14 guests' feedbackThe most wonderful stay! Nana is an incredible host. She went out of her way to make our stay worth it. The accommodation is extremely well-equipped. This is the type of stay where you just need to bring clothes and food, as everything else is provided. The location of the accommodation is perfect for someone who loves to be outdoors and in nature. A clear sky means wonderful stargazing too! If the weather is too hot, there is also a small splash pool to help cool you down. Everything is just perfect!
We loved it! We stayed for 3 nights in Date Cottage and had a great time. This is the perfect place for a proper break. Off the grid but so comfortable. The cottage has everything you need. There are beautiful walks, sunsets and animals on the farm. Nona was so warm and friendly and we even got a freshly baked bread on our 2nd day. Thank you!
Breathtaking landscapes, silence that hurts your ears and stars you can touch! The cleanliness and tranquility of the cottage only helped to make everything even better! Nana is a real hostess and extremely attentive and caring. We just fell in love all over again with the Tankwa and Nana's farm is a gem in it. Friendly people in the area. The Padstal is a landmark on the way there and the road from Ceres leaves one in awe of nature again!
The perfect Tankwa stay! Clean and very cosy accommodation. Lots of open spaces to 'play'. Nana was so helpful. The Tankwa gave its best to us!
We had a bit of difficulty getting to the farm and 4x4 was required due to a very muddy R355. Two days before our departure, the access farm road was severely flooded but the water subsided just at the right time, so with 4x4 low range we could make it back ok as this road was extremely muddy. It is advisable to contact the farm owner to find out about road conditions, especially if you drive a normal sedan.
It is the right place to find rest for the soul. Appreciated everything available as it takes a lot of effort to run such a remote place.
Thanks to Nana for putting up with our reef back Simba. I know he was a little annoying at times but it was great to have him with us.
The hostess Nanna is very helpful and friendly and the house is very well equipped, clean and practical. What stood out was the hot water system. There is a choice of electric or a donkey to get the water hot. I chose to use the donkey and so we had an abundance of hot water for the whole time. Furthermore, we had a great time there and really enjoyed the silence.
Wonderful environment for active hikers and mountain bike enthusiasts. The environment is beautiful. The accommodation is very well furnished and really nice. No internet/cell phone reception which is a bonus.
Our visit was wonderful. It is very far away from anything and a fantastic place to switch off. The stars at night are indescribable. We were in the Olive cottage. The unit is very neat, spacious and clean. The stoep overlooks the plains and you find peace in your soul. The pool was clean and a very nice place to cool off from the heat. I would recommend it any day to people who want to get away from it all completely. Make sure you take your SLR camera to capture those stars.
The most beautiful house and spotlessly clean. Everything you need and it's really breathtakingly beautiful. The moon was full and we could sit on the veranda and look out over the beautiful Tankwaberge. Definitely we will go again. The children loved the animals on the farm and we had a great time cooling off in the splash pool. Thank you very much!
We were welcomed by Nana at the cottage. The units are well appointed with all you may need. Webber, braai and open fire place. The houses are well insulated against the cold in winter. A place where children can run free. Lovely walk up the kloof and on the vlakte. We will definitely go back. A bonus is that there is no cellphone reception!
We went in the heat of summer, but the wind was a relief.
We had a wonderful time at Skoorsteenberg. This is truly an escape of a different kind and will appeal to most people. You are totally disconnected from the world - no cellphone reception, Wi-Fi or television. Instead we had endless walks in the mountain behind us, cooled down in the plunge pool and had fantastic suppers outside with the most spectacular display of stars. The house accommodates six people easily and the fans worked well in very hot weather. We felt safe at all times and will certainly return one day!
