It was a very nice area, close to the river we saw many animals daily — zebras, moose, goats, aardvarks and the most beautiful giraffe. Everything is nice and close to each other and we definitely want to go again soon. Accommodation is safe, tidy and calm, we loved it as there was no noise from TVs etc. Bernadette is so friendly and her reception was really very warm and I would definitely recommend Serenity. It is also close to the Crocodile Bridge to enter the Kruger National Park.

Bernadette the hostess goes absolutely out of her way to make you feel at home. The rooms are clean, tidy and very comfortable, the cleaners are very friendly. The shared kitchen is excellently equipped and each room (guest) has its own fridge-freezer in the kitchen. Tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, gas stove, microwave in the kitchen. Beautiful thatched patio with small pool to cool off. Animals like Kudus, Warthogs come looking for food. Relaxed wonderfully and as a single woman I was never afraid, I always felt safe. Thank you Bernadette you will definitely see me again!
We were lucky enough to have zebras, Kudus and warthogs all around us. The place is spacious and very well-equipped. The only issue was the roads to the accommodation. That really needs some improvement. Other than that, it was a memorable stay.

A beautiful family reunion in the bush. Perfect for our purposes. The six ensuite rooms accommodated 9 adults and 4 children with ease. I would not feel comfortable sharing the facilities with strangers. We were unable to use the communal lounge/dining area, as the patio doors no longer open. This is really sad as it opens out onto a patio with views of the pristine bush, and it would allow airflow. Also, the huge tabletop is beautifully carved wood, but not usable without a solid covering of some sort. The communal outside lapa area is lovely and has a small splash pool. Due to the heat, this is a welcome relief. We enjoyed our evening campfires around the braai pit, kept beautifully clean by the staff member, who came in quietly at 5:00 each morning with a friendly wave as I was enjoying my morning coffee. We enjoyed our 3-minute walks to the river and meanderings along the Kruger Park fence. The kids and dads enjoyed their bicycle rides. Best of all were our daily visits from our warthog friends, mongoose family, and various buck. There was a huge kudu! The kids had a couple of exciting scorpion night sightings with their ultraviolet torches.
Since our arrival at Serenity Du Bois lodge we have received nothing but the best service from Bernadette. She is such a loving and caring person. We had an anniversary stay to remember. As for the location, such beautiful sight. Highly recommended!

Serenity Du Bois Lodge, tranquil in the lush Lowveld, nestled in Marloth Park is a real pleasant break away. Bernadette, the owner and host at Serenity du Bois, made us feel welcome when we booked in. The atmosphere is not just relaxed but also stimulating. It provides a sense of freedom amongst the animals in the park. We enjoyed the quietness, the silence and most of all the comfort within the lodge. It was really relaxing to stay here and we will recommend Serenity Du Bois to anyone who wants to visit Marloth Park.

I had a fantastic stay. On the property I saw Kudu's, Baboons, Warthogs, and others. The Location close to excellent restaurants. Simply excellent and highly recommendable.
Bernadette met us there and immediately showed us everything. Kitchen is shared by the rest of the lodge's people. But very neat and spacious. Will definitely book Serenity again for our whole group of friends who can all stay there together. Sleeps 14 adults.

There is an incredible amount of wildlife. It is very close to the river so you can also hear the manatees in the evening. Quiet and safe.

The furniture is broken, the bed's mattress is totally worn out, cobwebs are not removed, the french drain or septic tank is overflowing and the smell is not good at all, the covered parking is too little. I prefer something like a chalet to sharing a house, but we prefer to camp with our caravan and this experience has confirmed that for us.

Serenity lodge is very well situated, close to the river, the rooms are large and the bathrooms adequate. We enjoyed sitting by the fire at night and listening to the night sounds. Bernadette is very friendly and helpful. I will be going back.
We enjoyed our visit. The lady who cleaned our room every day was very friendly and helpful. Just a few points (we are not complaining, but just for information): We stayed in room no. 1 stayed. The bed may need to be replaced, there is no space with a mirror and a wall plug to take care of hair, the cold tap from the sink in the bathroom is leaking, the one bedside lamp is not working (flickering).
Mattresses need to be replaced.

We did not experience the Du Bois Lodge as a 3 star. Shared kitchen for all guests. Would have liked more of a fridge in room. Rooms very dark. Linen very old and not white. Rooms do not have bedside tables and bedside lamps. No closets in rooms. Long stick on a wire with 4 hangers in our room. Towels were torn and did not smell clean. We had to ask for toilet paper in our rooms. No place to put a suitcase and no place with a mirror to put on makeup.
We had a great time and saw many animals. Everyone was happy with the location because it is so close to the river. The kitchen had everything we could think of to use and the night monkeys and muskellunge cat that live there stole everyone's hearts.
The ideal place to stay and explore the Low Veld.
I very seldom complain, however we left a day earlier. It was dirty and we had to request it be cleaned. The sheets had blood stains on them and the floor mats in the bathroom were really dirty. The floors were not swept or cleaned. For a paying customer, it was not on. I don't mind old but dirty is another thing.
We haven't been on holiday in 2 years and had to make a plan to get away for a bit. The ideal occasion was my 55th birthday and we got away. It was peaceful, away from the noise of the city and TV etc. My husband and I enjoyed every moment and will definitely return. Everything was kept clean at all times.
The accommodation was very well furnished. It was lovely to cook in the large kitchen and everything you could need was available.

Du Bois Lodge is superbly laid out for accommodation. It is clean and tidy with a nice big kitchen. It is close to the Kruger National Park for a visit there.
We even hand-fed grebes on our first night there! Nick and Bernadette are wonderful people and made us feel very much at home! The lodge is within walking distance of the Kruger National Park fence and the plunge pool is fantastic on hot days. We will definitely go again!
We had a nice stay. All that was a real pain is that there is only one braai for 7 rooms. The guests who arrive first at the braai in the evening braai, the rest... "oh well".

Description
This spacious room is perfect for a family or a group of friends travelling together. There is one double bed, as well as two singles - with an en-suite bathroom that has both a bath and shower. The room is open plan. There is a patio outside where you can sit and enjoy the complimentary tea/coffee while relaxing in the beautiful environment.
R1 550R 1 550R 1 395The Lodge can accommodate 14 persons. There are 6 en-suite air-conditioned rooms, 5 of which have patios. The Lodge functions as a self-catering facility with a large communal kitchen which is fully equipped. Should you not want to cater for yourself, you can enjoy a pub lunch or a meal at one of the Reserve’s Restaurants. Alternatively, enjoy a braai around the fire at night while listening to the sounds of the bush - a lion’s roar, hyena's call and the grunting of the hippo in the river.
A splash pool provides refreshing relief during the warmer summer months. Game drives, night drives, golf nearby and a birdwatchers paradise. Close enough to Swaziland, Mozambique and the Panorama for day trips. Airport and hotel transfers are available to and from the Lodge.
Guests can also walk along the Crocodile River and view game in the Kruger Park - it is quite safe as there is a fence stopping the game from crossing between Kruger Park and Marloth Park.
Located 4 to 4½ hour drive from Johannesburg / Pretoria on the N12 / N4 towards the Kruger National Park. Daily flights are also available from Johannesburg to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and transfers are available to the Lodge.
