118 guests' feedbackWas great with a fantastic view.
Can't find fault with anything. Michael was very helpful. The house is well equipped. The outdoor shower in each room was an experience. It helps that one can get wood and ice on the premises. Unbelievably beautiful view with privacy. We rested very well and hung out around the boma fire in the evenings.
Very nice. Only suggestion is more lighting in the house, especially the rooms.
What a fantastic house. It is well appointed and the location is perfect. The host is fantastic and made sure we were well looked after.
Awesome place to stay, will definitely stay there again!
Very nice stay! Beautiful place! The manager and other workers are very friendly!
We had an amazing stay, and the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.
We had an amazing time. From the minute of our arrival, met by Robert who is a certain value add, to the cleaning staff, who were very friendly and extremely helpful, we enjoyed every moment.
It was lovely, peaceful and beautiful, staff are very friendly, especially the caretaker very helpful.
Unfortunately, two of the bedrooms were under renovations and not open. The fumes of the paint were unpleasant, and we were not informed that the house was under renovation, which is actually not acceptable. The outside deck was a hazard as some of the wooden slats were loose and broken, making it unsafe to walk on. The air conditioning unit in one of the bedrooms made such a noise that it could not be used. The gas stove was not working properly, which the on-site manager confirmed they were waiting for a part to fix. We were seven adults and one child, and we had to make different sleeping arrangements as two bedrooms were locked. The general manager of the lodge did not bother to return my call when I phoned to complain. In one of the main bedrooms, the shower had no window, and chicken wire was used to keep out some of the larger insects. This is not acceptable when one is paying this type of rate!
Neat and clean, but definitely needs an upgrade and care! Not all the aircons work, and the stairs to the top can become a safety risk if attention is not paid to them.
The place is amazing. Great views.
Staff were super friendly, house has enough space for our big family. Everything was very neat and tidy, but the building does need some TLC, probably still an aftershock from Covid times. The road was not as bad as we thought it would be and so many places to visit for the day in the nearby vicinity. Would have liked to have stayed longer.
We come again, but for longer.
The view is amazing, and the house is stunning, really can't say anything bad.
Friendly reception, beautiful views and ample space for everyone.
We had a very nice stay. The view was beautiful.
The boma and swimming pool area at Sky Lodge are fantastic. The rooms are all a good size and comfortable, with a nice living and dining area. There is a range of bedrooms and bathrooms, accommodating different demands from a large family group. The communication was great, and the on-site staff were helpful and friendly, with good security. The final bit of the access road is pretty steep, but it is doable in a normal car.
Will definitely go again.
Very nice stay. Few leaks in the roof when it rains. Manager on duty and cleaners were very friendly and helpful. Clean and tidy. Beautiful view.
Robert-they were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The house was also very nicely cleaned every day.
See stars.
The caretaker was very helpful, when we got there was no electricity but he kept us updated.
Amazing location and facilities. A big thank you to Clementia for looking after us.
The view of the mountains and sunset stunning, Top notch accommodation and friendly welcome.
Mama and Robert were helpful and friendly. The accommodation was great for a family get-together. Wish we could have booked more than 1 night. Views beautiful. I would not recommend Red Sky for a family with small children. The swimming pool is directly outside the main house doors. But would be great for older kids. Families with small children should rather book one of the other options at Sky Lodge. Parking is sufficient.
We were a large group and booked Sunset and Blue Sky Lodges. The staff were very, very friendly and helpful and a big bonus that we didn't have to wash dishes! The manager, Clementia, was lovely and kept asking if anything was needed and if everything was ok. The view from Sunset Lodge's veranda is incredibly beautiful and Blue Sky's view from the boma and swimming pool is breathtaking. Some of Blue Sky's rooms and bathrooms are old and in need of renovation, but otherwise the Lodges were tidy. The booty showers at Sunset were a winner. We felt very safe and would definitely recommend Sky Lodge and visit again.
The staff there is amazing, you can call upon them anytime, they are always available and willing to assist. We attended a wedding the second day of our stay and only managed to get back after 12.00 am but they were available to open for us. The place is big and beautiful and we all had a good time.
The place needs to have coffee or tea, basics. We did not have tea or coffee and had to go buy.
Genuinely had a great time.
The house was very neat, spacious and the welcome and explanation by Clementia of how everything worked was very good. The house is very safe with guards outside at night. The solar panel system was also very welcome during load shedding. Only improvements to recommend: a) Some of the light bulbs were out of order. b) Maybe more bathroom/room mats, especially during winter on the cement floor. c) Guards/caretaker must use their own initiative and silence rowdy guests who play loud music until 2am as the rules are passed on the advertisement and inside the house and not wait until there is a complaint about it. Sufficient space between picnic areas/braai areas is in place, but rock-hard music and noisy guests sour the whole atmosphere and beautiful view. I would love to visit again though.
The view is to die for and breakfast on the patio with a lovely sunrise. I was so captivated with nature. I really got lost in it. Thinking happy thoughts and being calmed from the body into my soul. Amazing.
Would not recommend to other guests.
The road could be improved.
Was a great long weekend with a group of friends.
We had a great stay for 3 nights and will definitely visit the lodge again.
Service was very good, staff very helpful and friendly. Neat and clean rooms. Places could do with a little maintenance of the buildings. Wooden door was a bit lame and wooden steps were falling apart.
It's value for money to go there it was our first time but it was breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful The management and staff were very excellent with their duties so friendly and very nice really welcomed us we were early and it was not a not been a problem with them. It was very hot but comfortable, the place where we stayed was clean and very well furnished, thank you very much for the opportunity to rest away from city noise.
Please remember to tell the following travelers that this is a self-catering accommodation and that it is approximately 3km dirt road.

The boma and swimming pool area are nicely set up for a large group. The rooms are large with air conditioning. The outdoor shower is a must with the view in the morning.
Perfect place to retreat to with family and friends.
Blue Sky Lodge has a breathtaking view of the dam and mountains in the distance. There is a nice braai area with a swimming pool. As a group we will definitely go back again.
Unfortunately, we had neighbors who were partying all night and making terrible noise. At three o'clock in the morning, carts were raked and wheels spun. We mentioned this to the managers the next morning, who were very sympathetic. The only problem is that we didn't have a number in the room to report it at night.
Accommodation was neat and very nice view, enjoyed the time at Sky Lodge.
Sky Lodge has the most beautiful view. Accommodation is clean, beautiful and had everything we needed.
Well located (15 minutes from the dam), safe and clean. Perfect for a romantic weekend away with your better half.
Private and spacious!
Wonderful view. Open plan kitchen and room is cute idea. Had a lovely time. Will definitely visit again. Manager, Dennis a suggestion. Always available and extremely competent and friendly.
Loved my stay and the manager was involved all the way.
We had an awesome 3-night stay at Sky Lodge in one of the stone suites, the room was very comfortable and cosy, the view was amazing, we had an overall really relaxing break and would recommend this to anyone looking for a breakaway.
The unit where we stayed was very clean and tidy, well laid out with good facilities. The separate braai area was very practical and handy. Truly a special place.
Just had unexpected load shedding and the lodge did not have generator!
The place has the most beautiful view - we thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility! It was very clean - even smelled the sanitizer when we arrived! The benefit of a private pool is definitely a plus. Will want to go again.
Friendly, helpful and accommodating. Unit was spacious with all the necessities.
It is very private. Nice place. Restful!
The staff is amazing! View is perfect. Unfortunately the couches were very dirty, much needed aircon in living room wasn't working and we did not receive dishwashing liquid. Otherwise everything else perfect.
Might be able to build braisers properly, struggled with grill being so low.
Although there is a clear request that guests should not be rowdy, there were 2 units of guests who clearly did not comply. Other than that there were no complaints, Caroline quickly solved our other problem.
Very cute place. The dirt road is a bit in poor condition. Nice woodland atmosphere.
The house we lived in needs some renovation. We had too few towels and had to literally beg for one more towel. The stay was peaceful.
The private pool, boma and the view over the dam are really special. Unfortunately, we found the house needed some attention and was not very clean. There are also a lot of things that didn't work in the house.
When they get to our room, she started exchanging words with me, in front of my partner and her colleagues, still telling me that it won't bite us, it's just a house lizard, she had a stinking attitude. I don't think people like her can work in such an environment, however the guys were really helpful and managed to kill it, I was just disrupted by her rudeness and attitude, she definitely must go for customer service training.
The location is beautiful but the staff were extremely rude and unprofessional. Messed up our booking and blamed us for the matter. Would not recommend.
The layout of the house is very cute and your own boma area etc. But no maintenance or inspections were done. Our bed base was broken on one side. The linen was torn and burned. The towels did not smell fresh. We could only use 1 of the two-plate stove, the other one did not want to stay on. We couldn't use the toaster, it trips the house's power. Some of the lights don't even have globes in them and some of the lights had to have globes replaced. I am very unhappy about the place, I will not recommend Sky Lodge to anyone. For what we had to pay per night, never again! When they get someone to do maintenance and inspections before and after new guests check in, then it might be a nice place again.
This stay exceeded my expectations. The staff and the venue everything was so well done. Even if we had issues the staff sorted it out before we asked.
It was worth it, would go back again anytime.
I stayed for 2 nights with my boyfriend. Very romantic, quiet place. Clean and comfortable. Clementia the manager is so friendly and welcoming, makes all the difference. I would love to go back again one day, for longer next time.
Beautiful place, with the most beautiful view. Staff fantastic and professional.
We had a great evening there with real friendly staff signing us in and showing us our rooms. The view was great as we could sit and have coffee on a balcony with an amazing view of the mountains and the dam. I would recommend this to anyone.
See stars.
Really a wonderful place for a getaway. They'll definitely see me again.
The staff was amazing. They were very friendly and helpful. The lodge is not too far from the shops. Beautiful destination.
Sky Lodge is a nice, peaceful, safe place, I highly recommend it for a peaceful getaway. The service is excellent and the manager made us feel very welcome.
The welcome from the people running it is 10/10. We immediately felt at home if we visit there often. And we plan to return again in November and take more people with us.
Ideal for extended family getaway.

The most delicious stay near Hartbeespoort Dam. Everything you need in the unit, with beautiful scenery. We really enjoyed it, thank you very much!
We enjoyed the stay with friends.
Thank you to the manager.
Beautiful place with private pool and deck. Rooms large and comfortable. Sorry the Jaccuzi didn't work and lights in kitchen are very dim but otherwise it was lovely. Most beautiful view! Will go there again for sure.
One shower didn't work at all. The security gate's lock must get Q20. Robert is a star. Thank you.
Although we didn't spend much time (apart from the nights) at the lodge, we couldn't fault it and received very friendly service. Thank you
Very nice and tranquil with friendly service during our weekend stay. Not far from Pretoria. Enjoyed the view and saw a lot of stars at night. Even heard lions nearby. Will definitely go back.
Clemencia (the manager) and Orbit (the gardener/day watchman) were very friendly and helpful and quickly came and installed a new bottle for us at 10pm the night we ran out of gas. We might not be able to afford this place at normal rates (used the 30% off season discount) so whether we visit again will depend on the rates in the future. But the stay and the view was a lovely break so close to Pretoria! Thank you for the effort!
The lodge has many good features and space is definitely one of the good features as well as location near the city. Covid 19 has hurt several lodges, so my next comment is positive criticism and I fully understand that cash problems can be the cause of this. 50% of the coffee cups were cracked or hurt, no glass bowls to serve food. Far fewer forks than knives. No steak knives that make it difficult because barbecue is the order of the day when you visit there. Linen was clean and tidy, but certain rooms' linen is on the verge of being written off, stained or with holes. Everyone was very friendly when we arrived.
Excellent service from the time we got to the lodge. Friendly staff and very helpful.
We would highly recommend Sky Lodge and will be back again!
On Saturday evening, a group of guests at the Lodge were noisily hanging out and making incessant noise throughout the night. No one bothered to silence them and the other guests really couldn't appreciate the nature and field sounds. Management and staff are completely absent - there is a phone number you can call if you need anything.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The setting and views are really beautiful. The room was comfortable and neat the walls and curtains was a bit dirty. Found dried tomato pips on the dining chairs. There are some maintenance issues for instance the kitchen door was hanging. Our biggest problem was the lack of cover on the deck, there was just a small piece of cloth hardly covering the one corner and I think it was 34 degrees. We are smokers and had to stand in the blazing sun. The division between the two units outside was of such a nature you have to talk very softly or your neighbors will hear you, we heard them talking and they spoke softly. We got the feeling it is just a place to sleep for the night but not to enjoy during the day. We also wanted to buy ice but was told we have to drive to go buy at the petrol station. We will not be going back.
It was very quiet and peaceful and had a very nice view!
The lodge lends itself perfectly to more than 1 family with its 4 en-suite rooms each with a shower and a bath, which is very convenient. The extra rooms are unlocked depending on how many people are booked. It is clean and tidy, though some attention can be paid to the interior decoration as the wall hangings fall off and one of the rooms' bedding was a bit broken, but clean. There are no sharp knives in the kitchen to cut your steak or peel vegetables. The grass was a bit long and the garden a bit unkempt, but in addition to it, it remains a beautiful place!
Thank you we had a nice stay.
Lighting not up to standard very dim. Not enough dishes. Fridge very small for 12 sleeper as well as the pool.
Unit is beautiful, but has a lot of upgrading that needs to be done.
Sky Lodge is beautiful and located in the most beautiful surroundings, however I feel that attention should be paid to the finer finishing touches, in terms of bedding and mattresses. My husband and I slept on a double bed, two single beds next to each other, but the mattresses were so hard that we couldn't even sleep next to each other because the center line of the two mattresses hurt. Apart from that, there was not one duvet cover that had enough buttons to keep the duet inside. The overall cleanliness was also a problem. The bathroom floor was full of dust and there wasn't even a new roll of toilet paper in each bathroom. I would definitely recommend Sky Lodge to any group of friends, but they are going to need to pay attention to finishing their hospitality and cleanliness.
Views are breathtaking and the atmosphere is relaxing. We recently stayed at Blue Sky, and whats great about it is the fact that it accommodates large groups under one roof which is rear to find. The house has tons of space with over 10 rooms most of which are en-suite. The 10 adults and 7 kids that were travelling were comfortably accommodated. The pool area was a winner for us, never mind that it is a few meters (10-20 m) from the house through some trees, its perfectly located at the hilltop with marvellous views of Harties and lots of privacy. The downer was the fact that the house was still under construction which we were not warned about prior to the trip. Some rooms floors and walls were just recently plastered with raw cement mix with no tiles or paint. Even though it was neat the sight of it all made us feel like we were at some family members house and not on vacation. The staff were very helpful and were prompt to assist with whatever we needed. If travelling using a private car, sedan or hatch, the gravel road is not pleasant so stock up all you'll need for the stay before check-in and avoid driving back and forth to the shops. Would like to see the final product after all the renovations are done. I'm sure it'll be a stunner!
Bed linen needs some attention, looks faded and tired. Gate at entrance does not work, guests must open and close themselves. Don't know how safe it is.
My wife hardly slept due to her phobia of spiders, the air cons were going off and on. The roads getting to the destination was bad. The bedsheets and curtains where dirty, the kitchen was overruled with insects, we could not get a good sleep and the matter of fact we should be refunded some money. The whole point of a holiday is rest and relaxation not stressing about whether a spider is going to bite you or something is going to crawl on you while sleeping. Excellent area but accommodation not worth it, we had to open the gates to the lodge ourselves and we asked is it because of loadshedding. The answer was no, it was just because the gate is too far away.
On arrival, no one was at the large electric gate. I then called the manager and found out I had to push it open and close myself. Then drove up to reception, but no one was at reception. The doors were locked. I then found a man working there who then put a bunch of keys in my hand with the number 8 on it. Assume I live in unit 8. Come in and notice that one switch (wall plug) is off on the power board. I then turned it on and immediately the power started to kick in. Then found out that the hot tub in the bathroom had overflowed and burned out with previous guests. So I'm paying for something that doesn't work and the guy wandering around can't put me in another house either. Turn on the air conditioning and suddenly there is water running out of the unit over a wall plug on top of the kitchen counter top (wooden counter top). I then got the stand-in manager, because the real one was apparently on leave. I also tell him about the story and he shrugs at me and offers to send someone to clean up. This does not solve my problem. I still can't use the thing. Mind you, that's now 2 durable items I'm paying for that don't work. I will continue to complain until they fix the situation and hire staff who are willing to work with people. Another thing that bothered me was when I unpacked, I wanted to go swimming. There is no map or directions or anything that tells you where what is.
Very nice and clean place, thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Many thanks to Clemencia and Dennis for the wonderful and friendly service we received during our stay. The house we stayed in was neat and good value for money. We will definitely be back again in the future!
Very nice view, great clean rooms. Just no warning of bad dirt road in. Also a very nice weekend. Lovely place.
Would go again for a getaway, 50 minutes from Centurion.
The lodge was an amazing experience and I was very thankful for the aircon.
See stars.
Lovely quiet place for a weekend get away near Pretoria.
I will go back, but the place is expensive and over charged.
The lodge is amazing beautiful, the house is to die for. The staff is always on call to assist. The downfall was the gravel road. We travelled and the weather was bad which made the gravel muddy. Our cars got stuck a couple of times, but the staff was able to pull us out so something needs to be done with the gravel road. At least put some concrete.
The reception and key handover were very friendly. We stayed in Stone Lodge which is very spacious. I wish I had known ahead of time that two of the bedrooms were upstairs as it was not ideal with two small children up and down the steep stairs. Below were two en suite bedrooms, one of which was locked. The cleaning ladies unlocked it for us on Saturday morning so the little ones could sleep there. All the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with baths and showers. The one spa bath upstairs did not work and the shower in the master bedroom downstairs is very nice. The rooms are lovely spacious with air conditioning throughout the house. The open plan kitchen and living area was very comfortable with a TV (limited DStv channels). The porch is great for hanging out and there is even a fooseball table which was a nice distraction. The view is incredible. The house is a bit dusty and some of the beds are worn. There was no power Saturday morning due to a problem in the area - however, there are no generators or additional lights to provide power in such a situation. The gas stove worked, but it's so dark in the kitchen that we couldn't see the food we were trying to make. The caretaker simply said there was no power, sorry. Overall a quiet weekend, but not quite what we expected.
I only have one opinion. When you come into Sky Lodge and get your key at reception, the very first unit where the employees stay and their laundry hangs outside. Not very aesthetic. The boma area can also be made more private I feel.
One big boo-boo from start to finish. Have never stayed in such a messy unit in my life, ice skates stored in freezer areas and previous visitors' blood from the meat not cleaned, fridge area out of work, power boxes wires open, safety risk! Had to drive to buy ice to keep things cold. Staff knowledgeable and have an answer to all their mistakes, but no corrections have been made. My list goes on, will not recommend it and will not stay there again.
Manager tries her best to keep place going with little to no help from owners. The website will need to get new and updated photos again. Place does not look at all as it looks on photos.
It needs more activity’s and stable car ports that don’t damage people’s cars . Customer service should be more friendly.
I would not recommend this stay, it was a big disappointment. My family and I wanted a nice getaway weekend for my birthday and when we arrived it was not at all as advertised. The pool was dirty, you can't see the dam, there was only one bowl for four people to use and almost no dish soap or a sponge and there was a very small closet in the upstairs rooms, we couldn't hang any clothes. The road there is also very bad, I couldn't drive it with a car. Hartbeespoort was also a big disappointment, there was almost nothing to do and there was an awful lot of hawkers. The ad creates a false illusion of a luxury getaway weekend and it was anything but that.
