8 guests' feedbackThank you very much for a wonderful time at Shutters on Hilltop. It felt like we were at our own home because everything needed in a home was there and more. I read a review from a previous guest and it mentioned the many different lounge areas, and it certainly is. Regardless of the fires, everything went smoothly. We were sorry to have to go again. We will definitely stay there again if time permits. And on top of everything, Julia was an absolute angel and also became a friend. Many greetings, the 3 Sisters.
Beautiful view from the deck, on which one could have a good time. Everything was clean and tidy. Nicely laid out garden with many focal points. Julia was a very friendly and helpful hostess. Communication with owner and hostess was quick and effective.
We were a group of people who came to stay here over a weekend. We asked if it would be possible to check in earlier, but there were guests checking out that day, so the cleaning service had to finish first. It was completely understandable and no problem. The place has beautiful views and lots of places to sit and relax, which was lovely. Unfortunately, there were quite a few areas that were not clean enough - stains on dishcloths, food on the side of a leather chair, dirty glasses, cups, cooking pots etc. The garden was also not tidy at all and paths full of branches which made it difficult to use the garden. It should also be mentioned that the wooden floors and location of bedrooms under the kitchen and living area can be very disturbing. One hears every sound from upstairs in the bedroom areas. The main road through Scarborough is also right under the house so the traffic is quite disturbing.
Shutters on Hilltop is a great venue. The house is very calm, and the setting makes it easy to relax. It does however lack in basic amenities. Was not fun finding no coffee in the tins Saturday morning. Empty can of olive oil next to nearly empty saltshaker and no hand wash in the bathrooms. I have stayed at many of the venues on the website that had made it not necessary to pack the whole kitchen for a weekend away. Maybe we were just spoiled previously.
Lydia received us so nice and friendly. More about Scarborough told. This is a must see 'conservation village'!
Julia was an absolute delight.
Fantastic house, the location is perfect and the house was big enough for 6 of us to feel spaced out. Julia was fantastic and very helpful. Great pool and outside area for entertaining. It was a 10/10 weekend.
The house has a very nice view of the sea and we spent most of our time at the pool area. The warmer water made it possible for us to enjoy it with our children. The house is well equipped and all we lacked was soap in the bathrooms. The hostess was fantastic. We really enjoyed the visit.
