From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in a relaxed, warm, and homely atmosphere. Our host, Nikula, was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home throughout our stay. The guesthouse itself is impeccably decorated with a consistent French countryside theme that extends to every corner of the property. The attention to detail is evident, creating a cohesive and charming ambiance. Our rooms were tastefully adorned and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The smart TVs with streaming services, coffee stations, and luxurious bathrooms added an extra touch of convenience and indulgence. One of the highlights of our experience was the presence of burning wood fireplaces in the living areas. These fireplaces not only provide a cozy and comforting warmth but also complete the relaxed atmosphere that was so mindfully created. It was evident that the fireplaces were well-maintained, clean, and thoughtfully stocked, ensuring a delightful experience. Nikula's hospitality was exceptional. Prior to our arrival, she provided clear directions, and upon our arrival, she warmly greeted us and gave us a thorough tour of the rooms and the entire house. Luxurious and well-appointed, they offered a tranquil escape for relaxation. We stayed here for 3 nights and were very happy with everything. A gem of a place with all our needs catered for. The host was professional, friendly and accommodating. Can definitely recommend it.
The room I booked was told on arrival that I could not get the room but got the upper room. I explained that I an injury difficult to climb stairs, it was ignored. The room has no chair or seat in it and when I asked for a chair I was told that there was no room in the room for a chair. On arrival I was also asked for a deposit of R500 and it was clearly stated to me that I must not leave the premises until the room has been inspected before I check out and then I can receive my deposit.
Ideal for 6 couples. Great location and everything you need. Definitely see us again.
Shades of Provence is a beautiful overnight guest house. The rooms were well equipped, except for one room where the air conditioner did not work, and there was no soap in the soap dispenser either.

Lavender room has a nice big bath, and shower which was deliciously refreshing. Very beautiful, peaceful and safe. Will stay there again and again.

Gina was very helpful. The garden was beautiful. The recreation area next to the house is perfect with swimming pool. We will definitely stay there again!
Our room, Wheat Fields, was spacious and tidy. The extra large bath was a bonus. The quality of the towels has seen better days and should be replaced. Sweetener should be added to the coffee/tea (not just sugar) for diabetics. Two small bottles of water and two glasses in the room would also be good. The starlings in the gutter and roof woke us up just before 6am on Sunday morning. Other than that we had a nice stay.

This is a very neat and quaint establishment, nicely located and quiet. the room was very clean and modern. the bed was extremely comfortable. My only comment would be that they should offer a breakfast, as the establishment they referred me to was still closed at 8h00, which is not great if you are there on business.

We stayed at Shades of Provence this past weekend as a large family group. It's a beautiful place, so well decorated with very friendly staff! Everything so neat and clean. The most beautiful combination of furniture, amenities, color and relaxation! My family and I would recommend the place anytime! Shades of Provence is definitely on my list for another visit to that part of our beautiful country! Shades of Provence gets 10 out of 10 from me!

Beautiful house and garden, stunning decor, very comfortable bedrooms and clean bathrooms, enormous open-plan area downstairs with two lounges and two kitchens, spacious outdoor entertainment area. Ideal for a large group to take over the whole house if you want privacy. We loved relaxing on the shaded veranda and dipping in the pool. All in all our extended family had a fabulous stay!

This guesthouse is perfectly located close to the main centre of town. We walked everywhere. It is beautifully decorated in a cottage style, the beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. The town itself is an absolute delight! Full of quirky, eccentric places and people. We will definitely be back!
Even though we were unable to book the one half of the house for just ourselves, we still had a great stay at Shades of Provence! We shared with another lovely couple who seemed very kind and the owner of the home was very accommodating and gave us lovely tips for where to go for supper and breakfast in town. The rooms we booked were spacious and beautifully furnished. All in all, I would definitely recommend and I am going to look into booking the whole house some time for a family weekend away!

The house is very centrally located and the lady who receives you is friendly and helpful. The house was very tidy, bathrooms comfortable and beds of the best quality, but in my opinion too expensive. For that rate, breakfast should at least be included.
We were there on a weekend when the home owner wasn't in town, but everything went smoothly. The accommodation is well-equipped and the room we stayed in, the Olive Room, was beautiful. The house has two living areas with sliding doors between the two rooms on the top floor for guests on each side. The patio and swimming pool area is nicely furnished with couches and chairs. There is a braai area with tables. We really enjoyed it.

This little house has everything you could need: a nice fireplace and a good fairy named Giena. Neat and clean. You don't want to leave. Central to visit a large part of the Western Cape, also with friends. Would definitely recommend and would happily use this house again.

Love Shades of Provence. We would definitely like to go again. Riebeek Kasteel is the most beautiful village with the most delicious food at Mama Cucina.
Beautiful, well equipped, comfortable and tidy place with great service. The house and garden are beautiful and everything lends itself to a warm atmosphere where you can just have a good time. The house is very well equipped and tidy. Clara is such a pleasant person and went out of her way to make our time there unforgettable.
The host and wife are wonderful people. They made us feel very much at home. The rooms are particularly nice with air conditioning and a beautiful bathroom.
Shades of the Valley has everything one needs for a good weekend. The rooms are well equipped and there are full kitchens and braai areas for guests.
Anyone is welcome to stay here for an evening or weekend.
I would have liked to have breakfast included in the price, but checked the website again and saw that breakfast was available. Feel that it should be clearly indicated that breakfast is not available, as the owner made it clear on arrival that there is no breakfast although there is a B&B sign at the front door entrance. The ceiling in the room is also not painted and they are working on it. Origen we had a very nice stay.

Nice location too. Thank you! We had a great stay at Shades of the Valley. If I can only recommend that perhaps a separate cupboard can be inserted above that would be fine. The shower is also very open, so a shower door that protects it a bit more would be good. Other than that it was very pleasant.
