The accommodation at Smithland Guest Apartments is perfect for a busy time in the Cape. The accommodation is more for sleeping over, and not for relaxing. The pool is a big plus though.
Unfortunately we did not have a nice stay at Smithland Guest Apartments. The noise from the pool continued until after 10pm, so our baby (15 months) had trouble sleeping. Maybe the pool gate can be locked after the 8pm cutoff? Our neighbors at unit 1 also arrived very loudly at 23:50 (loud talking, eating and very noisy children), so sleep was very little. The unit is also not well equipped for heat - the bedroom would greatly benefit from air conditioning or a more effective fan. Thanks for the effort, but it wasn't one for the books.

Daily cleaning services were great and everything was very tidy etc. Clean towels every day was a plus. Getting and returning keys was easy. Secure parking.

The place has easy access as its not far from the N1.
It was the ideal accommodation for us who came as 5 families to Cape Town Marathon. It is close to N1 and easy to get around, especially for us who come from the countryside. Also convenient for children with swimming pool.
I enjoyed my stay. I will most definitely recommend this to everyone. It's very difficult to find a quality place like this is Cape Town and I often travel to Cape town. Keep up the great work. Smithland is also very central to all the big malls and CPT CBD.

Central location and perfect for what I needed it for. My only criticism was that we had to go home on the top floor, while I had my 84 year old father with me and climbing the stairs was very difficult for him.

The two bedroom unit is in a complex with one undercover parking space. The hospitality is excellent, the unit clean and tidy and all the amenities were available, but just bring your own hairdryer. The double bed takes up space in the small room. I would recommend the place for its convenience and central location.
Compared to many other guest houses where we have stayed before, Smithland was spacious and comfortable. However, floors were not clean and dust under the bed was unacceptable. WiFi didn't work either.

We booked two units. We got limited on what time we can visit each other at our units. We felt like we were still at creche or in a school! The woman at the reception was very rude and said if we give bad reviews, then she will also give bad reviews to our profile. We couldn't even chill, and have business conversation, then we get limited on we are talking too loud! The place is very clean and well, but the reception manager or lady treated us badly! Never ever would I book this place again!

We were looking for a place where the four of us could sleep for two nights while we tried to explore the Cape during the day. This small, yet neat, clean and practical unit ended up proving to be exactly what we wanted.
Would have enjoyed a lot more if we could barbecue, rainy weather didn't make it possible. Canopy for barbecue or indoor barbecue is ready for winter rain or unexpected summer rain.
Would recommend that each unit has its own braai area, or braai area near the unit.

On the information it shows that WiFi is available, but there was no WiFi. That's all we weren't happy with. Was almost only there to sleep, but it was nice.
We were 8 ladies who came to Cape Town for the Hillsong conference. We didn't know each other well. We asked for an 8 sleeper. There were 6 chairs around a table, 6 cups, 6 spoons etc. It became awkward sharing cups, sitting on the coffee table to share breakfast together etc. Something small, but made a difference! We mentioned it to reception after our first day. Nothing changed. All 8 ladies shares the 2 bathrooms. One toilet was broken (could not flush). That was awkward as all 8 used one loo. That too, wasn't fixed.

At first we were amused by the tiny unit squashed between 2 duplex units. It was clearly a single garage belonging to one of the duplexes that had been converted. Inside it was hot and stifling and the noisy, wobbling ceiling fan did nothing to help. We were forced to sleep with the unbarred "bathroom" windows wide open - it would have been easy for an intruder to get in through them. We also had to have the bedroom / lounge sliding door open to get some air. This door had a security gate but didn't stop a beggar from sticking his hand into our unit, opening the curtains and surveying the room! The kitchen has a shelf with 2 stools underneath - an attempt at a breakfast nook. It was impossible to use it as the short, narrow shelf was filled by the kettle,toaster and minute oven / 2-plate stove. For R650 this was a rip-off and should be marketed honestly - there were no photos of this unit.

From arrival we were welcomed with open arms. I had such a good time at the place that I was actually sad I had to go. You didn't know about anyone so it was peaceful. The staff were so friendly. Our places were cleaned every day. None of us was gone. I left a N$30 there in the tray which I forgot. I came to get it when I came back. The people are really value for money. Fresh towels every day. The people took me through everything and explained how everything works. I'm so surprised good service doesn't happen anywhere anymore these days. I would recommend anyone to stay there anytime. My husband and children and I had a great stay. Thank you very much Smithland and LekkeSlaap it was great service on another level.

The stay was very enjoyable, but unfortunately it was way too short as I was only able to sleep over one of the 2 nights. I had to cancel one night due to unforeseen circumstances and had to come back to Mossel Bay to get back to work. Don't know when I'll be back in town, but I'll definitely choose Smithland if I'm in the Cape.

Very nice place, except for the fact that people on the top floor made a noise till the early hours of the morning every night. It was very frustrating because we came to run the marathon and didn't get much sleep.

Smithland is in a quiet area, safe and very neat.
The only problem is that the people make a lot of noise. Because apartments are close to each other, you can hear everything the people are talking about, etc. But had a nice stay and will stay there again when we come to the Cape. Has everything you need. Very nice stay! Excellent location. People make a little noise but are understandable because the places are together.
The place is neat and very clean and the linen is washed regularly. Security and parking is good. The shower in the bath isn't very convenient and there isn't enough space for more than one towel. It's very noisy in the unit on top and each movement can be clearly heard. It also takes time to get used to the planes landing. The DStv channels that are advertised on the info sheet, isn't available, the channels that were available was a lot less.
Was lovely to stay there - out of the 'rush' of the city but still quite close to everything. Skkon bedding and towels as well as the daily cleaning - it was great to be able to stay there! Thank you very much!

I arrived here on Thursday the 20th of April and once again the DStv was not working. The receptionist tried everything but couldn't manage. I checked into Olympus across the street for the evening. The next day at 5 o'clock the technician first arrived and didn't manage either. I was checked back into the same unit as the previous day only after I complained. The studio unit was also very small.

I found the staff very helpful and friendly. The accommodation suited me as a single occupant ideally. OK for 2 persons, ie a couple possibly with a child, but definitely not for more - too cramped for 2 couples. Well equipped and attention to detail is good, eg I reported the fridge light and main lounge had blown and by my return that day it were all fixed up. Bed very comfortable. I would definitely use Smithland again if required to be in that locality. .I found it value for money. Secure with good parking.

One request... a bathroom/toilet downstairs! We would like to bring a larger group of women to the conference next year and would enjoy several houses close together in order to accomodate them all. Do any of your houses have single beds only as that would allow us to accommodate 8 instead of 6 to a house?

Very cute unit and good value for money. Advertising it as 'Plattekloof' is misleading. It's in Parow North (big difference!). The mattresses were hard and we had neighbors who made noise all night. Furthermore, we had a nice stay and it's close enough to everything.

The apartments are beautiful and clean, but I'm just disappointed that when I checked in, the swimming pool was green and no-one attended to the matter. I couldn't make use of the pool and when I spoke to 1 of the maintenance guys he was not aware that the pump of the pool was not working.
Value for money but very noisy. Never slept through a night we stayed here. There are always other guests partying horribly and making noise in the middle of the night.
It's very well located and safe, only the parking for apartment 3 and 5 is very uncomfortable. I scraped my car's left "bumper". But it is very well located and the rooms are very neat.
The room was tiny. The venue was not the same as advertised in all brochures of the accommodation. The kitchen was not workable, only an electric frying pan and microwave, definitely not suited to self catering as advertised. One tiny washbasin for dishes. The cutlery and crockery was not properly washed, the underside of the kettle that was placed on the chopping board was full of yellow filth. Floors were dirty and sandy. Cleaning staff were fortunately friendly and helpful.
Garden, especially at number 7 and around the pool was untidy with papers and bottles lying everywhere. Noisy guests in other apartments throughout the night, which was extremely disturbing. Bathrooms definitely need attention.

I've never heard of Smithland, but everyone in my neighborhood is sure to hear about it. Everything was clean, in good condition and comfortable. Except for an "adaptor" for the hairdryer (which they immediately gave us), there was absolutely nothing missing. To a phone guide! We could easily reach all places on time from your address and we don't exactly know the Cape area. Thank you very much. It was a good choice.

There was no wall plug or "attachment" for the hairdryer which was available. 2.The front door as well as the bathroom door got stuck and the latter got stuck on the floor. 3. The pull-out bed in the front room got stuck because the mattress was too high and couldn't pull out. 4. The lamp in the front room was not working. 5. The window frame of the bedroom is dirty and unpainted and the part that was painted was sloppily done - drips of paint that ran off. The glass is cracked.6. There are no foot mats in front of the bed.
The bedroom is a bit small and so is the shower. The shower head also needs attention, because the water distribution is not good.

Smithland is very centrally located. It's very clean and tidy. Staff very friendly and helpful. One SUGGESTION: If the soap dish in the shower can be moved to the side, there can be a little more room to move in the shower. However, it's just a suggestion, not a complaint.

For the price I paid, I half-thought it was a scam - only to my surprise it was was the best accommodation choice I ever made while booking most of my travels. Friendly staff from day one, after an overnight driving from Johannesburg. The house was to die for! On my next trip to Cape Town, Smithland will be the first one on my list. I'd love to give you 6 stars for your services!
Thank you we enjoyed our stay, but found it was just too far from our venue. We might be back next year but definitely with our own transport. Transport to our venue and back was more than our accommodation. So yes, value for money indeed. God bless.
I just feel that you can pay attention to the beds' mattress, because it is literally slept on. Already in apartment no.3. Shower head wasn't right either, but otherwise our stay was very nice.

Very good value for money, and quite clean. However, the biggest complaint was that our unit was not ready by that 12pm check in time, and that the drain in the main bathroom shower doesn't dispose water fast enough.
We had a very nice stay, even if it was just for sleeping. The apartment is very nice, but the environment is very noisy. It was especially the other residents in the complex who were noisy, specifically the school groups.
It's very well located and clean, friendly staff who went out of their way to book us in earlier, will definitely book there again.
It is good value for money. Place is very neat. It is close to all areas in the Western Cape. Will stay here again if I come to Cape Town.
Improvement: Suggest double bed for couples is more convenient.Ground floor stay for family with kids to eliminate the hazard of climbing stairs. Good stay, very clean, great location.

Smithland is an amazing place to live. It's our third year staying there and have never been disappointed. If we keep alive and healthy we will be there again next year!
