This cottage can accommodate 4 guests and comes equipped with 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom features a queen-size bed and the second bedroom features 2 single beds. Other in-room facilities include a bathroom fitted with a shower and a kitchenette fitted with a fridge, two-plate gas hob, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. This unit also comes equipped with a fireplace and an outdoor bathtub. There are lovely braai facilities available for guests’ use during their stay and guests are afforded secure parking on the premises.
Occasionally we also offer dinner bed & breakfast. A unique African-Swiss cuisine prepared on the open fire and naturally served by candlelight. Simonskloof features small rock pools, hiking trails, mountain biking trails, and guided outdoor activities such as canyoning, wilderness trekking, and abseiling are on offer.
Since 1999 the owners have created a 60 km long network of hiking trails leading up the mountains and down into deep gorges. The Gecko trail has become part of the roughly 750 km long Rim of Africa, Africa’s toughest and longest mountain traverse.

Had such a nice stay. You just have to stay longer than 3 days! Lots of hiking trails! Too little time.
Great web break, away from the hustle and bustle and cell phone reception. One gets the opportunity to be close to nature. The silence and only nature sounds are like music to one's ears. You get a chance to think about what you think. I would highly recommend it to people who need to recharge their batteries!
Quickly switch off and enjoy nature. Have a nice walk, chat and basically forget about everything we have to deal with every day.
Truly the best break we have had in a long time. The silence and natural beauty are food for the soul.
There is no electricity so do not expect to charge phones. The outside bath with a view over the mountains was a winner!
If you love nature and hiking, we highly recommend Simonskloof. We loved camping here with our dogs and hiking to the rockpools, waterfall and appreciating the silence. We even spotted the very rare riverine rabbit one night while sitting by the fire! The hosts are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The only thing I would mention is that some of the campsites are a bit close together if you like camping in complete privacy and some of the sites have a slope.
If you need to break away, this is the place to go. As a person who loves nature and sometimes needs to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I can honestly say this is the best location, hands down. The hiking trails, the cosy house, the silence, not to mention the friendliness and kindness of Jurgen and Ninon - everything about Simonskloof Mountain Retreat is geared to help you experience the Koo Valley in all its glory. Thank you Jurgen and Ninon. We will be back.
We had an amazing stay! The owners are absolutely blessed to call this place home! The unit was neat and tidy and the simple, eco-friendly elements commendable. The hiking trails are breathtaking and I could lie in the hammock forever, just soaking up the tranquility and beauty of the pristine surroundings. Our 2 Scotties also enjoyed the trails with us and took a plunge in the mountain pools. I definitely recommend this place to all nature lovers!
Great break from the daily hustle and bustle - away from others with only the necessary daily amenities available.
