or fireplace.

The Croft Cottage was the ideal getaway for us as a young couple. The unit is extremely neat and well equipped, with a nice cozy atmosphere, especially when the fireplace is crackling. The cottage is painstakingly neat and clean, with a spacious and functional bathroom. The location of the unit is also excellent, remote from the larger conurbation, but central to most attractions around Haenertsburg and Magoebaskloof. The famous Zwakalala brewery is a stone's throw away, and the savory restaurant Pot 'n Plow just around the corner. Check-in and check-out were easy and self-help, with clear instructions. It didn't cause us any problems. In addition, there is also additional security in the form of an alarm system for us scared Gautenians. The immediate surroundings are beautiful and there is so much to do and see, and lovely walks on the site itself. The Croft Cottage is definitely good value for money, and we can recommend it with confidence and will certainly return again. Thank you very much.

The Croft Cottage was tidy, well equipped with everything needed and was peaceful with rich bird life and beautiful trees. We have been to the gardens and would love to see them in the spring. Nice and quiet in nature, but not too isolated. It's nice to hear a combination of farm life and nature early in the morning. We just regularly set foot to the surrounding farms. There is also plenty to do in the area within a short driving distance.

Just a fairytale setting! We spent two nights at the lovely Croft Cottage - which has absolutely everything you could need and the fireplace made it super cosy as we had cold, rainy weather. Taking walks is an absolute must - to take in the beauty of the surrounding gardens. Can’t wait to return.

We stayed at Sequoia in the Croft cottage for 3 nights. The unit has everything you need and is surrounded by peace and privacy. The gardens and views, especially at the dams, are just the best! We had a picnic at the dam which was picture perfect. If you can't choose between the 2 cottages, the Meadow cottage's view is a bit more fascinating. Will definitely be back!

We got a lot more than expected. Photos do not do it justice. We fell in love with place the moment we got there. If you want to get away from the hustle of every day life, this is the place to be. Everything about Sequoia gardens is perfect, the setting, service, and everything that you require to be more than comfortable. Service is excellent! We had an issue with the gas oven that did not switch off. We reported it and it was attended to in a matter of minutes. We are very impressed and will be going again soon.

Sequoia's Meadow cottage is ideally located within easy reach of all attractions in the vicinity of Haenertsburg. The house is well equipped, the environment in which it is located is very private with a beautiful natural garden to walk in and a nice pond within a stone's throw from the front porch. The hostess is very pleasant and welcomed us and made us feel very much at home. It should be on every nature lover's "must do list". There was a container of milk available upon our arrival and enough coffee and tea for the four days we spent there.

My wife and I stayed in the Croft cottage which was quaint, clean, tidy and inviting. Quiet was the order of the day and we enjoyed the walks in the garden. We used the fireplace one night and it worked surprising well. The bed mattress was unacceptably hard - we ended up putting the the spare duvet under us to improve the comfort which helped somewhat - it needs urgent replacement. There is no housekeeping at all which was disappointing considering the price charged per night and with wet weather, trying to dry towels and bath mats was a challenge. If the bed and housekeeping were up to standard I would have little hesitancy recommending the place but based on our stay I unfortunately cannot.

The Meadow Charlet was perfect for us! Beautiful inside with a fireplace and the large window looking out on the pond. Something out of a fairy tale! We enjoyed it very much. The gardens are beautiful and you literally live in the forest.

We were made to feel welcome and the owner went to a lot of trouble to ensure that we were comfortable. The place is very cosy. It was quite cold during our stay, so the fireplace was key. Staying in Meadow cottage is like being in a postcard. I highly recommend Meadow cottage, it overlooks a small dam where my husband happily fly fished for the weekend. We went for stunning walks around the property and even though it was June, some of the azaleas were flowering. We will be back in spring to see the flowers bloom. I can only imagine how spectacular it will be then.

Sequoia Garden Retreat is a little slice of heaven and from the moment we arrived, we were able to relax. The little cottage is beautifully decorated and perfectly situated - the views over the dam were incredible especially in the early morning with the mist rising off the water. The gardens are stunning and the autumn colours were a feast for the eyes. The boys loved feeding the trout. Nicola and Devon were fantastic hosts and I appreciated them letting me tag along for a cycle. A perfect place to escape the rat race, slow down and forget about the rest of the world for a bit. Will definitely be back!

The host and hostess were most helpful in telling us about the surrounding areas and we could explore to our hearts content.

We enjoyed the accommodation very much, it was a small beautiful cottage and can honestly say we have no complaints. I would have liked to know that there is no oven, it did not realise it from the photos. Cottage and linen were clean and very neat. There are quite a few spiders, but we are in the bush so we took it into account. The retreat is perfectly located with plenty to do within 15 mins drive. We really enjoyed the brewery.

Unfortunately, the photos and information on the website do not state that the Croft Cottage (one of the three cottages you can book) is at the intersection between the main road and Sequioa Garden Retreat's entrance road. Although the unit is extremely modern, spotless, neat and elegantly decorated, it is with extreme disappointment that we came here. The view from Croft Cottage is the dust road, with the noise of traffic from the main road behind you. Along with that, you can expect the cars' headlights to shine through the bedroom window when the noise also wakes you up. Not to mention the neighborhood dogs barking non-stop throughout the evening. There is no view here of the beautiful gardens or the water depicted in the photos found on the various websites and our booking is a classic result of false advertising. If you book one of the other units, your experience will be completely different by nature, because there is a view of water and beautiful gardens. As mentioned, the unit itself is extremely clean and tidy and excellently equipped. There is no oven available and the kitchen and bedroom are all in one single open room, which makes kitchen smells less pleasant in the bedroom. The only serious criticism of the unit itself (beyond the poor location of this particular unit) is the horrendously uncomfortable mattress, which makes a cement floor feel comfortable and inviting. Our attempt to flee the city for a getaway to the promised romantic quiet amid the adventure advertised was met with utter disappointment. I would recommend you don't book the Croft Cottage when you want to come here. If you book one of the other units, your experience will be very positive.
