Shick Shack is well designed and well equipped, with a dishwasher and wifi too! The sound of the sea reminds you of how close you are to the rocks and beach - less than a 5-minute walk to swim in a cove. Great for relaxing and entertaining. Cannot think of any negatives!

"Piece of heaven on earth."

It really is a piece of heaven on earth. Comfortable with everything one needs. Not a big swimming beach so this is more of a rest for the soul type of place. There are a few places where you can access the beaches. Unbelievably beautiful view. We will definitely go again. Such a nice farm feel. All negative was that the cleaner stood in front of the door an hour and a half before check-out time to clean because there were new guests on their way.

It's a nice place to stay with a breathtaking view from all the living rooms. Eersterivier beach is very remote, so it's ideal if you want to get away from the city.

Our stay at Shick Shack was pleasant, but not sure we will be coming back anytime soon. The location and proximity to the ocean is ideal and the beds are very comfortable, but that’s where it stopped for us. The place is rather run-down and has a lot of rust throughout. Most of the sea-facing locks are rusted which makes them difficult to open/close, lock and unlock. The main stacking doors to the terrace are so rusted that they have come off their hinges completely.   As a result they needed to be opened by an adult each time to avoid the kids being injured if they happened to come off. Thankfully they didn't. The sliding door lock downstairs in the left bedroom is so rusted that it can’t be locked.   As a result we couldn't put the kids in there as someone could have come in at any time. Not too safe. The water pressure and showers were really great, but we were rather put off by the heavily mouldy shower heads in both upstairs showers. The lounge light switch is faulty and did not always turn on. When they did come on, a somewhat concerning cracking sound came from the inside of the switch. Whilst there was a wifi code, the wifi did not work. The instructions say that if we wanted to watch TV that we would bring our own decoder. Which we did because we wanted to watch the SA vs NZ rugby game. But there is no TV in the house so I'm not sure where they intended for us to plug the decoder into. Very disappointing and we had to make other plans to go out to catch the game. The carpet in the main bedroom appears to have been soiled by (what I can only suspect is) a small dog, and not cleaned very well. Obvious brown stains on the gray carpets. We certainly appreciate that a home like this is difficult to maintain, however, we get the sense that it is not being taken care of and being left to decay as time goes by. I do think this can all be fixed if the owners put some love into what I am sure was once a really beautiful, well-loved home. 3/10 I’m afraid.

Very clean and tidy. No TV - not that we minded. Braai area behind the cottage on the side of the road. Brilliantly furnished!

Very spacious house with lovely sea views from everywhere in the house and from all the rooms. Everything needed for an unforgettable getaway is there. A very neat home where good memories are made. Will definitely go back again!

House is very well equipped and spacious. En suite's sink had a bit of trouble draining water and the dishwasher won't close. Door hinges and locks are rusted, and look like they will give trouble one of these days.

Had a very comfortable stay. Most beautiful view of the sea. Very quiet here. Unfortunately, the beach's sand was washed away when we were there, but in any case, you can't walk down to the beach directly in front of the house. It's quite far from Storms River. Only a basic paddock for food supply 10km out on dirt road.

"Ideal, peaceful getaway."

It really is exactly what the name says: a Shick Shack. We were asked to take towels and cleaning products with us, but everything was provided. However, there is no TV although the website says you can bring your own decoder. The view is fantastic and definitely makes the visit worthwhile. There are several small beaches very close by where you can sit quietly on sand or rocks and stare at the waves.

Was very convenient, everything I needed was there with children, children could go down to the beach alone and I could still see them from the balcony. Very quiet!

Shick Shack home is beautifully furnished, peaceful beach house atmosphere. Great space and cozy deck and living area. Nice getaway for a weekend. Will definitely recommend the place to my friends and family and will definitely stay there again. We took my mum along for a nice weekend away from our busy lives, will definitely go again and this time with our housemates with enough room for two families, we only used the top level when we went.

After travelling South Africa from Cape Town all the way to Addo for about 10 days, we decided to spend a few days of relaxation at Shick Shack. All we can say is that is was the perfect venue for a few days of mindful wellness. Fortunately the weather was beautiful too, which just gave it everything it needed to be happy. If you are in for a few days of relaxation and you like great views of the ocean, big waves, rocks and whales "dancing" in the ocean it is thee perfect place to be.
